  1. HMM lets see, i think i found he Electrical section of the FSM, (Fore warning: im reading this out of my personal 1996 FSM, it might be different for 98', so double check) Page EL-241. (in case you need to get your own copy, NICO hosts some http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Pathfinder/, i would download all of the them and rename into something you can understand, i.e. EL become Electical) Its the top left corner photo, looks like it may be up. to the left hand side of the drivers side kick panel (if that made any sense, its late, sorry) EDIT 2: Its late, i was right the first time, page EL-240 shows you where the computer is... i'm going to bed now, lol So i can see it getting wet, but it looks sort of high up there. Wish i could be more helpful, but MANUAL TRANS FTW!!! But, i do hope that helps. -Kyle
  2. Well i guess i have no idea what im talking about then...
  3. Hmmm i have never seen an updated model swing away, except on foreign soil, maybe they were imports? idk, be interesting to take a look at them. -Kyle
  4. For the updated model Pathfinders, the turn signals were moved the side markers. -Kyle
  5. Check for any other vacuum leaks, when were the spark plugs changed last? how many miles are on your rig? on the VG33e's, the service intervals for spark plugs are every 30K. have you messed with the mechanical timing at recently? (ex. timing belt, adjusted the dizzy, TPS sensor) inspect your spark plug wires, those can where out after time... Thats all i got off the top of my head.. Let us know what you find. -Kyle
  6. dang, how far north are you??? but i will be definitely waiting to see what new stuff you post... Its small, i'm thinking like 2" (maybe even 1.75" or for you Canadians 4.445 cm), i know my Xterra friend ran 2.5, from the CAT's back. Sounds REALLY good, nice and throaty, but this is also the same guy who put a stupid throttle body spacer, so he has his wins and misses, lol -Kyle
  7. that intake hose was probably it. It will let more air in past the MAF thereby screwing up the air fuel mixture... -Kyle
  8. i'm smelling what your stepping in. A Sub Frame Drop does exactly that, drops the sub-frame and everything attached to it, down with. So your controls arms, diff, hubs, and even the engine (I think) gets dropped down with it. Thats the main point by dropping the sub frame is to keep the suspension geometry the same, just mounted a few inch lower than it was originally intended. -Kyle
  9. I wouldn't run anything over an inch, unless you account for the strut geometry (right word??). On the SFD's people are running, the spacer that replaces where the strut assembly actually mounts to, is offset in relation to it original mounting location on the inner fender/strut tower maybe this picture can demonstrate, this is what the SFD guys run... Not the best, but this CAD drawing describes it a little better. The top and bottom of the tube is where the strut flanges are mounted to. So if you design your spacers to replicate this concept then you should be good, but do be aware that if you just run spacers and not the full Sub Frame Drop, you are going to put a wicked angle on your front CV's and when in 4WD, increase the chances of the CV's binding and eventually failing. -Kyle
  10. 01silverpathy is running just the bumper support, but there was some with an early model, using just the metal part of the bumper, can't remember either... -Kyle
  11. Theexbrit is running something similar with his XJ front bumper, hopefully he'll chime in with what he did. -Kyle
  12. That has to be the BEST online diagram site i have ever been to, THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!! *goes to quiet part of the house and geeks out over drawings for several hours.... -Kyle
  13. Don't remember it, but glad i could help, lol -Kyle
  14. Whats warmer for you? 30 above? But i can sympathize with the janked exhaust, mine just seems to be set up to return to dust... My rear resonator fell of, and now one of my down pipe its attempting to follow suit... -Kyle
  15. Canada seems to got the swing out longer, i think there is a member on here who has a swing away that came from the factory with his updated model pathfinder, from what i can tell its a different carrier all together. For whatever reason, the US got the swing away's only in 1996, 1997 and i think 1998 was the last year it was available, but its primarily seen on 96's, at least from my experience. But to answer the OP's original question of what is all needed, there really are not any diagrams from Nissan showing what parts are different, someone with FAST can probably get the screen shot of the diagram it has (need to get my copy working!!!) All that i could find that shows much of the tire carrier is this diagram... Not much help... -Kyle
  16. ^^^^ This guy, hes your alternative. I only buy Nissan parts from him. Unless its old Z, stuff, then i'm on my own... -Kyle
  17. Check all of the air/fuel sensors. Make sure you're air filter is clean. Make sure Maf is clean. Run a obd2 scan, make sure O2's are working. They car can only go off what it can see from the sensors, chances are one of those are bad. Not the injectors. -Kyle
