  1. Plug 6 successfully changed! To be honest, if not for the tightness of the space, it was almost the easiest of the 6 plugs. Also, my misfire is far more steady, and is no longer random, so I believe that I can go cylinder by cylinder to determine what the problem is, so I'm pretty sure I can figure that one out of my own. Alas, not all is well in the world of Kevin the Pathfinder. I've sprung a vac leak (go figure), but it seems like an easy fix - that is, assuming you guys know what it is based on my symptoms. It only makes the leaking sound under load, but I can audibly hear it cut out and stop leaking as soon as I take my foot off of the gas pedal, regardless of speed. I'm thinking its the IACV, butttttttt I'm not an expert. Thoughts?
  2. Finished reinstalling the upper plenum, and plugs 1-5.. 6 is another story (when isn't it?) but I refuse to even try to start my truck before replacing that sucker... to the forum archives!!!!
  3. It was hung up on the two coolant lines in the back that splice off of the main steel heater line, right up against the firewall - its the two that get in your way when you try to fiddle with plug #6... speaking of.... I refuse to leave it in there, so it looks like its time to McGyver some 3/8s extensions!
  4. UPDATE #2: My injector is finally (after 2 years) fully seated. Somehow, by an act of God, at some point the injector cap sheared in half (which makes me wonder what the heck could have caused that to happen), and the injector was unseated all the way past the first seal. I replaced that seal, hammered the injector in space, and screwed the junkyard new cap in place. Fingers crossed that this fixes my god awful stumble.
  5. UPDATE: decided to just cut them anyways. I plan to drive the tractor to the store tomorrow (hahahaha) to get a new plenum gasket and a 12" length of vacuum hose. Thanks Nissan for your excellent engineering - wish I could have cut your engineers instead of cutting my vacuum hoses
  6. *% these vacuum hose clips in the back.. im socked in because of a blizzard, so i cant just cut them and replace them, because my truck is the only vehicle here at the moment (aside from the tractor) that could make it to the store. Mashed my thumb with a mallet too, so that doesnt help.
  7. Having trouble getting the upper intake off, or at least lifted up high enough. Any suggestions? It seems like its getting stuck on something in the back..
  8. Well, Im back. FINALLY replacing my spark plugs as was suggested oh so long ago, in order to try to get rid of that stupid misfire. not that it matters anymore, I realize that my truck is pretty hopeless at this point. Took it in for an alignment, knowing what the answer would be, and the guy just laughed and gave me my keys back without even putting it up on the lift. Maybe someday Ill have the money to fix ya buddy....
  9. Or you could have done what my PO did and just pulled the bulb out..
  10. Parallel parked it (shiver) and was so skill\ed that both sidewalls touched pavement AND i couldnt fit my hand between plates in the front... Had to wait to leave though because I couldnt get out haha
  11. Everrryyything in the front end is squeaking nooooo
  12. Nice stov. Its about time your rig got into the big leagues. Now for me to get off my ass and join you..
  13. Got meself a replacement injector cap (snagged the injector while I was at it). Got lucky to be honest because I showed up with just two screwdrivers, one phillips one flat, thinking that I would be in and out. Broke the phillips screwdriver trying to wedge a hood open (to be fair, it was a very big phillips, which is why I used it as a mini crow-bar in the past) The issue with this was that my flathead screwdriver was a very wide flathead. Which meant that it wouldn't fit any of the screws holding the caps in place.. But lo and behold, the very last truck I checked had ONE cap held down by flathead screws!
  14. I mean, I got mine out on the road and make lots of high rpm shifts but that's only because I'm changing my oil soon and was extremely bored
  15. Hauled a scooter in the back of it yesterday. Trying to get the scooter to run; that is, continue running. Starts and lasts about 10 seconds before dying.. pretty sure that the carb is gunked up and know that the engine is flooding because the old plug was as black as my exhaust pipe... Speaking of, still need to get around to checking the tooth count of my timing belt. Have a funny feeling that it slipping a tooth may be part of my rough idle problem..
  16. Knowing your speed by RPM is always an important thing to know.. especially in my case since my speedo needle gets stuck at 45 mph
  17. Used it as a step-stool to fit my couch over the balcony of my college house. Also strapped 4 mattresses, and a couch on top of that, to it and drove realll slow. Made it to my destination with no casualties
  18. Got sidetracked by moving back in to college.. and now that classes have started, things are going to go even slower than before. I looked at the FSM, but I really couldn't tell what all needs to be removed/where the bolts are that hold the intake in place.. any hints?
  19. Just did a little internet search of the junkyards in my area, and in WD21s alone there are 32 trucks! Include the D21s, and that number jumps to 38. Include the R50s, and that number soars above 100. All that, within 25 miles of me... Colorado is Pathfinder poppin
  20. Need to pull the upper plenum (or at least lift it up) in order to get to the injector.. not enough clearance to loosen and remove the rear screw.. probably going to just whack it back into the sleeve with a mallet and see if that changes anything.. Also, I'm cutting and replacing the exhaust, cat back, with a 2.25 straight pipe.. tired of the whistling noise the muffler makes
  21. banged at it a bit, finished painting my headliner and was disappointed with the results, will try again tomorrow. Also took exhaust measurements for a straight pipe. Muffler is toast anyways (in and outs are separated from the backing plates), and I really don't care about drone, as I grew up riding shotgun in a 72 Cutlass with cherry bomb headers and a glasspak.
  22. Welcome to the club man! Hit me up if you ever need help, I'm more than happy to assist if you're in the area!
  23. I'll try messing with the injector cap here in a bit, need to do some packing first. I'll also try swapping the CTS in the truck for a clean looking one that I found at a JY.. doesn't hurt to try. MAF was cleaned a week ago, and not even a smudge came off of it
  24. Solid job there bubs... Used FSM diagnostic procedures to figure out why he is still running like Satan's butthole.. details here http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/39304-running-rich-and-random-misfire/page-2?do=findComment&comment=760714
