yeah...you were running so dry that you managed to get 2.125 gallons out of nowhere. I think that's your logic? Don't worry, I'm just having some fun with you. In actuality, I think they only put the 15 gallon tanks in some of the 80s pathfinders with the z24? I could be completely wrong about this. Most of the variation in tank sizes happens on the Hardbodys. I think the v6 4x4s got the 21 gallon tank and everything else got the 15gal? I'm not sure. Odds are, you have the 21 gallon tank. Especially since you just told me that you don't have the 15gallon tank.

That's probably the best way to do it actually. If you can life the engine up a little bit, then you don't even have to remove that many components. Instead of jacking it up, I would think you would need an engine hoist because you wouldn't want to jack it up on the oil pan, and I don't know of any other possible jacking point. Besides that you wouldn't want to jack it up on the part what you want to take off. Anyway, lifting the engine up would require unbolting the motor mounts, unbolting and sliding the transmission back (I would think? You can't pull the engine up with the transmission, unless you get the transmission prepared for removal), oh wait..you WOULD have to remove the transmission. There's no way to get in there and get access to the engine without removing the transmission. Unless you want to disconnect everything and entirely pull the engine. There's just no space. I guess you COULD do it, but you would cut your hands like nobody's business and that's not safe. We can't have that. Actually, dropping the front differential wouldn't be that bad. I did it half way. There are two 17mm bolts with nuts on the other side holding the cross member up. Get these bolts out and the front diff will drop down a few inches. Then there are 3 bolts holding the front diff to the cross member. You need to remove these. These are also 17mm, but you will need a deep 17mm socket and you better not slip and round those nuts. Then you have to disconnect the CV axles and remove the front diff from the front cross member with the bushing. I think that's all? Oh yeah, remove the secondary drive shaft of course. Nvm. the point Nefarious made was that it's hard to put back in. I guess because it's heavy?

Anything is possible. Definitely. And it IS a bit silly that the plate doesn't cover the oil pan. If it doesn't cover the oil pan, than what is it there for? What's it protecting? A sway bar and a stabilizer?
-
get under there and look at the tank. Are you telling me that you've never put more than 15 gallons in it at a time?
-
oh yeah. you're totally right. I didn't want the FLAMES to jump from drop to drop and blow up his truck. I mean, the 2 minutes between drips is a HUGE fire hazard. Damn, this is probably why there are so many fatalities on the road. I wonder what people could do to prevent it? I have an idea!!! If we all used water instead of engine oil, then NOTHING would EVER catch on fire. And while we're at it, let's make lighters and stoves illegal. Toasters too, boy, those are a doosey. Also, **** (insert insult there) notice how he mentioned the exhaust AFTER I said to ignore it.

yes..there IS a place you can find out, in fact. The owner's manual, FSM, or the multiple threads around here. Nissan offered 15gal and 21gal tanks. Instead of running your tank dry, you can either assume it's a 21gal tank (which plenty of people are skeptical due to it not filling above 3/4 tank on the needle), or you can burn about 19 gallons or so and fill it up. See what happens

whaaa??? how much oil do you think you are leaking?
-
I think people should make a habit of testing new alternators before they even leave the store. It's ridiculous how many of them fail. Then you have to go back and have it tested and then argue with the cashier for a new one..
-
uhh...? your front differential should be RIGHT under your oil pan. Besides that, you have the crossmember and the transmission in the way. It would be very hard to damage your oil pan, but some people have talent.
-
hey everyone..keep in mind, running out of gas is very bad for your fuel pump. To everyone who is like "I'm gonna run it out of gas and keep a 3 gallon jug" dont do that. You are damaging your fuel pump. THAT'S the real reason they took the 2nd gauge out. They put an idiot light in. When people see the light, they KNOW they need gas, but not everyone looks at their gauges all the time. So sometimes they would run out of gas and it would damage the fuel pumps. I guess people got made and complained. People be stupid.

well what happened? Did your pan gasket somehow deteriorate? Is it a slow leak, a huge leak? To be completely honest, It's not worth taking the oil pan out. You either have to pull the engine, or completely disassemble the front. IF you can somehow slide a gasket between the pan and the block with about 1/4 inch of space, then go for it, but otherwise, don't. If it's a small leak, just leave it. Add a pint of oil every 3 months or whatever.