  18. That might be it, those KYB's have a reputation of failing... -Kyle EDIT: The mounts and bearings that is....
  19. Glad i could help!! I remember that i found another updated pathfinder (SE) at one of my local yards, took a picture of it too! As you can see, there was a little bit of water, about a foot in some places!!! didn't really have my wading gear on me, lol but ill call them up and see if they still have flooding issues, and head back, i want a hood!! -Kyle
  20. Yeah, i get guys sitting on mine all the time, bugs me but I've sat on the swing away fully open (Im 230lbs plus my 15" steele and 31" duratrac) Had NO problems, no creaks, no problems closing it. NOTHING. So i have no issue with them sitting on it. Which makes me happy to know that Nissan over engineered the snot out of the swing away, but also make its impossible to retro fit. -Kyle
  21. AW yeah, allow me to introduce you to my favorites list. http://www.xterraownersclub.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=638241 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/33332-supercharged-94-le/?hl=supercharged http://www.xterraownersclub.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=643826&page=1 http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=498532&page=4&fpart=all&vc=1 http://www.roninwheelers.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?416-Group-Buy-Alpine-Developments-3-0-3-3L-Supercharger-Kit http://www.roninwheelers.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?143-Eaton-Charger http://forums.nicoclub.com/supercharging-a-non-supercharged-xterra-t200966.html http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=498532&page=0&fpart=2&vc=1 http://www.nissanoffroad.net/messageboard/index.php?topic=4943.0 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/35004-supercharged-90-2-door/?hl=supercharger&do=findComment&comment=655139 http://pcoa.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2498&sid=e87734f128811408ab2e4964785788be&start=15 http://www.4x4parts.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=580021&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1 Its definitely been done before, to a 1996 Pathfinder, WD's, Xterra's and Frontiers as-well. Any of those links range from Xterra guys swapping them over, to WD guys on here doing the same, to the only case i'm aware of a guy, who had a dealer swap a used eaton supercharger (from an X or Frontier) and had all new OEM parts used to make it work on his 1996. The reason its not that popular is because its really expensive and you get maybe 40 more HP. According to wikipizzle; VG33E; 168 hp (125 kW) and 196 lb·ft (266 N·m) torque VG33ER; 210 hp (157 kW) for the frontier (because the Xterra SC only came in automatic form and for whatever reason or another, the SC's for the auto's and manual transmissions are different, still haven't worked that out yet ) and if my memory serves me correct, i remember reading somewhere, that someone had installed and SC on his WD and the day we tried to run over 10lbs of boost (something like that, not really sure) he snapped the crankshaft, so that means you'd have to get the crank from the VG30DETT and make all that work. I'd just try and swap a good running VQ, still alot of effort for our cars, but much more power, or even better a V8!! But at any rate. i hate to dump all of this on you, but I've seriously considered doing any number of things to my engine from superchargers, turbos, VQ swaps, to V8's. And whatever info i find i favorite and save for later, and above is everything i had under the file "Supercharger". haha Hope that helps, let us know what you decide to do, we will try to help as best as we can. -Kyle
  22. Deal man, ill even pay shipping, haha Ill keep my eye posted around my local yards for an SE grill too, those actually come up now and and again (WHICH I LOVE!!) Come to think of it, there is an SE in my Lake Stevens Yard right now! ( Just checked its an LE!, DANGIT) Ill head out next week and see if the grill is still there. But like i said, the parts outside of the grill are color coded to your car, and i don't think i have EVER seen a Glacier White SE, they were almost always two tones, with the exception of maybe some of the black ones, IDK for sure, but a sold color SE is about as rare as seeing the Crystal Blue Metallic or Burnt Copper Metallic or Pearl LE (if they EVER did a sold color SE). My point being is you're going to have to have the grille painted, as long as you are aware of that, im good. -Kyle
  23. I've got to try this, but my knock is so sporadic that i can never tell what the heck it is... Thanks for the tip... -Kyle
  24. I have an LE one in my garage that i pulled (building my stash for when i can update my 96) and i'm 99.9999% sure that they should be no different in how they mount, or fit... I know for a fact the core support is the same from 1996 to 2003 and i'm fairly sure the hood release mount and external temperature sensor mount is the same as well (haven't confirmed with parts numbers yet). The painted parts next to the grille are actually part of the grill, so from the inside edge of each headlight is the grille itself, not just whats inside the chrome. Nissan actually sells this part New (the LE one at least) and PRE-PAINTED from Nissan. I was asking Rob, i was getting like $168-ish without the $35 dollar Nissan Badge, so $220 ish you have a brand new, painted by Nissan, grille, that's the route i'd like to go unless i can score a clean LE one... Ill take your old LE one (maybe even help track down an SE one if you're nice enough, ) The one i pulled is broken and has thousands of miles of road chips and generally wont work for how OCD i am about my car. Shoot me a PM if you'd like to get rid of it... -Kyle
  25. Just check with local wrecking yards. It's a really popular engine, and a popular car, odds are in your favor for somebody having one in your area. But my vote is also to see what's knocking. You can have heads rebuilt for way less than the cost of a used engine. -Kyle
