1. Looks nice! Funny, the inly thing I’ve clay bared so far is the roof (I’ve got a full length rack about to go up).
2. Welcome Steve! You’ll find this a great Pathfinder resource but you should also consider following PCoA as it will have Australian specific stuff in it that might be useful.
3. Thanks for the input Citron. I’ve experienced the end result but never really knew the why. I have not really done the WABDR (bits & pieces only) though I have the Butler map. I would highly recommend checking out the You Tube videos. Josh Duncan has a pretty good one.
4. Thanks everybody.@Astrorami just did all of this & lives near DDM Tuning to boot. He graciously called me & we chatted for over an hour with several interesting pearls of wisdom, including some product specific info. Once I get around to installing everything I’ll try to get back & post a summary of our experience.
5. Yep, I ordered mine on a Friday afternoon & they were on my porch Monday morning. We could use some recon of the East/NE of the Olympics. Lake Cushman is one of the few areas of WA that’s still on my ToDo list. There’s some good stuff on the N side of the Olympics but I’ve had trouble finding good camping on the NE/E sides. S of the Olympics is pretty flat & boggy.@Citron lived SSE of the Olympics & might have a few pearls of wisdom. Here are some if my notes re potential routes (some of it’s unverified so I’d appreciate hearing what you learn): FSR 23 from Shelton to Quinalt through the mountains. The area E of Quinalt is kind of interesting & has camping - plus camping along the lake just W of Lake Quinalt Lodge Deer Park campground & Obstruction Point Road. Lake Cushman. Just north of the lake is the Washington/Jefferson Pass region. Lots of service roads to explore through the hills. Can cut back to Brown Creek to camp, or find dispersed camping in the hills. No "wheeling", but access to remote routes and beautiful scenery. Couple good looking spots to camp which may have views of Lake Cushman. NF 400 all the way up near the end has a pull out that is over 2600’ with a view. 23 up by brown creek, continue to 2348 & 2365 where there is another vista like pull out.
6. They are on the corners kind of below the radiator-the tie downs. Someone will crosscheck me but I believe it was technically only the driver’s side that’s rated though people have used both. As you will note, these are a somewhat low & unusual location for them-all part of the reason a bumper that is securely fastened to the unibody would be beneficial. (As an FYI, don’t bridle between them straight under the radiator, at least one person has seen the support crush a little from doing that.)
7. I expect TowndawgR50 & I will both have them if not other members of the PNW crew as well.
8. Welcome! Where are you located, PNW?
9. I believe you are only the 2nd person to do the LR 9446s (@neilca) being the other. I believe he got 2.5-3” of lift. Please post your mid fender & mid hub height as well as your tire size so that we can add to our data base. I’m particularly interested in the 9446 because it has the best chance of working as a 2” lift rear end alternative which alot of new owners are seeking.
10. Welcome! Nice looking truck & it looks like you’ve already made quite a bit of progress. We’ve got a nice little hub of NPORA here in the PNW. We’ll try to tag you on future regional events. I’m sure I can speak for all of us in saying we look forward to meeting you. What part of the Kitsap are you at, Oak Harbor?
11. An excellent pairing! I personally know of each of your commitment to quality & dependability. I think everyone will benefit from what is essentially a scaling up of your own individual, well thought out, projects. I look forward to seeing what this partnership will produce.
12. Just as an FYI: OME Springs do not come in Heavy Duty for the rear (only the front). AC Springs are very stiff but actual spring rate unknown. LR Springs for the rear come in 2 spring rates but I don’t think we have anyone who only got 2-2.5” out of them, most have experienced 3-4”. Bumper Options (4): *ARB Sahara *@hawairish /@TownDawgR50-2 well respected, experienced & detail oriented NPORA members who have been custom fabbing for friends but are about to announce a collaboration to provide much needed R50 specific items. See their threads-this is who I’m waiting on. *Coastal Offroad *Dustin Perreault *WAM (former Tactical Armor Group aka TAG aka Kennesaw Mountain Accessories aka KMA aka Blue Lake Offroad) Previous iterations of this company have a terrible rep but supposedly it’s designs were bought out & it’s under new management. It would be very interesting to have someone buy one & report back if all the quality control problems are fixed.
