What years had these "microfilters"? Never heard of them.

Everyone has their own offroading story, often it's the first that ranks right up their among the best (we've all got stuck just testing how far we could go ). I think it would be cool to hear some of our members stories. I got started after hunting many years with my Dad in a 2WD and forever having to do some shoveling in what I thought "you know, if we just had that extra 2 wheels for traction, we'ld be outta here!" My first 4X4 was a 86 Nissan Pickup ST, and was it ever awesome, I can't count the number of times I was able to throw her(I think the light blue color helped me genderize her) in 4L, 1st gear,let the clutch out, get out, shovel or push her a bit, and she'ld drive herself out of trouble. I've had 3 other 4X4's since and none have compared to the Nissan's. For years I've wanted to buy a Pathfinder and I've never regretted buying Sam(his name) since. My most memorable Sam story is: I had just got Sam and was out at a friends farm and it had been raining quite a bit so I decided to go and "check the terrain out", I had gone down this little sandy trail a ways (a couple of miles) and needed to adjust some stuff that was floating around in the back. I got out and unlocked the power locks (so I thought) closed the door and went to the back, tried to open the hatch and it was locked. At this point I started thinking, "did I lock the doors, or open them? LOCKED! There I stood 2 miles from anywhere, in the pooring rain, with Sam running! Time to run...all the way back and explain that I never got stuck, but locked myself out of a running Pathfinder. Since then, I still do the old "double check" and see if my locks are actually unlocked.

Thanks for the info ga. For $15, I'm gonna install it just for looks! I have a magnetic that I've tried and I don't have a rear tire carrier and my rear spoiler will get in the way of a trunk mount so the next step will be a door jam mount like 95pathdn in this months "truck of the month".

I own that exact Pathfinder. Great choice I'm thinking the best way to wire it up is to try and find another for reference. I can e-mail you some photos of mine if you need. Try and get as far as you can with the "Haynes". The order shouldn't be important electrically if your battery is the last thing you connect. Should be plug and play as far as the harness goes, just match up the connectors. I'm not sure how "apart" it is, but if you have any more ?? my e-mail is listed in my profile. Good luck.

Do you have keyless entry? From the looks of my wiring diagrams, there's a circuit breaker-1, thats common to both windows and locks. **You might have 2 problems.** If you have keyless, check your locks, if they work on keyless the problem should be in the switch. If not, there's a "Smart Entrance Control Unit" that senses whether doors are unlocked or not. Your problem could be one of the sensors(probably drivers door). As for windows, check the "Power Window Relay" Try and get a "Haynes Manual" on this, their wiring diagrams have been quite valuable for this sort of thing.Good luck, let us know how it goes.

What year of Pathfinder?

Has anyone checked with LP Performance on their new 6" for R50's that's suppose to be released tomorrow? Should be interesting. I wonder what the biggest tires you can put on will be? Who wants to be the first?

Yeah, I hadn't either. I did some looking around on the net though and the reviews said "not bad". I figure it's cheap enough and most of the time I'm not too far from others. There's a few different makes and I'm not even sure what kind this one I have on order is. Google "through glass cb antenna" and have a look.

I'm looking at an antenna that's a Thru-Glass. It's only $15. Wondering if anyone has tried these? Are they any good? :help:

Thanks for the info That's about what I figured. I think I'll probably go to a 265/75/R15 just so I don't have to change rims. I didn't realize that the newer Pathys came with 16" rims.

Just another question around this: I currently got a 265/70/R15" You guys are running 16" rims Would it be better(taller) for me to go to a 16" with 265 or 15" with 31's Tire guy told me that he could do a 31"X10.5X15 as all the forums are saying as well. I want to put a little more "space" between me and the ground without a lift, yet... So here's my question: Won't I get higher off the ground with a 265/70/R16" than a 31X10.5X15" ?

Mech needs $$$, go with the owners manual. If you replace it at the cards recommendation, mech makes almost twice the $$$ in labor. Jes' my $.02 :contract:

Thanks Steve, That makes perfect sense. There's only one problem, my gas milage is pretty bad right now. I think I'll do what DJ Dank did and try a spark plug replacement first. 96 and up forum. Some of you should read it, the guys a genius with Nissan supplied tools(for changing tires, mind you, but good for that #6 plug)

Stat, Does it increase with RPM's while driving? Mike, What makes you think throw out bearings? Steve, If the timing was out, wouldn't I have this sound all the time on increased RPM? Thanks for the input guys, I'm still not sure.

Update: I went on a 12 hour road trip this wknd and it showed up a couple of times. The noise is at the top of the RPM's (around 4000) and it's only when under load, when the clutch is in it disappears. It doesn't seem to matter if the engine is warm or not cuz it didn't show up till about an hour into the trip. Thanks for the info 88 but I don't think it's the shroud cuz of the "disappearing with the clutch in" thing. It'll keep my guessing.......I guess. :confused:

I had a noise that came from the engine sometimes. It increased with RPM and sounded like there was something loose, almost like the rad fan was hitting light metal. I had my brother listen and he said detination, maybe bad gas. I upped the octane(87 to 89) and it seemed to go away. I still don't know if I fixed it or not. Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Does your Pathy have a security system? My 98 has the fog lights on the signal light arm. It took me awhile to find the switch but once I found it, i've never turned them off! If those 2 spaces are the ones I'm thinking of, their for the security system light and cruise control switch. One thing I found recently is the switch bay under the stereo fits a Boss Amp bass control perfecly, looks like factory and you don't have to put screw holes anywhere....just a proud moment I had recently while installing some extra sound. -bounce- -bounce-
