Haynes or Chilton ?

The factory service manual is what prompted me look for something a bit better. There are so many great step by step how-to's around the forum I was hoping for something along those lines. My mom could have done a timing belt with one of the great threads here! :D

I know Haynes and the like get a bad rap, but I have to say I have been very impressed with the Haynes manual for my pathfinder. I think its an older version though, because it seems alot thicker than the ones they sell at the parts stores now.

Haynes is the cliff's notes of the FSM. Check them together; There's places where it's word for word.

Why pay $12 for the watered-down version when you can get the real stuff for free?

All of the above. Seriously, I have one of each (Hayes from when I bought my first pathy, FSM found here for free and a Chiltons that came with my second pathy) and cross reference them often.

Also, there are several threads here about tranny removal but I'm at work and don't have time to search for you.