13. See my RainGoat IG though it’s cluttered with a tablet & GPS unit.
14. Oh wives - they know just what to say to sap the fun out of it! Not that we don’t do the same. For instance, I like Douglas firs for a Christmas Tree, they’re the real trees around here in the NW. When my wife entertained a Noble, I looked at the “needles” and I told her that I could compromise and we could get her Christmas Bush if she wanted. A couple more years of that & I don’t hear about Nobles at all anymore.
15. IIRC MO cops are pretty thick & picky. Keep that in mind when thinking about smoking the tailights & license. I agree it looks good but it might garner more attention than you’d like.
16. Look at what@Pathy_02 has done. He has one of the most effective yet simple builds out there. Really a great combination.
17. Looks nice. As a former KCitian I know you can find some mud down in Ozarks straddling S MO/N AK. OK has the Ouchitas for a trip someday. A truly epic trip is a Christmas/New Years trip down to Big Bend. It’s great that time of year & you can be off pavement fir >100mi & several days if you dwaddle. Make sure your power valves are done. I take it that’s an LE with the AWD option? Funny to see the different center stack & console in those ‘04s-otherwise look just like the ‘02 LEs.
18. Last winter he was going to use my truck as his template. Didn’t happen as my engine suffered a power valve failure. His name is Brandon & he was very pleasant when we were trying to work things out. He makes pretty hardy looking 4Runner bumpers. I like the aesthetics of these but would like to see how it mounts to the unibody. I think this gives us 4 options now but I’m waiting on hawairish @ TownDawgR50’s collaboration which should be coming out soon. 19. When changing out brake lights, have people used white LEDs or red LEDs? What effect did the two have? Since the lenses on the rear lights & the 3rd brake light are all red I was wondering if red LEDs just produce darker red brake lights? Is the brightness of the LED offset by the dimness of a red LED behind a red lens? Consequently, should one go with a white (6000K) LED that will be brighter but tinted red by the lens? Or will this produce a red that is faded to pink by the brightness of the white? I'm looking at these for the rear lights & any number of options for the 198 bulbs in the 3rd Brake Light (there are 9 bulbs there). https://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/1156-6xCree DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting I have a problem...Every time DDM comes out with a new reverse light LED I have to get it. It started with the 5W cree which is a great LED but every time they come out with a brighter one I want need it. www.ddmtuning.com
20. I'm planning on putting switchbacks in the front turning signal and a standard LED turn signal in the rear (as well as LEDs in the normal brake lights & 3rd brake lights). I have a couple questions: Switchbacks: I have tried plug & play without resistors or LED relay in my wife's '09 MDX & they only hyperflashed amber but produced no white at all. Do switchbacks require some additional wiring to produce the white light when the turning signal is not activated? I am planning on using a CF13 LED Flasher Relay but there is a resistor option as well. It seems simpler to just change the relay & avoid heat issues & mounting with a resistor. Another quick question, are there 2 relays (one for the front & one for the rear) and where they are located (I'm at work right now). 21. If you are going to be pulling something particularly heavy, consider the OEM hitch as it has longer bars bolting in multiple places on the truck. Probably not important with a light load but nice for recovery purposes. The OEM has a nice step on it as well. Definitely see if f you can score it from a junkyard@gspeed151 only paid ~$50 for one. Mine has ridden 16!years without problem. I had it off for the first time this year & went ahead & did a quick spray paint job on it. Looks as good as new-you should be able to touch up a JY unit the same way.
22. On another thread poachr & SlartiBartFast both said thanks for the invite but they can’t make it-frankly, they’re pretty remote from Seattle so I don’t blame them. Pathy_02 is en route & ferrariowner123 hopes to make part of eitger Sat or Sun.
