Bummer. Mine is pretty rough on the driver-side too. It took a lot of beating and banging to get the HB headlight bucket to go in. I'd say your best bet is going to be to find a good donor. I've seen a few good write-ups by 240SX owners who were forced to go this route. Check Google. Be sure to check your frame too. If it's hounded, you might be better off finding another truck to swap your old parts onto. After years of wondering about it, I recently confirmed that my chassis was bent when the previous owner wrecked it. Now all I can do is thrash on what I've got until I find a deal on another in better shape. The give-away on mine is the space (or lack thereof) between the chassis and the torsion rods. I have a good 2" clearance on the p-side and it rubs on the driver.

You should be able to find a radiator support on eBay for cheap. If not, I'm pretty sure I saw one on RockAuto the other day. Now, that's just the front part (whats showing in B's sig photo there). If you're talking about what the fenders mount to, thats something else entirely (nissan calls it the Hood Ledge?). Nissan might sell those parts to you, but it'd be expensive and difficult to rebuild piece-by-piece. From what I've read, most major rebuilds involve cutting the trashy fender supports off and welding in the whole dog-house from a donor vehicle. Another option is to hook you truck to a tree and pull the squished parts out yourself. Just don't rip your front-end off on my account...

Yep, I'm totally jacking a 3-year old thread... Blame the search engine. I'm really interested in these OBX headers. I installed one of their first runs (before they even started marking them with their name) on my B13 and was very impressed. The price is awesome and I'd bet on them before I trusted Pacesetter. The lack of a Y-pipe is a big issue though. This is the only write-up I've seen on them and it seems like integrating them into the stock system was pretty complicated. I'm on a shoestring budget after replacing my transmission so I'm wondering, how bad would it be to get these, just clamp a set of turbo mufflers to the ends and call it a day. I can work out the rest later, but I don't want to risk hurting my engine... or upsetting me sposa.

Me too!

I thought about that, but as far as my tires stick out, I've never really bothered folding them. With these rims, if I'm close enough to rub the mirror, I'm prolly close enough to rub sidewall. It's the crazy unforeseen stuff like I mentioned that I'm focused on avoiding. However, I think this could be also be done by using the two screws at the bottom of the mirror base for attachment. I think a swivel would be easier there.

Well, I suppose I'll have to be content with being alone on this. I still think its a good idea... or one that I'll obsess over for a while anyway. Re-engineering ANYTHING is easy. Building is less so. Case in point... This sandwiches between the door and the mirror's base. Plate 1 is a spacer for plate 2, which should save the need to bend the tabs to match the door's contour.

No, it was a stock power mirror donated from the same year as mine. Snapped like a twig tho. I couldn't believe it. Its not like I jumped up or anything. Just the act of raising up from a crouch and catching my shoulder broke it at the swivel. Leo, I think you've got it right about the vertical impacts. If nobody else has looked into this, I may tool around on Sketchup and see what I can come up with. I don't think it would take much to keep this from happening again.

So, while I was changing the transmission, I rolled out from under the truck, stood up and my shoulder bumped the D-side rear view, snapping it at the base. This is the second power mirror I've had to replace. The first had been broken and swapped with a manual before I bought the truck. I get the impression that these things aren't very sturdy. I'm thinking that some sort of guard is in order. If nothing else, to protect my truck from it's clutz of an owner. Has anyone ever built or bought anything like this?

It looks like an Isuzu Amigo (two door Rodeo). I almost bought one of those when I was stationed in Chicago. It was lifted on beefy tires, but it was salmon pink with green pinstripe. *gag*

All 3 Y-pipe gaskets, $23 from NAPA. Same gaskets from Rock Auto... $5 shipped. Welcome to the cyber economy you gouging basterds.

There's too much cool going on here for me to bother listing any knit-picking complaints. Awesome truck.

What do you think about this but a Pathy?

We're veering from the point. Pathfinder... Racing Paint... Possibly Baja... Trying to match Spencer Low Hardbody clone... GO! -

Ya, that'd be awesome. The nice part about Nissan's parts-bin designs is that you can swap in a lot of the race parts from the more popular cars. Jim Conner! I think thats it... Though, I can't find anything on the baja pathfinder now. SPD Fabrication says they built two of the trucks pictured. I'm sure I saw a few with the factory livery before... maybe Connor. I don't remember. http://www.spdproducts.com/trucks.htm -

