  1. -thnkboutit- BAH....well it looks like i'll be paying dealer cost for this one. Get this, The JY won't sell me the pressure switch b/c after they remove it, the pump is useless and they can't sell it. What a frickin joke! thats like saying they can't sell me a water pump b/c then the engine is useless...un-frickin-believable.
  2. Hey good call! Come to think of it, my gf has an 87 sentra  ...hmm..she'd never know.
  3. whoa, i hadn't checked back to this thread for a couple days, thanks for all the info Redpath and Slick! I knew I should've grabbed one when i was at the JY a while back. Nearest JY with any Pathfinder's is over 2 hrs away! The search begins!
  4. For the bumpers and tire carrier, I would highly recommend getting them sandblasted and powdercoated. It can get pricy, but should not ever rust again and you get a rock hard finish with the powdercoat. As for the rockers, best bet would be to cut them off and have a shop bend some sheet metal into the same shape and weld them on. Thats what I did and you'd never know they weren't factory. I think new panels are something insane, like $800 for a new rocker panel from Nissan and no company's make jobber panels. Edit: There is no point in rolling bed liner overtop of paint on a rusty panel, chances are it is rusting from the inside and will rust away under the rhino-liner. You'd be better off getting new panels and then coating them.
  5. My '88 didn't come with flares either. Before putting on a used set that I found, I used POR-15 on the area that is hidden under the flares. It seems to be working OK, some flaking though.
  6. yeah, i'd like to know more about this too. Driving without your wheel alignment of whack seems like it'd be a good thing??
  7. It is ridiculous. The Nissan dealer in town is notorious for being about as useful as a chocolate teapot. She faxed me a couple more diagrams and I pointed it out for her. $109 CAN. Thanks for the heads-up Slick, i'll hit up a J/Y this weekend.
  8. Well I just called the dealer and they don't know what its called either. They even faxed me some part diagrams from the FSM and I can't find it on there...argg.
  9. Howdy folks, Does anybody know the name of the sensor that threads into the front of the power steering pump...I think? It sits right behind the rad. and its a small grey box with 2 wires coming out of it and those thread into the PS harness, I believe. I got into a smash-up and my rad. came back and broke it off....then the fan belt shredded the two wires off. Hope it isn't too pricey, i've already dumped enough coin into repairing this thing. I think the sensor controls idle speed...so when your truck isn't moving your idle will increase to pump your power steering fluid, but i'm not sure. Thanks for any info.
  10. I'm down for 2 white. Are these the same design as DJ DANKS?
  11. Hey 94, There is a HB getting parted out on the AC forum, he might have a shifter.
  12. lol, wow sorry haven't checked back to this post til today. NO we definitely cannot shoot out of our windows! When I said spotting scope, I meant spotting scope...like binoculars, not the scope mounted on my rifle. Sorry for any misunderstanding. I would never even consider carrying a loaded firearm in my vehicle, let alone fire one out of the window.
  13. Yeah, you should get on the phone and call some auto-wreckers. Even if you need to drive a few hours, you can normally get all your parts for cheap, and no shipping charges!
  14. Yeah, I have an 88 and the thing rev's like mad on cold mornings...saw it go up to 2100rpm once when it was near -50C outside and then once it's warm it kicks down to about 8-900rpm. I don't like the sound of it but I'm not sure how to reduce the RPM's at early idle.
  15. I have the AC coils and UCA's. You will get mixed reviews around here on AC products. Personally, besides being a PITA to get aligned, the UCA's haven't caused me any grief and are functioning properly. The springs seemed like they actually gave more than a 3" lift in the rear and I got 3" in the front after cranking the T-Bars. There are other cheaper options though, I bought my UCA's used for cheap and I snagged the coils on eBay for cheap too. If I was buying new I'd probably just get a set of JGC coils and some RoughCountry UCA's. I think the RC UCA's are easier on the balljoints.
  16. Well I guess some 88's had the illuminated controls and some didn't. because my face plate is solid black plastic. It'd be sweet to have them light up, but then again, its just 4 controls to remember. The light is directly behind the face plate, so I think that wierd panel you saw is the light. Its a flat silver/clear panel with a small bulb in the middle.
  17. No dice, there is a light behind the cover, but its damn near useless with the solid black cover. worst design on earth. And to make it even stranger, my gf has an 87 nissan sentra and the bloody controls are illuminated!? Figure that one out.
  18. LOL, Wow, did this job get alot uglier than it should've been. After some cursing and head scratching I got the dowder cables unhooked and the assembly pulled right out. Now, time for a beer....or 6. Thanks.
  19. So now I need to re-soder that wire and figure out how the hell these parts (minus the penny) get put back into the box!??!! :furious:
  20. This is a view from under the box. Its blurry, but the wire on the far right is broken away, so that is probably the problem.
  21. This is where the small box with the springs in it is, under the control knob.
  22. OK I managed to get some pics of this gong show but i'm incredibly brutal with pics and don't know how to resize without distorting the pic. Here is the dash so far:
  23. Now that i read your post again, i see the boot is nearly torn right off and you are hearing noises in 4WD, so a new axle soon would be a good call.
