Surely the inspection they offer is to tell you that your Pathy isn't new, so you should trade it in on a new one. I've had a bunch of stealers try and take my Pathy off my hands while shopping to replace the old Camry. One guy even walked up as I pulled into a lot and said "so you're gonna trade that thing in, right? Looks like you definately need to move up." Thanks buddy, you just lost my business. -thnkboutit-

There is a point with this. Some areas, particularly CA, may be really strict about this. I know around there, they don't seem to care. I've been pulled over for other reasons with them on, and have had no problems, and I've done it on every car/truck I've had for the last 8 years or so, since high school. But who knows what's up in your local area.

I'd guess that its barely latched, and is outward force with the diamond plate in there is forcing it out and not allowing enough give for the latch to open. Have you tried giving it a nice hard push in while pulling the latch?

I haven't decided yet. Either on the front end somehow, on the roof rack, or hold on to them till I solve the lack of chrome toys for the front bumper. Either way, I'll post it (if we can EVER post pics here again).

What Mitsu alternator, what did it come from, and do you know the amperage output? Hopefully its much bigger...

This worked on my 94, you may want to check it out. Remove the switch and determine which wire is power coming from the headlight circuit, which causes the switch to be powered only when the headlights are on. Then just splice in a new power lead from the parking light circuit to replace the one from the headlights to the switch. That way it all works the same, the switch is functional, only the fogs come on with the parking lights. Very simple, only took a few minutes really. But that's on an older one, so check it all out first with your switch.

Crawl under this weekend and crank down the bolts. That's free and easy to eliminate.

Good deal. A couple quick and cheap clean-up items like that really bring back the youthful looks of the truck. I did my rack in Rustoleum satin black and its great. But I just masked it off and covered the back of the truck, then painted it there. Much quicker than removing the whole thing, just be careful and pay attention when masking.

You could easily fab up a DIY one cheap. I did one for the king cab in my old Nissan truck to hide a system. Just fashioned mounts on either side, and covered with a carpeted piece of MDF. That or get some seriously dark tint like my Pathy has.

I just ran it in KBB for the Seattle area, and in "fair" condition, needing a bit of work and such, they list it at $2600. But then Seattle has been rated the most overpriced area in America to live in (we beat out the Bay area!), so who knows for wherever you live. LOL- I just ran my 94 w/ 138K miles, and I still come to $7480 retail and $5135 private party. Good thing I bought it 2 1/2 years and 40K miles ago for $7500 retail.

Just a bit of a warning here: many shops (around here at least) either will not touch a job if you supply the parts, or they will not warrantee it. They'll insist on them supplying everything. Just an FYI so you don't get a nasty suprise.

Mine are 55 watt Hella's to go with the Pilots I already have. You can get good quality and brand lights if you're patient and check ebay. Mine closed at $12 plus $9.95 for shipping. Steep for ship, but overall, the price was right.. more than right, actually.

I've got the same tires, and before I got the new tbars and such it rubbed a bit. I just took some snips and trimmed and tapered the fender flare at the bottom in front, along with the end of the valence thing that runs under the bumper and connects to the fender. Done, no rubbing except when the suspension was compressed fully. A crank to the bars will help too. Now its lifted and trimmed, so there's tons of space.

Just to piss you off a tad, I picked up a set of Hella's brand new on Ebay the other day and just got them. I saw them retail for around $70-80, and I got them for $22 shipped. :contract: Gonna have to post picks after install.

That's great and f'd up at the same time. I was thinking about finally installing some of their stuff like ball joint spacers, even though its common knowledge that they have inferior parts. Thanks again a million times over. Sorry to say, but F!!! them! They were absolutely worthless after my purchase on the install and such of my HD Tbars, and could't really care less about me as a customer at all when I called them for a little help. So F*@k them if they are going to get all high and mighty about their P.O.S. cr@p components. Here comes the junkyard. LOL Actually last time some idiot ran a stop sign on me I took their bumper off. The Pathy's just too tough. LOL! Had a guy slam on his brakes in front of me to try and do the "forced rear-end" insurance scam wreck on me. Dude locked 'em up and splat I hit. His bumper fell off, mine just bent. Sweeeeet! Here's your ticket, a$$hole! And here's my new bumper.

Another thought. Have you tried killing power to it, then reconnecting? That may clear its memory in the case that its just having some sort of glitch. I did have that on an old stereo, however it was an aftermarket one.

A stick of dynamite? If there is an issue with it above and beyond cleaning, I doubt its going to be servicable, or at least worth the cost to have it worked on. So if nothing else, my bet would be ebay, junkyard, or a new stereo. There are double-din decks available to play both cassettes and cd's, however they're a bit spendy. You could also go the route of getting a cassette player and an external cd changer.

But it may be different for your 97.
