1. Is that a mesh panel with load bars on the front & back. Terrific job! (Of course you need an SE rack)
2. On a related topicRedPath88 what is a good way for a general member to flag an Admin? For example, to suggest putting a pin in a topic or cutting something out into its own thread? Thanks!
3. I mounted my hatch light to the inside of the hatch hinge, I’ll post a photo when I’m home. It has it’s own toggle. It’s incandescent & I was planning on switching it out for LED but it’s worked fine for 14 years.
4. Are you kidding. We are reasonably likely to see autonomous cars that look like living rooms inside in our lifetime. I’m not against it. The AIs will likely be better drivers than most people. Just as long as they leave room for those of us who have an interest. We’re already niche anyway!
5. Maybe a moderator should lift all this rack stuff to its own thread & stop hijacking@hawairish &@TowndawgR50 thread. Unless, of course, they want to offer spacers once we’ve figured it out?
6. It works just fine with conduit clamps into the slides in the rails (they’re easy to harvest at the junkyard-or just use washers-that’s what I did with my Yakima basketcase which was mounted to the rails between my load bars for 14 years. Also, I might be able to give you some once I’m sure how many I need). You’re local toPathy_02. You should look at his. I’m sure he’d be happy to meet with you. Nice guy. He had the ability to cerakote the clamps so it looks positively great. My only complaint is that it sits less than a centimeter from the rail. The top bar on the rack is 1.5” which is too thick for cam strap hooks (which I love & have used for decades-I’ve done week long off-road overlanding trips in AZ with two 14’ kayaks strapped to my OEM load bars with cam straps with no problems). Anyway, the 1” lower bar on the rack is too close to the rail to accept a hook. There are work arounds (like a soft loop & moto straps) butTowndawgR50 & I are working on 1cm squat square towers to give a little lift & I’d like them to vary in height to compensate for the rocker. Definitely plan on mounting an awning, like you’ve done, at some point.
7. Now, Cargo area window MOLLE racks, there’s something we don’t have. I mocked one up from my 5th Gen T4R one &@TowndawgR50 & I did a little dissection at the junkyard to identify mounting points
8. I live in the T4R world as well. Take a look at what they want for some of those flat racks-check out Gobi & FrontRunner for example. Once I get my swingate on, I was going to see if I couldn’t get a T4R hatch ladder to attach to our truck. Almost had the chance to check fitment recently.
9. Greater minds than mine are thinking about that. I know it’s a consideration@hawairish &@TowndawgR50 have been taking into account in their bumper & bracket designs.
10. Look atPathy_02 Rola V-Tech with Extension. I believe Delta50 has it on one of his Pathys too. I am also mounting one. 11. You can just swap out your cigarette lighter or drill a hole in any plastic surface with enough space behind it. Not that I would put the volt meter there but I’m planning on mounting 2 USB outlets in the vertical back of my center console above the cup holders for my kids.
12. Search the threads, there are currently 4 options out there though some aren’t quite online yet (hawairish &TowndawgR69) & others haven’t been reviewed by regular owners yet (WAM & Coastal Offroad).
13. Amazon has a ton of U-Plug replacements with Volt & even Amp meters. https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-4326593002-Voltmeter-Universal-Motorcycle/dp/B01M4OKBSB/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1543752529&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=usb+volt+meter&dpPl=1&dpID=41FU38PzQWL&ref=plSrch
14. You could turn it into a side camping floodlight
15. At least by ‘02 there was a U-Plug in the center console. I’ve pulled that whole center console a couple times-pretty easy. I plan on wiring some U plugs off the back, above the cupholder, for my kids. I also want to hardwire some some hidden USB plugs inside the lower center stack. I was thinking about trying & running a fresh line with its own fuse for those. There are some really nice U-Plug alternatives on Amazon-lit plugs in different colors, dual 2.4v USB outlets, audio line ins, amp & volt meters.
16. I think it’s always a conundrum. HAM is probably best but very involved. GMRS is great due to the family license & handhelds but overall pretty low adoption rate which causes very low adoption rate CB is terrible but cheap & ubiquitous
17. Also replace the rear crossover coolant pipe gaskets & thermostat while the engine is out.
18. I hear you. I used a project ladder but my neighbor & my wife forbade me climbing around on the roof of the house with the blower. Too many stories of bad falls.
19. Do you have a specific product name or Amazon link for it?
20. Wow, that’s alot of functions. I like that it can go all amber or all white. The wireless controller is a handy way of skipping the wiring through the firewall. The amber would be nice for pulling into occupied camping areas without disturbing everybody. It also has very little hood glare from the looks of it. Can you link it again?
21. +1 on that. We had a stock Path at Tahuya & it was good for most of what we did & able to bypass or skip what he wanted. We’re specifically about inclusion & leaving the machismo behind. Alot of WA & OR are pretty tame. That said, I’ve done most of the CO passes except Black Bear on a suspension that was stock except for $100 AirLifts in the rear. The beauty is all your spotters will have a very good idea of exactly what your rig can & cannot do. (Except maybe@TowndawgR50 because his is such a beast - JK - well, except for the beast part)
22. They are more of a loop/tie down. I believe all R50s were made in Japan so it had to have them but some are removable. I know many of us have taken the rears off. I think the fronts are removable as well. Maybe somebody did that? Mine are looking a little ugly but here’s what they look like. ?
23. +1 on the Ozarks. I’m a native Kansas Citian & that area was the best regional outdoors unless you drove a day to CO. The Ozarks are Karst topography which is unique to there & a place in China. That’s what makes it go up & down at such steep grades. Down by Johnson Shut Ins is where I rekindled my love of the outdoors in my 20s. Also hit the Ouchitas in OK & Big Bend has n Tx (very far away)
