  1. Yes, I did as well. The job isn't hard but it's a bit tight and the right tools help a lot! B
  2. So it is a whine, not a squeal but you couldn't narrow down the source? What condition are the belts in? Are they tight or have they gotten wet? Any coolant leak is a problem, but track down exactly where. Check around the hole in the bottom of the waterpump snout first. Thermostat up side down may affect burping the system, but it shouldn make it leak IIRC. B
  3. ^I actually vote for both. My headers and Y pipes have gaskets and Permatex copper. No leaks. Like he asked, what components do you have? B
  4. I always say to try tightening them first, most of the time it is all that is needed. B
  5. Yeah, I had to cut my carpet in 2 corners to get the shifter/boot out. It wasn't designed for that... Glad you feel the difference, I'm sure it will make it last longer. B
  6. About all you can do is change the muffler (assuming smog laws), but you could probably have larger pipes made from the rear of the cats on back as long as they were provisioned for the 2 downstream O2 sensors. Not many options for the R50 I'm afraid... B
  7. Is it a squeal from a belt or a whine that changes somewhat with RPM? Yes, the idler bearings do go bad (it is the tensioner) and they aren't hard to replace. Once nice thing to have is a mechanic's stethescope, it really helps isolate noises and can be bought extremely cheaply. B
  8. Kingman is right, not knowing what is in there from the PO is bad, and mixing is not a good idea either. In the hope of avoiding costly tranny repair, I would drain the oil and replace it with GL-4 or equavalent synthetic, 'overfilling' it as well. At least you will know what is in it and that the level is right, setting a maintenance point as well. B (I do miss my 5 speed...)
  9. Looks like you are having a hell of a lot more fun than most of us! Keep it up, and we'll sit here envious... B
  10. All of the above is correct. Here is the info Bud... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/2621-manual-transmission-tsb/ B
  11. It is nice to have in cold/snow country Nunyicle... B
  12. Have you 'overfilled' you tranny with 5.1 liters (5.5 quarts) of GL-4 only gear oil as per the TSB? B
  13. I understand, but didn't take quite that long to figure out; maybe only 1.5 years... Living in SoCal gives you a pass card though, when is the last time you have seen frost? B
  14. Thanks for your input, I was actually waiting for it. I will read that link tomorrow, thank you for it. B
  15. I'm not an oil expert, but it would seem that it is compatable... These tests/standards have me curious though... B
  16. Yes, they exist and your Pathy should be wired for them. I know what your next search is... B
  17. Is that GL-4 (soft, yellow metal) compatible? You need to be sure or it will do more harm than good. Otherwise, sounds like you have it under control. B
  18. So the cheapest trick is the right fix? B
  19. There is obviously something wrong with the system, either sensitivity or proportioning. Fix it, don't mod and remove it. Dude, you worry about the color of your phone! Next you'll swear that Bieber understands and incorporates the Blues... B
  20. That would be a reasonable assumption, although if that option was available in other countries it still might be wired for them. For that year range, I'd pull the door pannel and check first, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to wire them in regardless. B
  21. Nissan seemed to wire vehicles for every option back then, making upgrades easy. I'm pretty sure the wiring will be plug and play. I didn't do the swap, both of mine were purchased with them. B
  22. Good time to do it! Yes, someone has but I can't recall who. Maybe Leo94. Quite a few heated mirrors out there, both of my 1995 XEs had them. Quite handy! Funny story Is I had no idea until one frosty morning when I turned on the rear defroster while it warmed up and saw the mirrors steaming. Surprised the hell out of me when they were warm to the touch! B
  23. I think you are at the point where you have to mount them and see. It's going to be close, so probably not a lot of modding but I think the key is with rims of the stock width and back spacing. I do not recall anyone else running 34" tires. B
  24. All I have been able to dig up from the FSM is that the input voltage is 11-14, and the output voltage is "Less than 1 volt with ignition on, engine off, and aproximately 1.5-2.0 volts, engine warm, idling, no load". B
