So whattaya guys think? I still have to get a monitor for it yet, but i'm still deciding whether a 17" LCD with be ok, or should I spoil myself with the 19"

Jeez I could had a lot parts for the truck instead of this :furious:

I'm gonna have to deal some serious beat-downs in CounterStrike to vent my anger

Very Nice Bud !! That will keep you happy for years ! I say splurge for the 19", but you have dual monitor support. Get 2 17"... Trust me on this, run dual monitors !!! I do and it is invaluable at times, and just down right cool the others. Theoretically I can support 9 monitors, but the desk just isn't big enough...

Dual monitors, definately.. Talk about making things easier, you can IM and write a paper at the same time.. or IM people and watch a DVD... Im sure there are productive things you can do too... But yea, dual monitors rule.

Just mere 15's...

I'm going from a p3 733 (it used to be a 133, but i upgraded it) with 256mb of ram. I wanted the 9800 card, but i couldn't afford it. I make alot of ringtones for cellphones and animations and such as part of my new job: New employer, so I spent the extra hundred dollars on ram so it doesnt crash. I haven't bought a new computer in 5 years and hopefully with this one, I won't have to for another 5! I'd like to do the dual monitor setup someday, but for now, i think i'm gonna snatch up one of those dell 1905fps (i got a coupon to use on it) When i feel the need to spend more money on it, then i'll go to the dual lcd's. I have a nice 21" viewsonic crt that I can pair up with the LCD at the moment. This thing is gonna eventually run all my home theater stuff, but i'm excited to get my mitts on it none the less! Who knows, i might even edit some offroad flicks on it to post up here.

By another HD and make it Raid 0. I have 2 Hitachi 160's with an adaptec Raid 0 card. I'm buying 2 more of the hitachi's and buying the Adaptec Raid 5 2400A.

Oh, Mine is a P4 3.0HT w/800MHz bus. Gb NIC, both drives are in removable cases incase they go bad. Makes it easier to get to. Audigy 2 LS, Yamaha 44X CD-RW w/DiscT@2, 1Gb of Dual channel DDR 400. CompUSA, which I work part time at, has the Sony Dual layer DVD writer for 89.99 after rebate. I may pick one up.

This is just a hold me over PC till I can build my Dual Xeon.

Your motherboard already had nVidia nForce3 Ultra graphincs intergrated. But I guess since you now have dual monitors, maybe its better. If it was me, I'd use the current monitor and switch to the motherboard graphics card. Then switch back to the dual when you get the other one. :) My former super had 3 monitors and I always asked him if he was planning on becoming a pilot. :) Flight Simulator.

Nice overall, but why god only a 9600XT? Unless your just surfing the net the 9600 technology is like 4 years old, you could get a 6600GT for under $200 now.

I woulda just got a standard sound card, like a SB Live or something, considering it supports 5.1 and hardly any games take advantage of the onboard sound prossesing unit. Unless you really need the front ports the standard user will never take advantage of its uses. You coulda saved 150 and got a 6800 or something.

I would also ditch the PSU, the ones that come in cases are usually junk, having a high quality PSU is worth 15 FPS in games, no joke. Its also cheap insurance agianst the cheap PSU going out and destroying your system. I will tell you first hand its worth every penny, I lost a $150 mobo becouse the PSU that came with my case took a dump on me.

Secondly, there are hardly any programs that use 64 bit technology, the only 1 that most would use is a beta of the XP OS, games still use 32 bit. You are paying for the L1 and L2 cache on the MB. Eventually the cost will pay off but not yet.

Also, unless your getting a top of the line LCD with low refresh time, its going to leave ghosting on your screen while playing games. Get a high quality CRT for half the cost and double the image quality, also, LCD's lack the adjustments of CRTs

All this is comming from someone who plays....way more videogames than they should, and builds computers as a side job.

My currents set up...

P4 2.6 HT over clocked to 2.85 running @ 104f

2x512 Kingston Hyper X

MSI NX6600 GT over clocked 3%

MSI Neo 660 Mobo

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum

2- 160 gig Seagate HD's

1 TDK DVD-+RW 4x

1 Lite On 52x CD burner

Cooler Master Real Power 450watt PSU

Lian Li 60 black case w/2 neon kits, and blue fans.

21" ViewSonic Pro Series PF790 main display

15" cheapo LCD as secondary

CS isn't really a game that requires a high fps rate. I played CS on a POS card. Try playing a game like UT2k4 or Tribes:Vengeance. Those are memory sucking games.

You make ringtones and wallpaper for cell phones? :o

I had no idea there was any money in it... I currently have a Nextel i860 that I make my own ringtones for... The ringtones on the Nextel site are way too expensive... I can also get just about any song as a ringtone free from nextpimp not to mention thousands of free wallpapers "lots of porn wallpaper"

I noticed that someone was selling (free ringtones and wallpaper) on ebay... I thought to myself... If it's free, why the he!l would I pay this guy for the knowledge??? A little googling and common sense and now I bet I've got $50 worth of ringtones for free... Plus I get my friends free stuff too... The one thing I can't quite figure out how to get free is the java games... I don't play games on the fone that much anyway tho... B)

PS... For people with camera phones... Get any wallpaper you want free... Just take a picture of the computer screen while the pic you want is on screen, with the picture quality of camera phones you'll never know the difference... -thnkboutit-

the reason I got the 9600XT was it's the cheapest card that will run halflife 2 in directx9 setting at a reasonable rate: Read here

by the looks of it, the ati cards perform much better on that setting then the nvidias. That's the only game I really like to play online. As for the power supply, most of the people i've talked to have said the Antec PSUs are just as good as other brands claiming 400w+ of power. I read alot of reviews before I decided on this one. Sonata Review It's the same case the owner of the store uses and he's reported no problems with it.

The ghosting on the LCD was one of my fears but I saw the viewsonic 17"(8ms) in action on a DVI connection and I was extremely impressed with it. Just not the $450 pricetag.

I got the audigy card because I do alot of sound editing for the cellphones, plus I want to transfer all of my movies into digital format with the best sound quality possible (i love the surround sound home audio setups) Like I said before, i'm eventaully going to use this thing as the hub of my home entertainment unit.

Trailchaser, that's awesome that you've learned how to make your own ringtones! Most of our stuff is for the canadian market, like this: Some of my ringtones (Redeye CopTones--most of the are my voice lololol) We are hoping to get into the american market shortly, but so far, so good., Nice phone BTW.

Antecs are good PSUs and cases, so you're probably set. Yeah, some LCDs are crap and others are good, even ones with the same refresh rates...

I got sick of paying $1 per ringtone too, so there's lots of programs that'll convert to ringtone format (for whatever phone you might have) from MIDI or what have you.

A buck for ringtones wouldn't be too bad, but Nextel has most decent ones at $1.99 and good ones are $2.99... I was really exciting when I first figured it out. Now I don't dl'em that much.. Same with just about everything tho...

Most of ours cost $3 canadian. The wallpapers go for $1.50. We've been working on some ringbacktones (call ringer tunes) at the moment, and those might be a little more. The games are 5 bucks which is kinda steep seeing that most of 'em are crap and all. Rally racing is moderately fun though.
