Asshat. I cleaned the TB on my R50 because the throttle was sticking. If it hadn't been sticking and filthy with crud, I would've left it alone.

A lot of companies out there offer equally-priced parts which tend to perform better and last longer.

Agreed. My buddy (wannabe mechanic) told me I should do a flush because the PS fluid "looked and smelled burnt". My other buddy (certified Nissan mechanic with 14 years experience) rightfully disproved that remark. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Well, I plan on runnin 33x12.5 tires when I go through with a subframe drop so 15x10 wheels would be ideal; I'm just not sure what backspacing the wheels would need to clear the struts. Right now I'm running 32x10.5 tires on 15x8 4.75" BS wheels and there's still about a 1/2" of space between the meat and the strut. Thanks! So would a 33x12.5 tire mounted on a 15x10 wheel with a 4" BS be enough to clear the strut in the front? I'm having considerable difficulty finding wheels with less BS.

Thanks, Boston. I'm still deciding on wheels, but I know for once I go SFD, tires will be 33x12.5 for sure. My guess is a 10" wide wheel will be ideal. As for trimming, I'm hoping to keep it to as little as possible. TJM will be installed, too, which should help clearance.

These two screws are what help fine-tune the idle. So I adjusted the bottom one ( I ) while the engine was running, and played around with it until the idle sat at 750rpm. I double-checked everything, took the rig for a spin around the block and now it's all good. I'll let it cool down and take it for another spin later, to see if any further adjustment is needed.

So I was able to fix the issue and idle is back where it should be (~750rpm) but I am still going to go forward with new TB hardware and get a Nissan mechanic to calibrate everything.

I'm surprised BFG doesn't have anything. If you're willing to check out other brands, Toyo's worth a look for sure. I've got the Open Country A/Ts on my '98 and they are absolutely wonderful.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty positive it's just the hardware. On the TB temp. reg. cam, there's a fin with two notches. At cold and hot, the notches don't line up with the TB pin. So my guess is the hardware needs to be readjusted or replaced. I'll check out my TB sensor, too, just to make sure.

So the drums are also bigger on the 2nd gen R50s? I knew the front brake hardware was larger... Would a 15x10 4" BS wheel, fitted with a 33x12.5 tire clear the strut? Methinks a wheel spacer would be crucial for this to work.

I don't have a link or pics but I've seen this done on a '98 and that 1" gap was filled with rubber stripping. It looked quite good.

BFG must make A/T tires in the same dimensions as your R50s stock meats. Don't quote me on that, though...

Thanks, braskie. I'll take a look at that. Knowing my luck, I nudged or knocked something while cleaning the TB and it's most likely just an easy fix.

Thanks for the suggestion but I know for sure it has to do with hardware being out of whack. Perhaps I nudged something when I was cleaning the TB, I don't know. All I know is the temp. reg. cam spring needs readjusting. How I go about doing that is still beyond me.

Awesome! Those 909s are rad too. And they're made in 15x10.

Nissan dealership is where I got 'em. Luckily, I didn't pay for them. Symptons are cracks/splits and general deterioriation. If you let them get too far-gone, there can be pretty significant play in the steering. Although my left bushing is starting to look pretty bad, the right side is still fine. I do plan on installing the new ones before too long; I just need access to power tools as the bolts are pretty snug behemoths.
