  1. The Xterra's have plastic ramps in their auto locking hubs.... Upgrade??? If you need to replace your lower ball joints on an X you have to replace the whole lower control arm... Upgrade??? Xterra's have leaf springs in the rear.... Upgrade???
  2. I just bought a combo guage. It has oil pressure, volts, and temp. I've searched the forums and found that the oil pressure sending unit is by the oil filter. The one I bought has a tube that carries oil to the pressure gauge. Is this the right one? Also where the heck is the original water/coolant temp sensor, and when I hook up my new one will the stock one not work anymore? I was considering using the water temp guage as a tranny temp guage... Will that work? I already have the crapola water temp on the dash so I could leave that alone and just use the new one for tranny temp right?
  3. That's the order we did it in. There really wasn't anything hard about it, but it was kinda time consuming with all the bolts and nuts to twist on. The only problem we had was with the autohub... No real problem tho, we just broke one of the bolts on the passenger side.
  4. This right here is a prime example of how good online forums and some of the people on them are... That's the local forum that Big Mike and me are part of here in Texas. Just look at the times/dates and how fast I had 3 people willing to help me out. I got'em fixed today with skilled help. I can't thank those guys enough. True friends. I can't wait to hit the trails with those guys and do some good wheelin soon.
  5. Well, I went to get my new pathy aligned today and found out that all 4 ball joints need to be replaced. I'm mainly not interested in paying a local shop $500 (that's the quote for parts, labor and alignment)... I can get all four MOOG ball joints for $186.14 at O-O-O-Oreilly's(E-Discount) and it's $112.54 for the cheapo's... That's a $73.60 difference... Is it worth the extra $$$ for MOOG? Is this something I can do in one day by myself? I need the experiance anyway, I just don't know what all I'm getting myself into. I mainly don't want to get it tore apart and then decide I'm in over my head. I've searched a little on the subject and found bits and pieces of knowledge but nuthin that's a step-by-step. Thanks for any advice.
  6. I had my firestik mounted on the spare tire carrier on my the pathy. I was told by a few people that it's not a good idea because of grounding issues..? I never had a problem.. As for the grounding issues, you could always attach a small ground wire from the carrier to the frame. Something that has room to move when you open and close it.
  7. A guy I know did that with his chevy blazer and it ended up acting like a locker that was on all the time. Tore his tires up pretty quick, but he probly added 1-2 too many. I figure I'll be able to find someone on a local nissan forum that want swap out and we can help each other do the swap. Free LSD for the open carrier... But it'll work, right?
  8. It probly wouldn't hurt to get some SeaFoam and add that to your gas and pour a little into your trottlebody... I used some on a 89 toyota pick that I'm driving and it made a world of difference. I was having an idling problem with that truck also. Now it's smooth as hell.
  9. Ya, they say that about most if not all the plugs... I've checked enough to know better. A lot are off by .005 which is unacceptable mainly because they are wide .005 then as you use them they only get wider... I've heard that some guys will even set their plugs a little short of the required gap because the electrode gets shortened with use. That way you get "good" proformance longer.
  10. Soooo, I finally got my new pathy and thankfully it came with rear disc brakes. As some of you know I'm quite fond of the locked rearend. My question is can I still get an open diff carrier since I've got rear disc brakes??? I know the disc brake axle shafts are different in some way, but are the side gears the same? The main reason I'm asking is because I'm pretty sure any pathy that came with disc brakes from the factory would have also come equipt with a LSD rearend as that's an upgrade feature also. I really, really want to slap a lock right in asap. Then I'll worry about welding up the front.
  11. Click here for some JGC lift coils. They give a JGC with a V8 3.5in. of lift, just think how high that pathy rearend will be. These are cheaper, but you gotto put in your zip and follow a couple of links. Both are under $200 tho. Click here for coils.
  12. I like that new Toby Keith song. I think it's called "I ain't as good as I once was" That guy has giving alot of good stuff to counrty music. Lots of great songs and lots of attitude. I HATE women counrty singers tho.... Mosty I've been listening to a lot of mid to late 90's alternative rock and rock. Good memories attatched to most of those "old" songs. My excuse for listening to counrty is: for one I was raised on that and classic rock, and the main reason is that my wife hates almost any rock cause she likes R&B, so we listen to counrty togather in the pathy because it's the only thing we both kinda like. PS: I hide the fact the I listen to cuntree to most of my friends because they all hate it.
  13. You should also inform your friend that MOST car dealers will accept anything that rolls as a $1000 trade in then they tack the cost onto the end price of the new car... They always come out smelling like a rose. Talk him into selling it to you for $500, then buying a junker off someone for $100-200 and using that as the trade in. My pathy that I just bought this week was sold 1 year ago to some poor sap for $9500 from Bill Heard Chevy then repoed, bought at a bank auction from a used car dealer, then sold to me for $3495 with only 71,140 miles on it. I almost feel like calling the previous owner to say thanks. :cool2:
  14. What's with the damn 9 at the end of gas prices??? I don't see how this is even legal. They should just call it what it is $2.66, otherwise I want my damn 1/10 of a penny cut off and ready to go when I get my change.
  15. I clicked the link in your sig... :o I feel used.
  16. Cool, I bought'em for $5 apiece from Oreilly's (employee discount) It's a crap job as far as the $$$ is concerned, but the e-discount is great. I can get all three belts for $1.86 apiece for example. Not to mention the discount on alt's, starters, cv's, ect... I probly won't be working there much longer tho... I'm looking for a good welding job.. :type:
  17. Yep, it sure is. $3495- 71,000miles- no rust- 95LE
  18. I bought the Iridium IX from NGK and was noticing that the electrode is very small and it looks like it would break if you try to set the gap. Are these plugs not suppose to be gapped?
  19. Some good deals to be found here... He's parting out his hardbody. It's worth a look. He's got some good stuff on that thing. I wish I could come up with $300 for that detroit locker...
  20. I bought one... Click here to check it out...
  21. I'm actively looking for a pathfinder to buy. So the higher gas prices are in my favor...
  22. I already have him down to $2900, but the tranny fliud is whats got me worried. I think I'm gonna pass on it... It may be from the East coast, but it's now on the middle coast. Houston, TX
  23. Every time I see new pathfinders (05's) I have to wait till I get a side view to tell whether it's a minivan. First time I saw one I thought it was the new Quest.
