Sounds like a pump seal is either loose or totally blown to me. You might be better off just going to the JY and getting a whole new pump assembly and swapping out the crapped up one. I don't know if repair kits are readily available but I'm sure rebuilding it is possible. It may be just as much as getting new one though...

Get those tires rebalanced and re-aligned. I had the exact same issue and that's what fixed it. Needless to say, it also scared the hell outta me.

Do you consider a 6" lift to be too much for an IFS like the R50?

Depends on the width, too. With the 32x10's I've got now on 16x8, 3.75" backspacing provides only minimal clearance from the strut. I plan on going with 33x12.5" tires and would prolly need 2.75-3" BS to clear the strut. I'm still unsure how all this works though...

How did you lock in the LSV? That sounds like a great idea but a little confusing to me.

Yeah, it'll be a breeze to strongarm a 4,200 lb. SUV... I think the best solution is to get a smaller sandwich plate made. Seems better than trying to get a custom steering pump tensioner bracket made.

Severe fender modification without lift installed. Even with the typical 2" coil lift, 33's will be really tight.

That seems like quite a daunting task to me... I'd say check out a JY or eBay and just pick up a new housing... Meh.

It was done, but not by me. I could ask my mechanic what he did to adjust it. Honeslty, the before and after difference was negligible. With the SFD coming, I'm a bit skeptical to just leave it. I'll look into this with my hook-up @ Nissan either way.

Yup, the AC coils tend to give a less raked look than the OME. But needless to say, they ride great. I think it's just my city's sh*tty-ass roads, loaded with ruts and divets and bumps...

Fueler, if you think the AC coils are bad, try the OME HD coils... Sure they're stiff and allow for great handling, but sh*t, I top out on inch-high ruts... Hopefully spacers and a 110lb. bumper will help soften 'em up. I understand this concept of where the spacer is located in relation to how the CV axle sits along with the strut extension. NX4's model really does a good job to alleviate stress on the CV axles and struts.

Whoa, that's f*ckin' sweet! I helped my buddy swap a SR in his '89 240SX but it's still pretty much bone-stock... But sh*t, I'd love to see that NX. I'm definitely game for some car/truck chat sometime.

Thanks for the tip, Dan. I didn't even notice that until looking at the pics after you mentioned that...

So here's how it went down... First: This was my first step, getting off the skid plate. Pretty self-explanatory... Next: Here's how the filter's situated. IMO, Nissan dropped the ball... Notice the steering rack and clutter all around it. Next: Here's why I hate aforementioned location. Remove the filter, and bam! Oil everywhere... I even jacked up the left side of the Pathy to allow for as much oil to come out the of oil plan drain as possible. Still, a fail nonetheless. Finally: My attempt at installing the filter sandwich plate proved useless. Notice the steering pump pulley tensioner bracket hanging? As soon as I did that, my belt became loosey goosey, not to mention I could not longer remount the bracket with the sandwich plate on. If nothing else, I learned a hard lesson: changing oil on the R50 will be a chore, unless... There are two options that may still allow for proper installation of this relo kit: 1) Getting a new sandwich plate made in smaller dimensions to allow for installation without removing the steering pump pulley tensioner bracket; or: 2) Getting a custom-built steering pump pulley tensioner bracket made to allow for clearance of the sandwich plate included with this kit. Needless to say, this isn't over. My stubborn nature just won't allow that.

Sorry for the lateness ya'll... Well, I tried. And I failed... ...Not without a fight, mind you. The only issue I confronted during this attempted install was the power steering pump bracket. It passes right by the filter and quite closely I might add. So I tried to install the sandwich plate but that bracket prevented me from actually doing so. I took pics of my "progress" and will post 'em later. In the meantime, I need food and a beer or 10.
