I got you're mass e-mail and thanks for kicking my butt in gear 88. A little catch up.....I still got the 98 Chilkoot but the other half drives it more than me! Our little guy is almost 11 mos old now and a handful to say the least. I still get out wheeling but it's with my 83 Toyota complete with a bench seat so we can wheel as a family. The Pathy has been out wheeling too a few times but I tend to take it a little easier on it....she doesn't want it broken I'll try and be around the forum a bit more because if I'm gone for too long it takes forever to catch up on all the posts. This is still the best site out there for us Pathy fans -bounce-

I've never had the occasion to notice.....my Pathy's never been broke down on the side of the road, thus no need for the hazzards....but I'm gonna check mine now

If for some reason you DO end up "rounding" the inside of the plug, you may have to weld a nut on the plug and crank on that bugger.......hard! Worked for me

Here's a BIG tip on getting that boot back in, *USE A LITTLE WD40 (lubricant) or EQUIVALENT ON THE BOOT, IT WILL ALMOST JUMP BACK IN TO THE HOLE WITH LITTLE TO NO EFFORT* This can be used with any boot or grommet.

Well ....... after crawling around underneath and shaking suspension parts, jumping up and down on the step bars, shaking the rear tire in and out, and even riding in the back seat and listening to the seat while the gf drove, I couldn't find the rattle unless the Pathy was moving (I even opened the rear door and drove for a bit and took everything that was in the storage places out). I couldn't narrow it down to anything but the upper link bushing. I took it to my local dealer and all confident said "check the upper links, I've got a rattle in the rear ". It wasn't too long before they told me they found a loose exhaust bracket hitting the trailer hitch.......... doh, just a little embarrassing, how could I miss THAT???? Oh well, a little cheaper than shocks.

My 98 has been good to me and I wheel with a bunch of Jeepers. Big Johnson has any common problems nailed down. There is the fact that mods are hard to come by and expensive if you do find them...but then again, there isn't much modifying needed on a Pathy

I did some playing with the Maintenance schedule and they say a 1998 has a microfilter to replace. Is this true? I can't seem to find anything in the Owner's Manual.

1998-154,000 kms Body/accessary damage-read my sig clunk/rattle rear passenger side, don't know what it is yet partially broken cruise master switch windshield- pretty much a road map one belt squeaking both front seatbelts retracting really slow. suspension noises when it's cold-I think it gets this one from me window starting to go down slower and timing belt due in 6000 kms

They were on mine ever since the original brushed aluminum "pool noodle" damaged my rocker pssd

If your getting your struts done, I'ld suggest checking with a Nissan dealer. I got my struts done here in Canada for $650 at a Nissan dealer and they are lifetime free replacement parts and labor and the service guy said there was no need for an alignment with Genuine Nissan Struts Don't get that but hey whatever. I DID notice a difference in ride/handling. I'm just happy that I won't have to pay for struts again.