Cut the bolts off with a saw-zall, sand/grind down some of the rust on the exhaust pipe, and use new bolts. Or better yet, get new piping. That's what I did. My exhaust was rusted horribly and I don't even live in a rust state.

hey, at least you're doing it right instead of releasing a product that ins't finished yet. This is the mistake that too many people do.

it really was.

around where I am there are some super rare golden commodity. can't find them anywhere. Like I said, I ordered it three times from Autozone and I still can't get it. Pep Boys said they had it in stock, but couldn't find it on their shelves in the back. I don't know if it's this way where you are, but where I am, all the auto parts stores don't even sell auto parts. They mostly sell stupid stuff. Advance Auto is full of stick-on hood scoops, chrome vents, and things like that.

I got it!!!!!!!! I had to type in some obscure combination of words and a guy had the same problem as me. A very helpful person told me to solder two wires together. What a lifesaver. I swear I owe him. I suppose a mod should lock this?
-
I finally got them. I had to go to some small-time independant parts store to get them. They actually knew what they were doing. Imagine that. Even the secondary flange gaskets I got from Pep Boys were the right size. I had to reuse some old rusty gasket because they were closed. Oh well. That's just me ranting and being a bit negative. I love those independant shops even if they are a bit more expensive

long story short, my dad and I FINALLY got everything hooked up. We go to start it and no go. All the lights work fine, the interior lights, headlights. We tested the battery, it's good. When I go to start it, NOTHING. It doesn't turn over at all. I will go triple check the starter for connectivity, but it's not trying to start. Sometimes ( one out of three times maybe) it will give one quiet click as I take it off the START position. I read somewhere that I needed to jump the Part-Neutral relay? I assume that is the same as the Clutch Inhibit relay? I tried to jump that, but I'm sure I did it wrong. I couldn't find a thread around here for the Park-Neutral Relay or Neutral Safety Switch or Clutch Inhibitor relay (are these the same or three entirely different things?). I looked. Does the clutch need buttons on it? When I got the clutch pedal from the donor, the truck had two buttons. I assumed these were for cruise control? I have the buttons, but I couldn't find connectors. I know all the wiring harnesses are the same, but that plug must be tucked up somewhere real good.

I'm 98% done with my whole transmission swap. I had to take the exhaust out to get the transmission out. On top of that, I want to replacement my broken manifold studs. After a week and a half, I finally have manifold gaskets. Those are the one for between the manifold and the head. Now, I can't get the ones for between the manifolds and the flanges. I can't find them ANYWHERE. It's really pissing me off that I can't finish this because of some stupid gaskets. Advance Auto Parts doesn't sell gaskets for my truck at all. Autozone doesn't sell the one I need. Pep boys can't find it on their shelves. I'm about to cut one out of am old manifold gasket, but I know that won't fit. Where can I get these gaskets? They are the ones with three bolt holes. Autozone sold a kit with the manifold and flange gaskets. I ordered it three times but they can't seem to get it.

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT mind freak. No, I google'd this for a solid 10 mins. I got every picture of a dash cluster posted on NPORA except this one. Really though, if you google anything for Pathfinders, this site pretty much floods google. Sorry I couldn't find it. That's amazing. I bet they only put the 2nd gauge on WD21s for like a year? So it would be really hard to find

what's the point of a flat bed? can't haul anything in it..can't put anything on it. Is it just an excuse of a "complete vehicle" so I won't get pulled over? To me, a flat bed would be absolutely useless.
-
oh @!*%!!?!?!?!?! is this true or did you make that up? That sounds really farfetch'd. TWO fuel guages?!?! pics or it didn't happpen
-
uh...you should probably get a sway bar on there. or not if you don't like to be able to handle or turn at all
-
thanks for merging it. That's actually a really good point. Yeah. I'll look into it. I'm FINALLY finishing up with my transmission swap, so I'll probably take the bed off over winter break. I hope the bed isn't too heavy. A bent frame though? That sounds kinda hard to do..wouldn't my bumper be destroyed?
-
yeah. you definitely make some really good points. I might do it down the road or something. I think I read somewhere that the threads on the heads are very vulnerable. If you put manifold studs in and out too many times the threads can be come weak? something like that..idk. At this point, I just want my truck back together in one piece. I love the idea of custom fabrication type stuff, but I don't have the means. I don't have any means to pull my engine and stuff like that. Maybe when I'm older, have more money, and most importantly, have space. I guess I wasn't thinking of how to enlarge the bolt holes though. Duh.
