Best of luck!

Try a good IAC, then maybe do a smoke test for vacuum leaks. Check Grounds and elec connectors. All that being good I'd do a compression and leak down test to rule out rings or valves.

Go through some of the older build threads and you will find plenty

Still available on eBay

At least you got it sorted!
-
Sounds like a fault with your headlight switch, or a crossed wire on one of the relays.

Awesome first rig for your boy! A great platform for him to learn how to maintain cars, and it will take him anywhere reliably. My WD was my first 4wd and it gave me such a sense of freedom (still does 20 odd years later!!), glad to hear your Son will get to take that journey, enjoy!

I've done 15,000km on my reconditioned transmission using ATF dex III and had no issues. The gent who recommended it has been building these gearboxes for decades. I dismissed this at first and put 80w90 in it, then 75W/90, and couldn't select gears when cold. Now it shifts great.

I run ATF Dex III in mine at the recommendation of the bloke who rebuilt my trans. Has never shifted so nicely.

The bent needle is more than likely binding against the speedo face. Very, very common. You can retrofit different needles to speedo and tacho.

Is it an auto? Make sure it's in Park. Sounds silly but my wife has done it before. Also, check your replacement starter off the car. Just because its new, doesn't guarantee it works, especially with aftermarket parts these days.
-
I'd just pull the wire off the starter and put a test light/multimeter on there as your first check, saves pulling the shroud off the column

I've had a windscreen leak along the top on my WD21 and my D22. Sealant can delaminate and allow water in.

Diesel is really the go if you plan on towing, although I have towed plenty with mine over the years, even cars on trailers. Do some digging and you'll find that the KA24DE can make plenty of power, they fitted them to the early (1999-2000) D22s. There is a guy on one of the facebook groups that has done the conversion using a D22 donor car, and he is rapt with how well it performs, and improved fuel economy.

Welcome! Central Vic here I have an 86 2 door as well and having the same Quandary. I have thought about a TD27 or QD32, but they are getting harder to find and long in the tooth, I've given thought to a ZD30 from a D22. I have also bought a KA24DE which is a straight bolt in, except you have to sort out the electrics and EFI Commodore V6 is still a good option, I have one of those too. For now it stays Z24 while I finish off a few other projects. What thoughts have you had?
-
Nope. Rear you will be able to source something, but you're going to run out of front suspension drop & CV joint at that height, you'd need to consider a SAS or custom coilover setup.

To be fair I have a full jerry can hanging off mine as well

Wow, that is ballsy trusting rivnuts

Planning WD21 Drum to Disc Conversion
FirstGenFreak replied to SquadCarPathfinder's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Yup, the rears only do about 20% of your stopping, the harder the stop, the further forward the weight transfer. Best bang for buck is the later twin piston calipers in the front and better pads (if you have an early girl) -
What to do with non-running '93 XE
FirstGenFreak replied to Busydaddy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Happy Holidyas and safe travels! Let us know how you go with the car. FYI, if you are on Facebook, there is an NPORA facebook page that probably gets a bit more traffic than the forum does these days -
Long range fuel tank D21/22 Terrano
FirstGenFreak replied to trekterrano's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
If you send me an email I can send you a few pics. (I can't shrink them down enough to be worth attaching. I can't see any identifiers on it, it is probably actually a Brown Davis Tank given they seem to be the only manufacturer. It is in good shape but will need a clean out. -

FirstGenFreak replied to Busydaddy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I hope you find a home for it, and I am sure it wouldn't take much to get her running! I'm too far away 0r I would be keen. -

I am not sure they are off-the-shelf now but more likely made to order. Great they are still available though! -
