  2. IF (and that's a BIG IF) i decide to part out my new 91 pathy SE....... i will be selling the tranny..... auto. rebuilt 6 months before he stopped driving it. but shipping will be a killer......... and i need at least $700-$800 for the tranny to help pay back the loan i got to buy it.... all being well i pick up the truck tonight. -bounce-
  3. i was too lazy to read everyone's responses.. pull the heads n check for a busted piston like mine

  7. i know the junk yards here are barren of them, but i'll keep my eyes peeled for ya here in cali
  8. i have em on my 5 speed '92 and love em. i paid $338 for mine 18 months ago -bounce-
  9. we were lucky in the neighbor couldn't get dave's boat running.. swapped the boat fer his 68 cuda back. $300 later n the boat is at the lake every weekend tell her they are $$. way more than a wheeler.... maintenance, gas, towing, cleaning, the list goes on. but here in cali it is soooooooooooooooooo worth it.. in fact.... we're off to the lake tomorrow........
  10. second the notion! :cool2:
  11. sly hope the linky works..... http://www.damagedreality.com/altswap.html
  12. well.. the motor i got from N.O.W. had 170,000 miles and it was in better shape tham my 135,000 engine don't shy from the mileage if it has a history DJD is on hawaii
  13. eh. not much in the way of mods actually installed yet but lemme see.... switches for spot lights ~ so i can see better 2 x 12's in a box in the back ~ so i can drown out the jackass next to me at the light 2 x amps (total of 1500 watts) ~attached to a board which is attached to the back of the back seat so i can still acutally fold down the seat a broken speedo needle so i have to pay attention to my rpm's more and turn the stereo down grant steering wheel~ so my knees don't hit the bottom of the wheel when i shift anymore 6 cd changer in the back tucked in the corner ~ so i won't change cd's while driving kenwood deck ~i blew it up so i have no problem listening to my engine now earthquake eq in the glovebox ~ so no one steals it and i can handily adjust the bump in the trunk yeah.. now..... the stuff i am GOING to be putting in there is another story all together... but here's what the back *coughs* looked like before i blew my deck (the 2 x 12's have been replaced by life jackets, new tool box, gear bag for the lake, tongue n ball for hitch, many tie dows, tow straps and rubber bungees, coolant, oil, and lillys spare leash and a spare tire. you don't want to see THAT mess.......
  14. well, if it's the hose i THINK you're talking about...... i have done it. it's the upper bypass hose (proper name) and it's a PITA but doable. hint... the hose you buy at a parts store is not EXACTLY the same and will need to be cut.... cut it to size.. don't give it any extra length. also, use hose clamps to tighten the new hose. the clamps nissan put in there will get destroyed out of frustrationa and impatience... hehehe.. at least, mine did. here are some pics of the bugger in question. (3 weeks after i did this job i actually pulled the motor i ended up cutting the blown hose in half for easier removal.... then with the new hose a little lube to help it along around the outer edge of the hose and put the bottom on first then the top.. don't forget the hose clamps! the fuel line section of the FI rail will actually be your biggest PITA.... it's kinda in the way and disconnect the yellow sensor wire.... that'll be in the way too..... and it's kinda delicate...
  15. broken studs...... i have done 2 broken stud removals, and had to drill 1 hole out (out of 6 broken studs) as the stud welded itself inside. just had to watch the jacket. if you've done a t belt, you can do studs with patience. as you can see by the picture, i have studs broken all different ways.. and they are all removable. this is B's write up on stud removal/tools. a MUST read. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5361
  16. the scenario is entirely possible. no valve damage? highly unlikely when you said you and a friend cranked her over several times after the incident happed.... that is one of the major causes of valve damage... as above. mechanic who did it before is responsible, but this is NOT a perfect world. as for replacement engines? ebay. JDM seem to be popular, and i do believe DJ Dank is still on the big island.... maybe he knows someone? A compression test is a GOOD thing. then go from there. Check to see if there are any local junk yards around, and if they have any pathys. talk to some "natives" of hawaii and ask around if they can recommend anyone to do the work... if the same name pops up mroe than 3 times, you're probably onto a winner. good luck with all of this, and keep us updated. sorry to hear of your pathy's illness :sniff: glad you're not giving up on her yet!
  17. Slick

    how much oil

with the OFRK (relo kit) and runnin a TG8A filter i usually sling in 4 qts then run er a day then check again.... cuz during an oil change not all the oil drains from the motor
  18. eh. i might as well join in...... here's mine.....
  19. i got smoked by a fully loaded kenny the other day
  20. :cool2: excellent. glad you got it all worked out. -bounce-
  21. no. arrow is pointing to sways.... don't ask a person under the influence of JD to draw arrows.... it's not perfect but he got the idea lol
  22. i understand what you're saying. and i agree. the pathy is no longer really a pathy, but a suburban/4 runner/type suv with a nissan badge. *sighs* sign-o-the times
  23. as above. it seems more in the belt than the dizzy, but as you say, every VG30 is different. check all your timing marks, and connections to the dist cap. was the motor at TDC for SURE when you did the belt? is it too loose? too tight? i know my truck has to be exact TDC or she runs like dookie. very fussy engine in mine. check the wires comin off the dist too..... maybe the ground isn't very good? cap loose? bad plug wire?
