  1. Hello Fellow Pathy owners (of the WD21 type...). I have a question for you, as I can't find it online, and don't have much time to go the the JY to check myself. I need to know the width of your rear axle. That's it. I'm eventually gonna SAS my R50, and since your 31 spline axle actually has gear sets available, it might be easier to swap my rear axle for yours. Although I know I can get some 4.56:1 gears for a D44 front, Would that be close enough for my 4.636:1 ratio? Someone told me to stay within 2% of the front to rear ratio to keep the tranny from binding, but I'm not very good at ratio's. This all depends on your width, of course. I'm sure it's at least an inch skinnier than mine, but thats no big deal. Thanks for your help guys. Jose
  2. http://www.rocky-road.com/pathfindersus.html Go here and buy the "medium duty" (which are actually light duty) springs. They will keep your lift to a minimum, while providing better than stock springs (I assume). But since your a 'firefighter' and drive over medians and stuff, then getting the 'heavy duty' (which are really medium) springs will suit you best, and it should only give you about 1.25" of lift over stock. The poly bushings should need to be pressed off, but I'm not sure about the fronts. I'm also debating whether I should do this, too (since my pathy is up on jack stands, waiting for me to rebuild the suspension also...or convince my buddy to help SAS the fskcer, but thats a long while from now). You should also get KYB GR2 struts and some new rear shocks (Bilstein or Rancho, but I hear better things about the former) to help with the 'floating' feeling. Also check your sway bar end links, as this could have an impact on this as well, but not by much. Hope this helps a little and good luck!
  3. KYB-GR2's and OEM Mounts. Since your re-using your old mounts, you should be fine. But I do recomend replacing your strut bearings at the same time. Jose
  4. Actually, their rear spacer would be similar to ours if mounted on the bottom of the spring. And yes, they have independant all around, which means CV's all around. The only thing I wouold see easier is a body lift (which we don't have obviously haha). But for some reason the CV angles on the R51 is not as much a concern as ours is...why?
  5. So I asked PRG if they would ever consider making parts for our R50's. Here is the reply I got: I put "third" in brackets becaus he kept calling the R51 a 'second' gen. Go figure... Maybe they will seriously look into our rides...maybe. We should all email them everyday so they get the picture. They make that 2" spacer lift and SS braided brake lines for the R51. It's sad really, that the R51 has more support in the aftermarket then we do. I mean, Calmini makes a 5" lift for them! add a 3" body lift and you got at least 35" tires on this beast of an SUV. Come on! 8" on this and I can't even get 3"? Jose
  6. So how does it drive? I would love to have some headers (unfortunatley, a broke and undrivable pathy has other priorities). Does it feel like it kicks more when the gas is pressed or what?
  7. I don't have a lift, but I've never heard a complaint about the OME springs sagging before (well, not after only a few years).
  8. a peice half the size of a BB is still a big piece coming from the tranny. When you park it, do you use the E-brake? Or do you just stick it in park and leave it at that?
  9. Wow...thats some bad ass pump. I know some pumps (not automotive, but might apply) you have to pull the whole shaft, since the pully is 'cold welded' to the shaft. Pretty much impossible to take apart, so the whole shaft/pulley has to be replaced. Good for industrial use, pretty over kill if thats what is with this pump. Jose
  10. Oh, ok cool. Do you think you could get a pic of how it's mounted to the rail? (Not sure if you could do this since it's not your ride and schedules and blah.)
  11. Soo...I'm a little confused here...which box did you use? And do those boxes have power steering, or is it all manual ( I would assume power is there, but I'm just throwing a newbie Q out there to clear things up)? Jose
  12. Yea, it different. i don't know if the back would work, but I don't know the size of the coil and mount on an R51, not to mention they are independent all around.
  13. My neighbor has a lifted Taco with leaves on it and it flexes pretty nicely for a 14" lift with like no weight on them. But his buddy has a lifted Taco with links all around, and that bastard looks like a Yoga teacher! Haha. Holy hell... But I guess it comes down to budget and preference. Thanks for showing me the pics of your ride with the leaves up front and coils in back, packie. Opened my mind up just a little more to new ideas! jose
  14. 99545 Is the crank handle, and also doubles as the lug nut wrench. It is right, my friend. Jose
  15. Wow. Thats cool. Especially the acceleration numbers imporovement. that alone proves the performance. I wonder what the dyno graph looks like compared to stock though. If a loss in low end torque is evident, then it might not be worth it for the off roader...
  16. For real. I must be missing a whole lot! Wow...that's a lot of stuff...One thing I'm kickinmyself in the balls for is that spark plug wrench thing. Threw it out by accident! Damn it.
  17. This has to be for an R51. That 2" spacer lift looks bad ass...if only. I mean the ring is circular! But the bolts are not on a circular path. They are in an uneven triangle like our mounts...I wonder... Jose
  18. Zahle , Lebanon - Doha , Qatar Lets all go here and compete! YAY! ROAD/BOAT Trip! I'm on a boat!
  19. Now I have seen it! That's great man. I've never seen a setup like that before. But I never said that it wouldn't work, just thought it was weird and off, that's all. But I do like the idea of leaves on all four corners of the R50. I think it would suit it well. The only thing being the whole unibody being an obstacle (can't really mess up the mountng points) and the subframe may get in the way (how did Alex - nissandoms47 - do his...hmm...need to look at that.) jose
  20. While when you say it, it makes sense, I have yet to see any one put this idea together. So that's why I say it's wierd. Now just taking all the springs out and putting in leafs would be cool. Hell, we could do like HD GM's and use torsion bars! () Jose
  21. And about the Calmini kit for the X. The X has leaf springs in the rear, so putting them up front isn't a bad option. Putting leafs in front of the R50 is rediculous. How you gonna have springs in back and leafs up front? Just kind of off... Jose
  22. Well, i don't have to admit it. Everyone I know has called me an asshole at point... Jose
  23. Yea, big tires and pretty boy flares don't seem to be a good match...(glad I have a 1st gen, but sad I don't have the VQ). Jose
