  1. I had the same problem. ( the seam that is under the air box) I cut out the rust and borrowed a buddy's MIG welder, and burnt in a patch and then another piece of 3mm plate on top to brace it ( first time welding and I think it should be Ok, no pics 'cause the welds are so ugly.) then sprayed in all down with bedliner and covered it up with epoxy putty on the inside of the fender well, sprayed that all down with bedliner too. I figure I'll get another 3 or so years out of it.
  2. that drivers seat has hardly any wear. nice find...what have you done with your old one?
  3. do zombies turn into skeletons after a certain amount of time? or does the flesh stay on them forever? I was never a comic book guy so I haven't the foggiest idea.
  4. As far as I know Rebleord and and I are the only ones running IronMan springs. If I were to do it again I'd go new factory springs and lift, spacers from Steve (4x4designs) all around, to maintain a great ride and a little more hight.
  5. I had this issue as well, check all the usual suspects (sway bar end links, ball joints, rotated tires and found that it was actually the right front strut that was dead, even though it was just 2 years old. ended up replacing both struts no more problem.
  6. check out the max tire vs lift thread. or my build thread. I have 31x10.5x15 tires, 1 in lift springs, 2inches of strut spacers up front and 1.25 wheel spacers all round. and yes I worry about full droop and ripping my CVs apart, haven't done it yet but I've been playing it safe until I instal some limit straps.
  7. part of that wobble could be related to struts. when were they replaced last? same goes for rear end clunk. I'd also check swaybar end links both front and back. oh and the sway bar bushings themselves.
  8. I am definitely going to follow your advice for disaster preparedness. very sound thinking.
  9. for tires I'd check into Treadwright.com I've got a set of guard dogs that I'm very happy with so far, haven't had them in the snow yet, but once I do I plan on doing a full review.
  10. were you on dry pavement? how fast were you going?
  11. after finishing all the mods I had planned on my truck, and reading what you've done to yours, I've figure what we've done to ours is how it should have come stock. 11in clearance at the front diff, steel skid plate, 31x15 tires, and maybe some better recovery points, now it's the way it should have been.
  12. sounds like you've got a cracked circuit board or wire harness. good luck bro....electric gremlins are not my strong suit.
  13. I'd start with all new fluids. Oil, trans, transfer case, both differentials, brake and coolant. I might do spark plugs as well. check the belts. at 50,000 miles that thing is still brand new. nice find. I'm jealous.
  14. thats a very expensive wish list.... I'd start with buying a Pathy first, wheel it, then make mods that fit your type of driving and terrain. there are almost no aftermarket companies that handle the R50 most of the mods will have to be done yourself. 4x4designs and Krypton fabs are about the only companies that do upgrades to the Independent Front Suspension design of the R50. everything on your list is possible....with enough money, time and know how. I'd start by going through some of the members builds and doing a little research.
  15. have you checked fuel lines and filter? Bad gas? The other day my truck was running ruff no CEL, I ran my code reader and a knock sensor code showed up, I ran it until almost empty, re-filled with premium gas and then cleared the code. no more issues. now runs like a champ.
  16. Ya lets see some pictures so we can try and figure it out.
  17. I think I had luck with a kind of cork screw method.
  18. Yes anyone can cook to pieces of metal together in some way or another, but WELDING I now truly believe is an art from.
  19. well the project when Ok. Though it is fugly. I had to reinforce the strut tower on the drivers side under the air cleaner. that seam was mostly cancer. I welded in a couple of pieces of 3mm steel. I won't post pics because of how messy they are. (it was my first time MIG welding) I'm happy with the penetration I got. this will just delay the end. It should get me 3-5 years.
  20. If I am going to weld a couple of patches on my rocker panels and fender, should I unplug the ECU or is just removing the positive connector on the battery good enough?
