Update: Had a buddy who used to work for les schwab (heaven forbid) come over and look at it. Its definatley leaking from the e-brake nut, so now I'm on a search to find a new caliper (VW parts = $) or a way to replace whatever seal gave way inside the caliper.
-
I am sorry for the poor pics, my cheap lil largan camera doesn't seem to like close range stuff! As far as I can tell that nut is holding on the E-brake assembly, as the only things between this nut and the caliper housing is the bracket and arm attatched to that cable. The only guy who got back from me on the VW site said that it may be a seal where the e-brake mechanism passes through the caliper, but he wasn't sure if it went all the way into the housing or not? Thanks for the help, this is my first ever go at working on brakes. And has me continuing to curse buying a VW, but we all have to learn somehow right? And are Hayne's manuals this incomplete for all vehicles? Flipping though the one for My VW makes me wonder! pssd I'll continue the search for any info/ exploded views, in the mean time thank god I have my Pathy :-)

Just today my 99 VW GTI started rapdily loosing brake fluid from the drivers rear caliper, basically rendering my brakes useless. I have a puddle off brake fluid under the car in about 5 minutes. The leak seems to be coming from a nut on the back of the caliper. What Do I have to do to fix this? Sorry this isn't a Pathy question, but I figured you guys might know more about disk brakes than I do. I've already posted in a VW forum I'm part of, but I haven't had much luck getting help from them with anything so far :-)

Every little bit helps :-) Mounting on top of the dash is out as I already have a box that contains all my switches to the right of the gauge area. If I can find a bracket for the CB (Didn't come with one) I'll consider mounting under the stereo, hoping its not to long for that of course :-)

I just happend upon this, guy only wanted $20 bucks for the whole lot :-) What I have: 8 ft whip antannea Cobra 25LTD Classic CB -- Circa 1995 Cobra Microphone Diesel 4-2 Amplified Microphone Now the questions! :help: A) The Antannea -- Do I really need 8 feet? Any advantages disadvantages? The guy I bought this from mentioned a 8 foot wavelength, and that I should use 8 foot sections to connect the antannea? Microphones -- Which should I use? Stock cobra or this Diesel Amplifed one? C) The CB -- I'm missing the powercable, on the back theres something similar to a molex connection with one power and two grounds. What do I need to do to wire it? Is it a stock Cobra cable? Where do I mount the CB itself? I'd like it to have a somewhat permanent location in the cab (as I plan on adding the PA speaker and external CB speaker) I thought I might be able to put it where my ashtray is, but I"m fairly sure I'd run into substantal depth issues. D) -- Wiring/Grounding --Also right above my ashtray I have a Microphone mount installed from the previous owner. When I removed the front panel I found out it was grounded. What purpose does that serve? What do I have to do to properly ground this system? He he, I needed a good project :-) Thanks guys

He he, reminds me of a few weeks ago, took out a few old routers and monitors and executed them all office space style with a .357 Revolver -

Was surfing e-bay (I heart the graveyard shifts!) and came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ssPageName=WDVW The UCA's don't look as sturdy as say, Trailmaster/Calmini, but I've never heard anyone say anything good or bad about rancho parts? I'm thinking about selling my GTI, as I've had more things break on it than the Pathfinder, with the pathy being over a decade older! If so It'll be time for some upgrades to the pathy! :cool2: *later on* Or what about this? My pathy needs some bling right? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ssPageName=WD1V he he, sorry, couldn't resist.

Exactly why I'm not for it! :-) 50 yards with open sights would make it very difficult to tell if the cat was feral or not. I can already see all sorts of news stories about some little girls Cat getting shot because a half drunk red neck went kitty bopping. My idea? Set live traps, catch the Feral ones, let em loose in a closed off park and then charge the hicks 20 bucks to get in :-) And PBR isn't always bad, I used to go to a college bar that had a 32oz frosted mug of PBR for 2 bucks or something silly like that. Two of them and you were feeling pretty toasty! Still can't drink the stuff out of a can though...

Thats the approach I take in my VW! Wish I could use the same method on the Pathy, but I Keep hitting the brake on accident while looking for its clutch

LMAO, I have that same Lifes to short sticker, only in VW flavor on my GTI :-) Didn't know they had one for a pathy :-)

Just like my favorite past time of calling up local parts houses and asking for spark plugs and a distribuitor for a 94 GMC Diesel, very few catch on right off the bat :-)
