Dreaming of warm road trips!!

Finally got the lift installed. I will be making a thread soon but I need to get it cleaned up for some proper pictures.

Had a fun quick snow trip up in the mountains with my buddies. Aired down to 15psi and finally was able to test the new coils by flexing on a mound. They worked great, with the additional lift in the rear I dont hit my rear fender flares anymore so that's a plus. Downside is that I'll need longer shocks as I did pick up the wheel off the ground but was expected. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Well folks, to those who haven’t seen it yet, here’s the new Pathfinder! Ended up getting it for $600, and I’ll be driving it back to Bozeman tomorrow and starting my new job at Go Fast Campers on Monday. It’s got a 5 speed manual which it’ll be donating to the red Pathfinder once the weather improves. Also, huge thanks to Alex for the old lift springs! Hasn't been touched since unfortunately. Between doing my thesis, BioChemistry, Physics and my Biology classes, I have no time to spare. Hopefully after graduation this May i'll have a decent break to finish the rear. On the bright side, I just bought a new welder to help with this project, so that ought to make it go by a little faster than the front end.

Also what’s a good way to get the crank shaft time belt gear off. And same with the camshaft... going in to replace them seals. While I am this deep. fskc might be easier to pull is. Drop a reman black in it. Then reinstall. That I take wasn’t fun. And I cut those lines.

Always has to be the hard one to get to, doesn't it? The only thing I've managed to do with a normal easy-out is snap it off inside the fastener. I've seen sockets that are cut like an inverted easy-out, if that makes sense. Might give that a go if there's room for it. Given that the fastener's borked anyway, you could try slotting its head (if you can get a hacksaw back there) so you can get a straight screwdriver on it and try to work it loose that way. If you can get a drill to it, you could just drill out the head like a rivet, freeing the manifold, and then extract the stud with vise grips (or weld a nut to it if you have a welder). You could probably cut the head off with a hacksaw blade or grinding it down to nothing with a file if it came to that. Hopefully it doesn't come to that!

I now have the transmission and starter in. Only things left to do are clutch lines, wire the starter, reinstall the front axle/driveshaft and the new exhaust. Might paint it thia weekend too.

Works great. The bushings for the differential are not available in polyurethane. I machined these from oversized bushings. If you are interested I can machine another set.

I have a set on my Xterra. They work great as a overload ride enhancing product. As a bump stop they are a little rough. The rebound is fast. I would look into the off road bump stop instead. It seems to be only for the new X and Frontier though I’m sure they could be adapted to the R50 with some ingenuity.

So after a quick test drive last night over various roads and a really rutty and bumpy road the springs feel a lot better than the OME's in terms of ride quality. Yes they are stiffer but not spine compressing and they handle the ruts really well. I felt that my OME's even though they were old and had lots of miles they felt like they "floated" over ruts and bumps. The new springs feel like they keep the axle on the ground at all times. Also I noticed that my body roll was a lot less too. Next step is to go up in the hills and test the flex capability of the springs and to see if I need to reinstall my bumpstops. AFAIK the strawberry milkshake of death problem was only an issue with the original radiators, so a decent aftermarket rad would probably be alright. Having seen what happens when the stock cooler fails, I'd want to get that junk out of there.

You’ll get at least 3 inches out of those due to the higher spring rate.
