  1. Using the relay diagram I ran main power from battery thru floor on passenger side. Drilled hole for access to cab. Painted hole with primer and sealed with Marine goop. Placed relay in center console w/ e-brake. placed switch on center console on driver side of e-brake. (keeps pesty passengers from pressing your buttons) Continued main wiring up driver side behind door. Being a 2dr the 4x4 emblem pops out and you can get wire out of cab thru this access. Ground from lights followed same route as main power. Grounded at mounting bolt for driver seat. Power for the switch to relay was ran under driver side carpet to fuse box. I simply wedged the end of wire in with the fuse for the wipers. (probably not professional but very effective) Lights will only function when ignition is on. However there is nothing to keep me from looking like a dork. I do that quite naturally. roof lights Removing the front seat will save a lot time.
  2. So Grumpy, what was the end result. Did the work get done? Did you get a better price. Just being nosey.
  3. Pinstripe remover The one I have will work on a drill, it was purchased from an Auto Detailer shop. They are not shelf items, but any locally owned shops will probably sell too you. I not sure if the ones on the linke are interchangeable from air tools.
  4. Mine was just muffler and tailpipe, less than $200. http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...=0entry113144 You might want to call for estimates instead of in person. The sight of young college student asking for estimates in person may automatically inflate the price. I would be interested to know if the same price would be quoted to an older person.
  5. I can take the starter back out and confirm it works by hot-wiring while not installed. But I can drag the Pathy in Neutral wheels roll fine. Put in gear the wheels lock. I took this to mean engine is seized. I put in 4hi the first time but was actually in neutral. Got tired of screwing with it and just dropped in 4lo and 4th gear. Figured if shifter was all the way down I wouldn't mistake 4hi for neutral. Didn't get home til after dark today, so I will try again a couple more times. remove oil pan like k9sar suggested. also try to drag in 4hi to break free.
  6. Yeah. that's the one everybody warned me about. I thought if I got past the wiring problems everything else would fall in place. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8024&hl=
  7. I'm pretty sure I'm in over my head. Engine is seized. Tried pulling, just drug the back wheels. Put in 4lo and 4th gear. Drug all four wheels. Was not expecting it to be seized. I have had diesel sitting in for a week. must now consider parting her out. I will drink a bottle of merlot and grill a ribeye while I sulk and mull it over. The income tax check came in and the boss wants her bathroom remodeled. I will keep ears open for suggestions. I've heard of pulling motor and using heat and hammer to persuade. I don't have room, tools or time to do right. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8024&hl= If I get to parting it out I will post new thread. -alcohol- in that order. anybody got any cheese?
  8. Oh well starter won't turn! I hear the solenoid click, but no turn. gave a couple taps, no different. i'm afraid to tap while juice is on. The valve covers and air intake are off and engine full of diesel. I will get key made and drag in gear to make sure all water is out.
  9. 2 sizes as in longer length or larger diameter? The new liner is about .375", a lot thicker than the old. The plastic plugs weren't long enough to engage. I agree it would look better, it they make them longer I will look into it. As far as looks you practically have to remove the tire to see them.
  10. I figured it would stripped and left on side of road by now.
  11. Nice UCA'S. Actually you were my inspiration from a post probably a year ago. Went to the J/Y and starting cutting the mud flaps off an RV. This vagrant looking guy comes out cussing that i'm tearing up his house. I guess they let him live there to watch the place at night. He was pretty scary. Never went back and started looking for another way.
  12. A buddy talked me into buying a pathy. My first 4x4 ever. Got stuck 20' from the road on my first trail. Same buddy convinced me I needed the tallest tires that would fit. That internet search brought me here! Never been member of any other kind of forums. Never chatted. All the answers are right here!
  13. weighed suggestions and updated page Take 2
  14. When I drained oil about a quart of water came out with it. no rust thankfully. I can use air and wd40 on the top. this will not do anything with water in the bottom (or will it?). Maybe draining oil pan and changing oil filter enough I don't know. I am in it over my head, but can see the surface barely.
  15. Hey guys I'm ready to flush engine for flooded '92 pathy. I have removed starter and want to put direct lead to a battery. Which is positive which is ground. I want to run a lead wire from positive battery post to starter connector on the bottom of picture. then run lead wire from stud w/ nut at top to the negative post on battery. I would use jumper cable clamp on the negative battery post as a manual stop/start. Could someone please confirm postive/negative side to starter? I will accept any advice regarding a safer and smarter solution. BTW. The '92 has been flooded. currently the ECU is pulled as is Dash and practically every interior connector. I now have valve covers, plugs, air-intake pulled. ready to fill with diesel and flush. Any help is appreciated, Dan
  16. What are you planning on using?
  17. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=121&hl= http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8220&hl= Sounds about right.
  18. Just listen to FM. Rush is all you can hear on AM anyway. Just kidding do you hear the rpm's thru the speakers? A bad ground can could be the cause. I'm sorry but I don't know a lot about radios.
  19. You've probably already been thru your umpteenth set of mud flaps. I tried to make my own with some wire mesh reinforcement. The hope is that it will prevent cracking at the attachment points. This is my first webpage and first homemade mudflap. Feel free to critic' and even make fun of. I hope it post correctly. MUDFLAP DIY (Edited title to Fender Liner)
  20. All my dad ever gave me was a single shot 16GA. -argue- Enjoy!
  21. I would replace whole thing. I replaced my running lights because they were cracked. I didn't consider trying to salvage covers for that reason. My advice is based off how easy it was to remove them. I have not removed my tail lights but don't think they would be any more difficult. Someone else may need to correct me though
  22. You might try to scavenge some replacement lights from the JunkYard. The good thing is all fit up thru '92 I think when they changed body style. Contact with the bulb sounds like your problem. If you go by way of junkyard, snag a new light switch too. It's an easy swap and can address the contact issue from both ends. I'm curious did all lights go out a once?
  23. How serious are you about it? Harbor freight has the cheapest. You will get what you pay for. Here's a pretty recent thread. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=8257&hl=winch In all honesty that's is what I bought. I still have stock bumper and any decent winch will rip it off. Good bumper should be higher priority.
  24. Sewer Pipe I was not trying to be critical, but see now that it did sound that way. My apologies. Very nice install, clean. Gives engine bay lots of character.
  25. Very nice Luker, I can't believe I missed this post earlier. How much clearance from top of filter to hood in closed position? If the filter was angled up a little, would gravity encourage more oil to find it's way to the oil pan and make less spill? Are the hoses runing down firewall zip tied? If so do they require padding to protect from cuts?
