  1. Those springs are OME HD's that are only 1.5 years old. A heck of a lot of salt used up in northern ontario.
  2. It's actually only concentrated in that area and I have one rocker to repair. But with 230K on it, we're not putting much money into it as it will soon become a dedicated bush truck like the 97.
  3. Looks like our '01 R50 has this issue. Brought it to the dealer today and they have told us they will be repairing it. Any opinions from people who have already been through this repair?
  4. Great write up. The areas mentioned have been problematic for rust on both my 97 and 01 R50's. Proper maintenance earlier on would have prevented the rust issues I now have to correct.
  5. From now until Christmas, our 1" top mount strut spacers are on sale for $110 plus shipping. That's $30 off retail! Simply mention this deal through NPORA when ordering. Merry Christmas! www.nx4industries.com
  6. Not sure why the ride would feel any different. The springs should have no more or less compression on them unless they were installed incorrectly. All the spacers do is move the strut assembly further away from the body by 1"...
  7. Just to add, (of course I represent a bias) our 01 Pathfinder has had the spacers and ome springs for over 60K km's, the truck has just over 220K km's with OEM CV's. The 01 sees light to moderate off road, but sees at least 3-4K annually of VERY harsh washboard roads which cycles the suspension at an extreme rate. Still no CV issues. Balljoints, tie rod ends, sway bar end links have all worn out, but our CV's remain.
  8. quote name='devonianwalk' timestamp='1320281526' post='595581'] I bought my Nx4's from a member here. Try googling "nx4 industries". Or visit http://www.nx4industries.com[
  9. I can tell you that on the wifes R50, We have the same issue. What also happens is that from time to time, the hard shift doens't happen into reverse, and you are left without a reverse gear. You have to play with it a few times to get it to kick into reverse. It's hell when your pulling a trailer. I'm pretty sure its just a sticky valve. Proper maintenance may rectify my problem, not sure about yours.
  10. I'd be interested in the smart entry control module if its in working condition.
  11. When I looked into Patrol springs, they had a pigtail on the top which would require cutting similar to the JEEP springs people are using now. There could hoever be suspension differences with UAE models??? I was looking at the two Aussie units imported into Canada.
  12. The upper spring perch is installed incorrectly. Note how your spring is cocked on the top coil. There are notches on both the upper and lower perch that should be aligned during re-installation to avoid this.
  13. Just to clarify, the forces are not all coming from the bottom up. There are shear forces that are only overcome by the friction induced by the clamping force of the bolt to the strut tower. The spacers are available with either 3/8 or 1/2" hardware. You do not have to drill out your strut tower if you do not want to.
  14. I used the Maxima MAF, can't remember the part number. The physical appearance was identical to my 01. I've been running the Maxima MAF since 2005 without issues. Something definitely odd with that purchase.. perhaps a mixup in part numbers?
  15. Bought a cheap bj from Napa for the passenger side, lasted 5 months, while my cheap bj from autopartsway.ca lasted a mere 3 months.
  16. Bought mine from www.crosscanadaparts.com for $133 each for my 01.
  17. Yes. I see your in Bracebridge. I just moved from there in summer '07 when Dura was closing. Beautiful place.
  18. www.autopartsway.ca also carries the urethane link bushings from time to time. I just ordered their last inventoried set, with the next ones on the way in 2-3 weeks apparently. Their part number is W0133-1620020 and they sell for $56.50 Canuck bucks.
  19. You may want to hit up a junk yard for seats from a newer Pathfinder. That will be the most simple solution. Without having access to a welder and engineering/fabricating proper floor mounting brackets to the seat adjuster rails, you are putting your life in your hands should you be in a collision. Floor/seat pan mounting brackets improperly designed will change how the rails cope with the dynamic forces experienced in a collision, which could be a fatal mistake. It is interesting how many folks install "racing buckets" expecting them to be superior in a crash, when they pay only minute attention to their attachment points. Seatbelts are designed to protect the occupant, not the occupant and the weight of the seat.
  20. I'll post pictures on the weekend. The main reason I have not produced these is the pain in the rear factor. Both the 3.3 and 3.5 require completely different setups. On the 3.3, you have to contend with brake lines, AC lines, less than optimally placed master cylinder etc. Keep in mind that for a strut bar to be effective, proper angles must be maintained in order not to induce excesive flex into the strut bar itself, thereby eliminating the purpose of installing the bar. The bars I have on the 97 and 01 are tied into the firewall as well as the opposing strut tower. Just look at all the lines and accessories over top the tower, now try to imagine wiggling in a 1.5" o.d. bar and flange... I do not have a CNC bender, so all the bends are a pain... a real pain. I'll stop though as I believe this would be classified as "thread jacking".
  21. Hmm... not sure why I didn't see an e-mail, but I have made two strut bars, but the problem is working around all the various items around the path of the strut bars for the different model variations.... OPen your hood and check the path. It's not a simple bolt on like the brace discussed in this thread.
  22. Hey I noticed your in the SAE mini baja. I competed in that competition several years ago. Oddly enough I was the suspension and drive train designer which it appears your also tackling. Great fun!
  23. Had the service done and it took my dealer ~2-3 hours to complete.
  24. I wouldn't take that lightly as I've personally been involved in two instances where similar smells were detected, however in both cases they we're F250's which had high beam switches shorting out and slowly burning the underlay... Both eventually burned. Have you had any recent work done to the exhaust? Previously I had new exhaust installed from Midas where they left the stickers on the exhaust which slowly burned and left foul smells wherever I traveled. Good luck in your search.
