  1. This has been messing with me all week. My commute goes from South Seattle to Bangor/Key Port, seems like your color Wd21 are breeding in this area!
  2. I'm sure it's been done, but right now I've got my AC pump out PC the truck. It's sure tempting to make a new bracket and put the alternator in its place!

  4. '92 XE rapist red with crank windows here! Wouldn't change them for anything. Had to borrow my father in laws 2005 Chevy 2500, wouldn't you know it, had to open the door at the dump to pay...
  5. Ran both, same size (33x10.50), both wore well and evenly. Only difference I can really point to is the KM's performed better in deep snow, KM2's were quieter.
  6. I have yet to see a truck that black soft eights don't look good on. Don't over complicate your exterior mods, truck looks great!
  7. It's actually kind of in between what silverton and precise were discussing. If you stall the engine in a climb, and rolling backwards while going from brake to gas would put you in a worse situation. You can use the bypass. Left foot on brake, right on the gas, bump the ignition and give it a little gas, off you go. However in 7 years of wheeling mine I never once needed it. Did try a few times just for novelty.
  8. He has an WD21, front locker would have no effect on the road in 2wd. Also it may be an open rear. If you are open front and rear, a traction device in either diff would be a night and day difference. The Lokka is available for the r200 front and is relatively inexpensive. Lockright for an open rear, but it has a few drawbacks on the road.
  9. Congrats on the purchase (and the new niece/nephew) the 4.0 has proven to be a reliable power plant. The guides on the timing chain have a tendency for failure leading to an rpm dependent whine (similar to a super charger). You are also right on the cusp of the radiator redesign. The transmission cooler inside of the radiator can fail allowing coolant to contaminate the ATF. Google SMOD relative to the xterra (which IOU share engine and trans with)
  10. A good way to easily swap in a twin stick tcase. I want to put a locker in the front end, it would be great to be able to pull it out of 4lo into 2lo on the really tight corners we have here.
  11. And, on the other other hand. I have no upgrades in the engine, but do run 33's. I really enjoy the low gearing out on the trails and around town. No complaints here.

  13. I don't have a manual, but nothing going wrong with your truck can affect your cruising rpm's. How is your gas mileage?
  14. I have nothing to add as I have no knowledge of the Diesel engines. I would do an Internet search of your area, maybe there is a local nissan enthusiast group, and take it to someone who is very familiar with the quirks of this engine. A second opinion is invaluable. We had a bearing go out on the output shaft of our WRX. First guy said new tranny without opening it up, guy #2, subie specialist, diagnosed it correctly with his ears. 1/4 of the price and we were rolling.
  15. Grrrr... Right during Christmas! I might finally have to jump in this, front and rear lockers would be a kick.
  16. Not necessarily, but they go out of "round" very easily. Meaning your first few miles of driving may include a flat spot from sitting over night. They are very flexible and conform to rocks well, but bias ply may as well be off road only tires as the trade off's out weigh the benefits on road.
  17. 33x10.50 or 255/85/16. For the type of expedition wheeling you do they're perfect.
  18. Not doubting you! I think the super flexy rear end setup tends to exacerbate the clicks and clunks, at least compared to a low, leaf sprung axle. It's not bad, and I love it on the trail, just probably not everyone's cup of tea.

  21. None of them will be stronger than stock. I rebuilt my stockers with upgraded boots from http://www.rockfordcv.com/rcvboot.htm and have been very pleased. Two wheeling seasons, no signs of wear.
  22. Maybe take a little air out if the rear at least.
  23. I'm not a fan of boots personally. Typically when I look under them they have collected all kinds of mud and debris. I run mine without boots and hose them off regularly. Ymmv.
