Damn! Well my only choice is to go with what I have. I called Courtesy, but they can't tell me anything new about it. Apparently, if you don't know what your transmission is, you're SOL. So, for anyone thinking about replacing their drivetrain, MAKE SURE IT MATCHES WHAT CAME OUT!!! I ordered the pinion gear. 20 teeth to match the XE. It's a total crap-shoot, but $30 wasted is better than not trying at all. Maybe I'll write a how-to on this when I get it done. I find the lack of information disheartening.

Ok, I found the gear at Courtesy. 20 teeth for my XE. Even more of a relief was that their sensor looks just like the one I bought from Parts Train. But here's where the plot thickens. Why does the sensor I took out look nothing like that which replaces it? In fact, it actually resembles the sensor courtesy lists as 93 and below... But I thought everything under 94 still had the cable speedo? Too weird. Maybe some dingbat replaced the tranny with an older model before I got it. That being a possibility; how am I ever going to match the splines on the pinion?

Me too. There's actually a couple companies that offer cowl hoods for the HB. I've not seen one on a Pathy yet, but I'd sure like to. The HB headlight swap is easy. Just pull the buckets and bulb connections from a junkyard donor. It's a bolt-on / wire nut affair.

So, the VSS on my '95 has been broken since I got it three years ago. I'm finally getting around to replacing it. The trick is, the replacement doesn't match the original... There's no gear attached. I've searched like crazy, but I can't find one that does. The old gear doesn't come off. Its molded to the shaft. I know this because, after a couple taps with a hammer, I got to see the cut-away view. Has anyone replaced the electronic speed sensor? Can you tell me how this is supposed to work? The FSM is absolutely useless in this case.

It's mounted outside on the right, toward the rear. Be carefull when handling the trans, as the sensor can snap off. Mine was gone when I got the truck. I'm guessing it was taken out by seither some sort of road debris, like a gator, or by sliding over a rock (doubtfull, as the last owners didn't seem to be into the off-road thing). I have pics on here somewhere...

No. Obviously, if you can get away w/ +2", you'll be able to get by on +.5 with no major issues. I've driven 12.5" tires on 10" rims for >7 months daily. No problems. B, do you honestly believe that one puny HALF inch is going to noticeably effect tread life? Really? You're kidding right? Handling and sidewall rigidity? Are you making this up? And here I thought a larger tread footprint increased handling capability... Who knew.

HOLY @!*%! Your U-haul must be run by Nazis! I've NEVER had a problem renting equipment w/ my Pathfinder, even when they "recommended" otherwise. That's all it is really. It's never kept them from taking my money. I've towed several cars and box trailers w/ minimal incident... I did have breaking trouble the first time out, but that was more about inexperience than towing capability. I'll tell you what though; don't plan on breaking any speed or gas-mileage records! My Pathy doesn't even like to haul a trunk full of tools, let alone 4k+ car/trailer combinations.

I don't think the doors are going to offer much side-impact protection once you hack them as shown. It would probably be safer (and easier to cut) to go w/ an elipse no more than 1/4 down from the window. The natrual carbon composite (plywood) doors are just plain awful. I'm with the tube door crowd, but that'll probably look kinda goofy on a 4 door. Have you considered just getting wider tires so they're easier to see? I never have a problem seeing from my stock doors, but I'm rolling 31x12.50 Pro-Comps.

Where does it say 4x4x4? Pics? Did somebody slap on a generic sticker, maybe? Don't be shy at the JY. Make friends, it'll help when they decide what they're going to charge you. There are used parts dealers online, but they're probably not worth the while. Stay local unless you absolutely can't find what you need. Ebay is another good source. Just stay away from "OEM" engine replacement parts. You'll usually find the quality lacking.

13 is a lot for a 93 pathfinder, no matter the condition, but that's one hell of a find. It would be a shame for an example like this to end up as a DD. It really should be kept as a collection piece at this point. I doubt there'd be much interest, but a 20 mile truck (regardless of make) deserves to live as a trailer queen for the rest of its days.

I just printed my own. Free ended up being much cheaper in the long run. Bad Pic, I know, but you get the gist.

The one pictured just plugs in as a replacement bulb. There are several styles and colors out there; some w/ just one LED, others with up to 9. You can get a larger Universal board with more LEDs (like edicer is talking about), but that needs to be wired. I've also seen larger boards pre-wired to bulb adapters that just plug into the dome light like a regular replacement... What you do with the board after that, I dunno. I would imagine that it takes a little finesse to get a square circuit board to fit behind the dome lens. Again, your best bet is going to be to search the webs. You'll find them on Ebay all day long.

The Pathfinder uses a #3175 bulb for it's dome light. There are LED replacements all over the net. Some are simple, some are complex. It depends how much output you're looking for. Search for "3175 LED"

Search Yahoo USA for the terms Taco, CK, CJ and (to a smaller extent)Ranger... That's where the American builders are hiding. It seems, until the release of the Titan, the US 4x4 aftermarket regarded Nissan as a step child. There really hasn't been a lot of support. Calmini, along with a few other small manufacturers mentioned often on this board are noteworthy however.

You can usually find the factory service manual at phatg20.net I'd give you a direct link, but it looks like the server may be down atm, or I'm blocked here at work. Give it a try.

I don't know when this was written, but I've read reports from the 90's that rated the 4-D WD21 much higher than this, particularly in the handling categories. I'm kind of disappointed, especially considering the comparison.

Cut should be cheaper than print. That's what I'm saying. The machine cuts the vinyl. No razors required. You just peel away the part that you don't want to use. Zibi, I see what you're saying. I'm pretty sure it depends on the program you're using to do the layout. I don't think you can apply a base jpeg or gif to a vector file can you? Will Adobe do that? We're talking about a small-time sign shop with basic tools and Photoshop skills. No heavy commercial graphics programmers here. If you just started from scratch with the specific NPORA font type, you could do what ever you want in any type of format. The design really isn't that difficult to reproduce.

Bummer. Why would they go to the trouble of printed vinyl? Just the cost of a sample would be more than a finished cut wouldn't it?

X2 Behind the truck are litterally 3 generations of spare parts, completely filling 2 metal shelf racks. Most of the coffee cans are older than I am. Everything about it sucks. I can never find what I need, they're a bitch to move, and they spill constantly. Bins are the way to go.... If you've got the room. Or you could stop being a pack-rat.

I used to refer to it as "the Pathfinder forum" when I was active on the other Nissan sites, but now it's just been shorted to "the forum". ie: "The guys on the forum say that Elvis lives in Palmdale..." It's "N.P.O.R.A." when I talk to others about it though... n-pora just doesn't sound right to me for some reason.

I've got access to a vinyl shop (or, my wife does anyway). I just need some high-rez images or a font name. silverlion, if they're trying to use low resolution images on poor quality equipment, you're stickies are going to look terrible. The image really needs to be sized at (at least) a 1:1 ratio.... Meaning, if you want a 36" banner, you're going to need a 36" image on your computer. Otherwise, when it tries to stretch the image to fit, the letters will look like they're built out of legos (pixilated). In this case, the bigger the starting image, the better. One color vinyl should be extremely cheap and easy. If someone wants to send me something, I can get a quote together.