It looks like a good part of the body's floor has been cut away. I'd venture to guess that much of the exterior has been replaced with fiberglass. The back windows are filled for vents and fuel fillers. I saw another company team that ran a setup like this at Baja. I wish I could remember the name. They made WD21 parts back in the day, which is how I stumbled across them in the first place. Though, they specialized in 2x4 pre-runner stuff. I'll bet the parts would be worth a lot now. -

I beg to differ... Google will come up with a few of these, most from companies and teams that are long since gone. I lost all of my Pathy-specific bookmarks a while back, so I can't really point out a good source. -
Endorse all you want. If ES puts the wrong parts in the right box, your beloved retailer accounts for dick. Just an update; These jerks are at it again. After calling on the Sentra bushings, they promised to figure out the mix up and send my swaybar kit post haste... Which arrived today... Short about 20 parts. Instead of a kit, they just sent 2 swaybar bushings. Just the bushings. No end links. No grommets. No hardware. Now, up until now I've been relatively patient on my calls, but this is just retarded. Somebody down there is smoking some serious reefer. Maybe the BBB will have the number of someone there worth talking to. Maybe I'll get a whole kit in someday if I bother them enough. If I still lived in SoCal, you can bet I'd've been on their doorstep with a big stick already.

Haynes is the cliff's notes of the FSM. Check them together; There's places where it's word for word. Why pay $12 for the watered-down version when you can get the real stuff for free?
-
carry. Possibly, but what do you mean by "lost". Did you look very hard for them, or just say "fskc-it, I'll buy more"... 'cause that doesn't often work with metric vehicles. You can usually get little hardware like that from a junkyard for free. I'd recommend stocking up if you make a run.

I've mentioned this a few times over the last few weeks, but I figure it was time to thread the topic. I ordered two ES kits for my 21 two weeks ago from energysuspensionparts.com (AKA Del Sol Tuning of Stephenville, TX.) for my sway bar and compression rods. The company was listed on ES's official web site as an online retailer and their prices were pretty good. When the parts came in, the C-rods were fine, but in the box for the sway bar (which was of the right size and marked with the proper part no.), was yet another set of c-rod bushings... and nothing else. WTF? Dreading the coming ordeal, I e-mailed the retailer's customer service. As per internet standards, it took a full week of daily correspondence before they came up with a solution... "It's not our problem, call Energy Suspension." So I did. Which led to a long drawn-out phone call while the salesman complained about how the retailer is always trying to screw them and how he really shouldn't be helping me. Then he asks for the part number on the bushing packed in the box, which I relate as 7100. "No such thing", he says, "It must be a Prothane part that the retailer switched.", but they'll hook me up with a free sway kit anyway, because they're cool like that. Now, I know an ES bush when I see one and I know these aren't Prothane, so a quick search on the net reveals this. Sorry Jack, whether you like it or not, this screw-up came from the factory. But the new parts are on their way and I've just scored a free set of spare strut bushings, so who am I to complain... Right? Wrong! Apparently Energy Suspension can't even pack a warranty order correctly. After another week of waiting, my package arrived today in a bulk media mailer (no pretty ES retail box for this disgruntled customer). Inside I found a plastic bag containing bushings for the bar and enough to outfit one end link. No endlink bolts included. WTF again? Maybe I saw the pics wrong? So back to the web I went, searching through all kinds of posts about ES/Pathfinder installs and every picture looks the same. These are not the right parts. So I check the part numbers. 7.5115R. That's right isn't it? Check the previous invoice.. 7.5117R. Ah, missed it by one digit. Now I'm stuck with a set of sway bushings for a 91 Sentra. I'm about 7 hours and a heated phone call away from telling Energy Suspension to kiss my ass, I'm going to the BBB.

Best procedure for WD21 compression rod bushings
crazyhayseed replied to sewebster's topic in The Garage
If you're going to go crazy trying to mount these bearings you keep going on about, there won't be a need for washers. The way I mention is the cheap and easy way. Just fix the oblong holes in your frame buy welding the washer in place. -
Obviously....

That's weird. If your alternator wasn't regulating voltage, I'd think you'd pop a ton of stuff before you fried the ECU... Like the headlights. In fact, I did have that problem with my 94 B13, and that's exactly what it did. Having the alternator tested would be good if you can find a shop that will give you something better than a Go/No Go test (ie: an actual Voltage measurement). Ultimately though, I think you'll need to trace you harness from the box and look for bad juju.

Why did my odometer start working again?
crazyhayseed replied to zack1978's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
You can try to rationalize it all you want, but I prefer the gremlins theory. G -
HKS made an exhaust system for the WD21 back in the day (Tuesday). If you can find one, you'll be the king of swing in my book.
