  1. Did some investigating on the problem today, got to checking around the radiator, and found that it is leaking out of the cap. I bought a new one when i replaced the thermostat, but the top of the radiator is corroding so it definitely doesn't have a good seal. Theres a possibility of me putting in the thermostat wrong too. I have the radiator out, and its going to be rebuilt or if its not rebuildable, i'm getting a new one on tuesday. I'll be taking the thermostat out to make sure its in correctly, its not too hard with the radiator out of the way, and with a new or rebuilt radiator the problem should be resolved. The disappearing coolant seemed to only last for a little bit, the overflow reservoir has just been filling up, so hopefully this will be the fix. Theres no mixing in my oil, changed that today... so thats a good sign its most likely not the head gasket.
  2. i'm assuming the bubbler is the little metal piece that dangles inside a hole? on only one side of the t-stat? how would i check the compression of the cylinders? Pressurizing the cooling system? is there a special tool for this? Thanks! -Zepp
  3. I cant really tell any mixing, i had the pathy parked most of the weekend... i've driven it twice since, and everything goes straight into the overflow reservoir
  4. Take off the heat shield. I was going to do this and take a picture of my holes/broken studs... but it was cold outside, and i like the warmth of my house. anyway... That is their approximate location There are six bolts that you need to take off.. if i am remembering correctly, you will probably see holes, (i do at least) and that will tell you if its the manifold. I have one of my pieces broken off.... as Red said could happen... I'm skipping the fixing, and going straight for some thorley headers.... i can't wait til the pathy has a few more ponies and a new voicebox!
  5. Cool! thanks for the input guys.... today, and yesterday, its just been disappearing since the thermostat replacement... luckily work is less than a mile away, and school is just a bit further, so overheating isn't too much of an issue, and i have time before i really really have to take the pathy to the mountains (I WANT TO GO NOW!) to get it finally fixed! I'll check the head gasket, and the hoses... see if i can see any leaks anywhere... I'll report back if i find anything else! Thanks!
  6. WHen the pathy runs for a bit, it seems to lose its coolant, either by it magically disappearing, or by filling up the overflow reservoir. The Reservoir continually fills up but never empties on its own, back into the radiator, so i'm not sure if one of those tubes are clogged, or if something is wrong with the pressure somewhere? I read some other threads, and nothing seemed to be the same problem that i was looking at... I was getting sick of this, and finally had some time to tend to the pathy, so i bought a new thermostat, and rad cap. Replaced both, as well as flushing the radiator, the thing still does the same thing.... While flushing, i checked the flow of the water i put in the radiator, and it seemed to hardly be moving anywhere at all... should it be moving more? Since the thermostat and cap didn't help anything, should i assume its the water pump? or just the radiator itself? Is there another possible problem? What do you think i should troubleshoot next? When i flushed and emptied the radiator, the coolant didn't seem to be too dirty, although in the bottom of the overflow reservoir it was filled with nasty black/brown goo, that i cleaned out, and that didn't used to be there at all... Also, my engine temp. gauge doesn't work, so i'm not sure how much, the engine is overheating, i'm just going based off of what the radiator/coolant is doing... Any help will... well... help! Thanks everybody!
  7. I was actually just looking at those and searching to see if anybody knows if they are good, or will work... did they end up working for you?
  8. Hahaha, holy crap! i like how she talked about other cars that she rarely changed the oil in... shes a car murderer! I'm pretty much speechless, i've had my pathy for a little over a year, and have changed the oil 3 or 4 times, and i dont have to drive far for anything! also... kinda cuz i don't record the miles that its at, or when i do it but honestly.... 15000 miles?!?!.. thats insane!
  9. I definitely stick with the pathy... especially considering work is less than a mile up the street, and school is just a little bit farther! My friends all live in about the same area too... luck?... actually.. more like coincidence.
  10. Haha, had a similar experience with my buddies jeep. last fall, the last weekend before wheelin was pretty much done for the season... We went up to empire CO. One side of the mountain had a couple snow drifts, but was mostly dirt, and some mud. First, my buddies lifted jeep gets stuck in one of the snow drifts, on the cb i hear, "hey dude, don't come in, i'm stuck, pull me out" i say... "whatever dude!" so i go and get stuck too... luckily, not very bad, and the pathy got out of the snow that the poor little jeep couldnt. I pulled him out, and we kept going down the trail Eventually we hit the top of the mountain, ending the dryness we got to enjoy. Aaron (the jeep owner) Was driving down the other side of the mountain, and i could see some obvious signs of deep snow, i heard him on the CB yelling, "theres alotta snow.. i'm gonna go for it! OH SH***" Well... he got stuck.. BAD. i didn't head down the hill in my car, cuz i didnt want to get stuck either (i was running some basically bald mud terrains), especially considering it was a really steep and slick ride up. After three hours of some traction laying with rocks, sticks, and his floor mats, we got him out. a couple days before, we hit harbor freight, and got a bunch of pairs of leather gloves for a dollar a pair, a shovel, and we got some tow ropes. I also got a used offbrand high lift on craigslist for 25 bucks which really saved aarons jeep. Surprisingly we had just about everything we needed... one of the first times i've been prepared for... well, just about anything! To get outta the deep snow, We did the, hi lift the rear, pull the tow rope from the front method... along with alot of digging! At first, we got about three inches a thrust... but eventually we got out! it was a pretty good experience and actually quite a bit of fun! the best part is still having the bragging rights of pulling his lifted jeep out with my stock pathy, after going through the same snow! it was a good time for sure though!
