VG30i Alternator

I removed the AC system from my 87 because frankly I dont need it and could do without the weight. I notice the alternator is mounted really low, susceptible to water damage etc. Does anyone know if it will bolt onto the AC compressor bracket without too many dramas? I spy nice and high and dry.

I am pretty sure that I have seen pic's of it having been done before, but I cannot be sure. And it seem like there was a member on this board who as looking into i, not sure if ever completed it or not though

if you have removed the aircon. why not turn it into a aircomperssor. easy to do.

Not sure about Nissan AC units, but the Toyota HiLux (Just called Pickup or 4x4 here) are really strong

it can be done though, someone on nissanoffroad has a semi-writeup and pics, and there is a guy on cardomain who has pics of his dual alt set up. One of them is in the a/c bracket.

nah the stock nissan one works great. just remeber to use the ally pipe otherwise the heat from the air con compressor will keep blowing the air line. but we still get bloody hot days here to. i look at as i would rather be using it for good lie fixing the car or having cold air blown on you. i hate aaircon...lol but mine will run a rattle gun no problems.

 

they advertise them here in the 4by mags for around $350 australian. bloody expensive if you ask me. i made mine for under $100 including the tank from the truck wreckers.

I have seen a couple people swap in a York compressor for OBA setups. I remember reading that you need to setup an oiler to use the Nissan or it will seize up.

i just use a small inline oiler from my airtool it on the airintake
