well every little thing the computer sees through driving is logged in a file

 

that file is attached above

it tells me how the engine is running from the computers point of view

After reading your post I did some googling on laptops hooked up though the OBD connector. One guy had a 98 TJ and the screen shot he had showed it out putting information on oil pressure, speed and other assorted things.. does yours do this? Where did you get the parts for your cable?

whoa thats pretty wicked sure beats payin several grand for a snap on computer tho...

He just "mirrored" (is it correct) the image in Photoshop... :P

what program was he using

you mention OBD

i am using ALDL

 

probably different programmes as well

 

 

where did i get the stuff for the cable?

the nearestest electronics store and about $4.

So did some more research after studying last night.. 96 & newer have the OBDII connector (all vehicles from 1/1996 on I believe) and through that connector the computer has a list of parameters it is supposed to output such as engine speed, coolant temp..

Pretty complex program there. Gives you full access to your on board computer. Pretty sweet.