  11. alright!! i'm needin all the help and advice i can get with this, i dont know what i'm doing!!! hahah. So go with the JGC Coils? check... and Rough Country UCA's... do you possibly have a link for where they are cheapest? and possibly the heckethorn shocks? cuz i love my friends soft, flowy like ride in his jeep, compared to my harder ride in the pathy. Thanks!!!
  12. Yeah, thats what i thought, i was just kinda wantin to clarify... i found a Rancho 5000 kit, with the new UCA's, 30% higher spring rate torsion bars, shocks, and coil springs for a little under 700 bucks. http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/shop/i...babee63ed4560ae
  13. Yeah, thats really nice though! it looks good. Did you stick with the stock shocks with that JGC lift? and the stock A-arms/upper control arms? i've been wanting to do the JGC lift for a while... but have been questionable about that...
  14. That sure is a pretty pathy! and yeah, the placement is pretty much the exact same as mine, it looks good! I love it!! how much was the Thule basket when you got it?? and one more thing... What kinda lift are you sportin?
  15. Idk... i find my hi lift to come in extremely handy. I've never had to use it on the pathy, so i guess i can't really say anything about that, but it got my friends Jeep out of a tough place last fall, when we were stuck in some tough snow.... Leather gloves, a couple fold up shovels, and a small regular shovel definitely comes in handy. Deep snow + no winch + screw you dude, i'm not getting stuck too = use the hi-lift!
  16. Well... I went through a phase for about two months, where whenever i had a chance, i would oogle safari racks on the internet... one day, i typed safari rack into google images, and a new one popped up! it was the one i got, its a Coleman, and i clicked on it... it was listed for 75 bucks including shipping on costcos website! so me and my brother jumped on that. He got one for his jeep, and i picked one up for my pathy. About a week after we received ours, they lowered the price to 60 including shipping (still), so i emailed em, and they gave me 40 bucks right to my debit card! it was pretty sweet. About another week passed, and i looked for it again at the costco website, and it had disappeared! its gone! I saw it on another site, marked with a different company name (rather than coleman) but it was obviously the same basket. It was like, 105 there, not including shipping? I just looked through all of my safari rack bookmarks, and there was nothin... I dont know how costco could have afforded to send these out for 60 bucks a piece with the free shipping, its insane! So long story short... yeah, costco. they shipped it to me for 60 bucks... but unfortunately, they only had em for i think, less than a month, so they aren't there any more It was a sweet deal too! comes with mounts for a rack and everything! and its really good looking powdercoated steel!
  17. Thanks a bunch!!! i'm pretty proud of it!! Give me a limitless budget, and i'd love to!
  18. Alright, thanks! do you have any pictures on here of your rack? i wanna check it out!
  19. Thanks! yeah i got the basket on costcos website for the 75, and then they lowered the price.... i emailed em and they sent me the difference, so it was like 60 including shipping! For the Hi-Lift, i went to sportsmans and bought the loc rack for 20 bucks, and some steel from ACE. I bolted the loc rack to a piece of steel, and then bolted the steel piece to the back of my rack, for the other side, i just took a piece of steel, and put a nut on either side to make it tight, and stationary, so that it wouldn't go anywhere, if you want, i'll post some better pictures of the hi lift mount. For the Light bar, i just took another piece of steel, measured it across, and put the holes accordingly for the daylighters. I painted all of the steel with a couple coats of black semi gloss rustoleum...and it all looks pretty good i think! the hi lift doesn't move anywhere, its sturdy as the car itself.
  20. So for the past month and a half or so, i've been working on this safari rack. Working about 15-20 hours a week, as well as full time school, all my money has been going into this beast I got the light bar put on, painted, me and my other friend, put on, and built a hi lift mount, and the final step, was to get it on the pathy! The problem of not having a factory roof rack kinda scared me, but after searching the internet, i came across some false Jeep Cherokee rain gutters, made by Thule for fifty bucks. The same site, had off brand thule bars, and arms for another fifty. So i spent the final 100 dollars and a weekend, of before work, and after work in the cold and dark, of mounting the roof rack. Took out the headliner, and started drilling holes in my roof The rubber grommet-ish things that came with the mounts relieved me a bit, and i believe they'll hold up just fine without leaking. The lights aren't wired yet, but i've got a KC wiring harness in the garage for my four lights, that i'll be installing this weekend. Its on now, and i think it looks pretty good, but it seems a little high... any ideas on lowering it? or do you think i should leave it how it is? Me and my buddy are going to be building an axe and shovel mount for it, and i've got some back up light plans for the rear... but until then... are people going to be laughing at my pathy because of the height? i'm a bit worried. Its rock solid, and keeps the hilift outta the car, as well as being able to take off my thrashed and bent rear tire swing bar, and of course serving the cosmetic purposes that it does so well What do you guys think? here are the photobucketed pics!
  21. Yeah, i PMd him about two weeks ago and got nothing... and i've been looking at the last visits.... within a day or two after i ordered the stickers the money was taken from my paypal account... so that kinda sucks, its far enough away now that i guess, i dont miss it... but i'd like to get the stickers, and not be ripped off... I emailed his site at a couple different emails and nothin still... so... i'll see if i can get in touch with him some other way i guess.... If anybody finds anything out... PM me?... awesome... thanks all!!
  22. Hey man, i ordered some stickers on the 7th of february, and was just wondering if they will be sent out soon? I've emailed but haven't recieved a resonse. Thanks!
