Yeah, you should be able to find the 40 series through most local exhaust shops as well as online, ebay, etc. Its pretty much the standart Flowmaster out there. Mine was $100 installed (no new pipes) with a new tip at a local muffler place.

But unfortunately, here in the states we get the shoddy quality trucks, and then a good number of them end up being driven by morons who buy into that "trail rated" crap and think that they are invincible. So many times I've seen a Jeep flying down the snow covered road on the way up skiing, flashing their lights and passing like an idiot. Then a few miles up the road they've slid off into the guard rail or even wound up on their roof in the ditch. Sure, that's the driver's fault above all else, but that was kinda the point of this "trail rated" thread. A Mercedes-built Jeep... mmmmmmm....

They are on the roof? CRAZY!!! Is that only in the 4 doors? Man im missin out! Rami Everybody with a 2-door is missing out...

Depends on your value of the dollar. Work on it and bust your knuckles, or let it be done even hundreds of miles from home for the same price, but know that there's a pub down the street full of friends with an empty stool. Cheers.

I actually like the raspy highs that the Flowmaster 40 allows. It sounds sick, especially when you wind it up while passing on the highway. But I'd say leave the cat in if you have a new one. Might as well save the planet while we live here. But as far as I know, and based on the physics involved in moving virating air from a smaller body to a larger one (I spent 8 years heavily involved in brass instruments, particularly the tuba) yes, jumping from a smaller volume to a larger volume at a certain air pressure, you should lower the pitch attained by your exhaust, along with attaining a free-er flowing airmass. Anyways, I'd say learn to live with the sound you have. Its nice and rumbly down low, has a nice roar in the middle, and makes a sick banshee scream up high. It leaves the ricers wondering what the hell is going on under your hood. And I personally like it!

Perhaps the better question would be: who makes those "AC" quick swaybar disconnects, and where is the cheaper place to get them??? sssh :X

You could have a custom made cat-back exhaust to the rear of the truck with a Flowmaster for maybe $200-250 MAX out the door (at least locally here in WA). The trick is to go to a smaller shop because the bigger ones (Midas, Meineke, etc.) will try to sell you on $400 of stuff you don't need. A decent Flowmaster muffler should retail in a shop for $60-80 (you can find them online for $40-50), plus the hour it takes for someone who knows what they're doing to set up the system and weld it. I watched a guy do my old car in maybe and hour.

What box? Stock location should either have speakers on either side in the rear or in the roof above and behind the back seats. You've got a lot of stereo junkies here. Just walk us through it slowly. What do you see? Do you have a digital camera to post pics of what you have?

I finally got around to posting some pics of mine when I started my cardomain page over the weekend. Check it out. My page

Does it have a FULL charge on the battery?

Add some waterproof electricals under the hood, maybe some mounted dive tanks behind your seats, you'd be ready for just about anything. -alcohol-

Ok, lets walk through this. Looking in from the passenger door, pull the switch straight up out of the console. There is a yellow wire in the front terminal on the passenger side of the switch. To the rear of that is a purple wire. On the driver's side front terminal is a yellow wire, and the one behind that is empty. Purple is power from the headlight circuit to the switch allowing the fogs to turn on only when the headlights are on and the switch is on. Yellow is power from the switch to the relay under the hood on the passenger side. Green is ground. I tried to post a better pic, but now I'm getting the "can't post" error too. Need to see about one of those free hosting sites.

That's pretty sick. I'd like to get something like that in red to match the rest of my suspension (springs and Tbars). Looking good.

There is no superchip that you can slip in. The only ecu mods available require you to take out the ecu and send it to a company to have the work done cause the chip is hard wired to the board. Total PITA unless you don't mind a dead truck or want to track down another ecu for an identical truck to send in.

Around here (Seattle area) I think the normal rate is about anywhere from $65-80, depends on the shop. But we're supposed to have one of the higher costs of living in the country.

Plus, if you're looking for parts, the vast majority of "upgrade" parts on a 4x4 are going to be to make it more of a 4x4. Its just the nature of the beast. You're not going to find many parts or tricks to raise a truck 1" or make it handle better but not lift it cause with the amount of work and cost involved with doing these types of mods, chances are people are not going to do it if there is little change. I'm sure nobody means to jump on another here, we're all trying to help out. What one person calls basic (simply stiffening the ride or something), another person may just call maintenance, and their version of basic for a truck may mean a lift or monster tires. Moral of the story: just spell out what you mean if you're looking for something specific, or say if there is a type of mod or upgrade you DON'T want to try. That will narrow down the confusion for all.

I had a fire in my P.O.S. Mitsu truck in high school. I was at a gas station adding oil since it burned and leaked about a quart every 500-1000 miles. But the way the filler cap is located, any drips spill right onto the exhaust. Well, when you spill a *lot*, a lot goes onto the exhaust and *poof* up it goes. Ran inside, got 32oz. of Sprite from the fountain drinks and put it out. Amazingly, the cashier didn't even try to charge me for the drink. -alcohol- So I looked everything over, hopped in, and drove away. Have a nice day!

If you need I can take some clearer pics of it up close tonight. That was taken from another of my previous posts.

I towed a 16' boat with a 140hp outboard loaded camping with gear and 4 people over 2 passes on a 500 mile round trip. Probably 3000 lbs. extra. No problem. But yes, your brakes would be the weak point, although its not bad really. Just take it easy.

Here are the Pilots I bought for $24.95. A tad smaller than the ones you found and the stock ones, but they're way brighter. They are clear, but they look blue in the pic cause I put in blue bulbs. Light Lights on
-
Does this help? The purple wire was the switched wire from the headlights, and connects to that open terminal in the pic.
-
You may want to shop around for pricing. I've heard around $1000 is a common rate, but I had mine done for $500 with parts/labor/tax. Central Avenue Automotive in Kent, WA if you're in the area.

Those gears and speeds are not out of the ordinary. Mine drives the same. So what is the problem then? I'm betting your Sheep has the 4.0L, which should have a bit more torque/grunt that helps while lugging around at low RPM's.

If American engines really were superior to Japanese products, then they would be considered the benchmark of engineering, reliability and desirability. Alas, this is not the case. Compare a similar year Blazer or Explorer and Pathfinder/4Runner/etc. Similar trucks, the Blazer and Ford with a bigger motor and probably more space. What are you looking at for reliability and resale? A slaughter by the Japanese brands as the American ones settle for making a disposable vehicle that is engineered to be "good enough" to last a few years, but that is all. Even now, American car manufacturers for the most part have to tack on thousands of dollars in incentives and rebates to even convince someone to buy one of their products.

I'm thinking he mean's its all tore apart from working on it and looks like somebody tried to steal it. I was working on my stereo on my lunch break in the parking lot at work once and a cop cruised by. He stopped and gave me a good look over, then I realized how it had to look to see a guy in a truck yanking the stereo out. Oops. -thnkboutit- Anyways, back on subject. I'm not sure, but I had one of my headlight plugs melt and short at the bulb, and the other still worked. Not sure if a short on 1 would affect the other, although you'd think it would.
