  1. I think my motor mounts and transmission mounts are bad. The engine did jump a bit on the drivers side, and there is a loud sound driving down the road a bumpy dirt road. I have heard you have to disconnect the differential to get to the motor mounts, so i think I want to send it to a shop for that. But i think I can replace tranny mount. But i am having trouble finding it. It is prob somewhere pretty easy, but I have looked at some diagrams and cant seem to find it. I am not a mechanic by far, but would like to save some money, I have a 99 pathy w/ manual transmission.
  2. Hello reading your post, have the same issue with my pathy. Did you get things resolved, what was the issue?
  3. I just purchased a 1999 pathy for $5200. from dealer, 197, 000 miles. Sounds like you already have put a lot into it, and to me what you have to do is mostly mantainance, Like tires, and sparkplugs, and such. I would think that any car you buy your going to have to do most of all those things to it anyway, unless it is brand new, and even so, there are still things like that coming up sometime anyway.Since you changed your timing belt allready, I would say get your drive time from it! I am not a mechanic, but i would say keep it.
  4. That sounds like a good posibility! I will check the motor mounts.
  5. OK, so I have been enjoying driving my pathy around, seems to be driving well. However in the 2nd and 3rd gears on my mannual transmission, is a jangling type noise, not quite shure how to describe it. its not a grinding, more of a jangle. does not happen in 1st or 3rd or 5th, that i have noticed. I just bought this car and hope this isnt a sign of a rebuid. any info would be great!
  6. Will not shift into four low! I have another post about it.
  7. I was just about to post the new news I discovered, It seems it only happens upon excelaration! Seems smooth the rest of the time, and mostly in second, but a little in third, but fourth and fifth perfect! A little tough shifting into 3rd sometimes.
  8. Yep, tried so many times, I pushed the shifter all the way down, towards floor and then towards seats, but all it does is go into neutral .Then stops, and can not get it to go back any farther.
  9. So, my 4wd will not shift into four low. 4 high is fine, neutral works, 2wd fine, light goes on and off in both, but will not engage 4L. I have searched the forum for other post and not finding any. Maybe not entering right, or maybe not to common to have problems with 4wd. I have tried a number of times. Tried rolling forward, made shure i am in neutral with other shifter. Tried with car on and off, no go. I also have a post about how the car "bumps and kicks" in second gear. It is fine not to have four low now, but come winter it would be nice! Also this car is a manual trans. 1999 pathfinder.
  10. It does seem random and does not appear to have any movement in transfer case shifter. The engine is running well, no probs there. I will look underneath and see if i can see anything dragging. I know I might be contradicting here, but it is somewhat random, but also sometimes in sync with spinning it seemed?? Very strange, changes gears just fine, only happens traveling down the road. I just changed my distributor out, myself, without a timming gun or anything, could that have upset the timing, or anything to do with the issue? But the engine sound fine...just the trans...perplexing. I hope its not runing the gear teeth or something.
  11. So, I just fixed my distributor, got my PF running, everything sounds good, except when driving around in second gear, when I have my hand on the shifter, it feels like something is kicking the gear shifter... randomly. I really hope this doesn't indicate future problems with the tran! It shifts fine, stays in gear, doesn't make the noise in first gear. It has plenty of power and shifts and engages in every gear. Any ideas? I do live on a dirt road, but i don't think i would feel the bumps in the shifter like that...?
  12. HURRAY! Change distributor and fired right up no prob! Runnin it all around the mountian, feels strong! Timming seems fine, did not use a timing light, just followed u tube advice, and she is good to go! Got the dizzy at auto zone, with life time warrenty! It did look like it had a bit of whare on the "gear teeth", I hope that isnt anything to be concerned about??? Thankyou for all the good info! Happy to be finding the path again!
