  1. it looks nice but i wonder why it's parked on the curb... you'll have to test drive it to make a better assessment...
  2. i'lll hopefully dig into my junk this weekend so i'lll let you know. it's been a long time since i've done one on a pathy but i don't think it was that much hassle...
  3. check your brake pads brother, that's prob. your problem...
  4. franco, 4k is decent, but from what i hear you could possibly find a better deal but i'd look it over. as to the rest check threads in garage and general forums for answers. this topic has been discussed v. recently

    weird

maybe it's the switch in the shifter area that's acting up... you know the switch that doesn't let you start the tk in anything but P or N...
  6. so nobody finds the fact that bama' has alcohol in his tranny (tranny wine,) funny?
  7. search for the lift topic. there has been a lot of discussion on that very subject. 88, has some great links to all the info you need. body lift is a PITA but i'll let you decide that...good luck
  8. run the ecu codes first... rich, hmm? maybe maf or map sensors but maybe somebody knows more about these then i do... tranny wine? check fluids in your tranny and diffs. also check your belts too. tranny cooler is a must...
  9. all of my cars die no matter how good the battery is, if it get's disconnected. try autozone or pep boys for cheaper parts...
  10. does your tk make a clunking noise when you shift the tranny from r-n-d? or the other way...
  11. madkiwi, thanks for the bulletin links.. interesting, i never heard about this. I am thinking you could just force an extra liter of gl in there w/ no prob. just put the spout of the oil bottle flat agains the hole and squeeze the bottle to empty it. then quickly replace the plug. that's way less hassle then the stickshift method you describe... you could raise the tk on the drivers side a bit too and that'd help to increase the amount you can put in there...
  12. darn, i missed that, you are right...
  13. well, go with the lowest amount of miles... I haven't experienced really any problems with the motors. the exhaust manifold studs breaking is the only "major" issue i can think of, I didn't have those problems on either of my pathys. auto trannies need an external oil cooler pronto.. check the fluid there to get a possible look at their condition... there are also some issues with the steering components but i haven't had any that were a huge headache... there are lsd (orange sticker) and non lsd rear diffs. i love my manual tranny in wheeling situations and think it's way better then the auto...
  14. you could also save big $$$ by removing the tranny from the tk and then replacing it after it has been "serviced"
  15. do it yourself...and save the dough then have a definately put in new clutch and components. you don't want to have to deal with that in a few months, do you? it may be worthwile to take it to a tranny shop to have them tell you what's wrong with the darn thing... good luck
  16. may want to look through some older (and new) threads here. there could be many different things you may want to investigate on these tks. depends on years and the like... depends what you want your tk for too...
  17. i don't know man...may want to put it up on some stands and have a helper depress the clutch and go through the gears while you look/listen down under there...
  18. just wait the TOM is being worked on right now...
  19. is that red line oil gl4? our tranny seems to not like gl5..from what i hear.
  20. you sure it's not some kind of heat shield...that's semi common in rolling/in gear situations...
  21. if anybody knows the ratios for an 94 XE, it would be appreciated...
  22. hate to burst your bubble here but since Mercedes became christlerised the quality has gone to the toilet (WC) A lot of loyal stuttgarders are going to Nippon for their luxry now...
  23. i think that's just wishfull thinking...
