  1. re-indexed my torsion bars as the previous owner's neighbor took them out when they swapped the engine and transmission, guess the neighbor had no clue as to what he was doing as one side had 1/2" of clearance between the UCA and the bumpstop and on the other side the UCA was sitting on the bumpstop, check out my pics below for the before and after, this was how it looked before I bought it, notice even without the flare there is like no clearance between the tire and fender: this is after re-indexing the bars, notice now the flare is on and how much clearance there is: I think I raised the front a little too high but it should settle anyway
  2. thanks, from all the reviews of people using them in their cars I think they should work. Appreciate it.
  3. here's a set of brand new 35 MT/r's for sale still have the stickers on them http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1701609864.html oops just noticed they have a different tread, oh well, I tried
  4. Took the adjustable shock switch apart today and the bulb is no good, it is easily replaced but can't find a source for it. Even in Nissan FAST it just shows the switch itself, don't want to spend $40 on a switch when all it needs is the bulb. The bulb that is in the AC switch looks the same but has a different base, but the bulb itself can be removed from the base and put in the other base. So anyone know where I could find these bulbs? Looking for sources other than junkyard or the dealer. Thanks
  5. as long as the AC clutch is not engaged it shouldn't effect anything if the compressor takes a crap, usually when you turn on the AC if the clutch doesn't engage it means the freon is low, one way to determine if it is low is to locate the low pressure switch on or near the accumulator/drier, unplug the connector and use a jumper between the 2 pins in the plug, if the clutch engages it would indicate the freon is low. The compressor making noise, first you need to verify if it is the compressor itself or it may be an idler pulley if your truck has one. On my 90 sentra I was hearing a noise and pinpointed it down to the compressor, took off the belt that just runs the compressor and the noise stopped, my car does have the idler or tensioner pulley but noise was not coming from it.
  6. here's what my local junkyard shows in their inventory:
  7. according to the Nissan FAST program and decoding the option packages that were available after 92, they all list General tires, my 87 Pickup had Firestone ATX's which looked like a copy of the first generation BFG all terrain
  8. I would also suggest on any vehicle that is as old as these to replace all the vacuum lines whether they appear good or not
  9. I looked in the FSM for a 94 that I have ( don't have one for a 92) but I think you can download it from this site. anyway in 94 FSM, the EC section on page 240 it takes you thru the steps to troubleshoot the EGR function when code 32 is present
  10. this happened to me also on the 94 I just bought, first thing I would suggest to check is to pull all the spark plugs, when I pulled mine the first 5 looked ok but the 6th one was definitely hit, I couldn't understand how the plug would have gotten hit as I didn't think the piston could go up that high, it wasn't until I spoke to my mechanic who told me the piston hit the valve which hit the plug, makes sense. Anyway, I would look at all the plugs, if you find one hit you bent a valve than follow the previous advice.
  11. just went thru this with my 94 I just bought, on mine the water was coming in at the base of the windshield, where the trim sits on the glass, I could see an area where there was a gap, put some silicone in there and checked it 2 days later with the hose and also 2 times after heavy rain and no more water. I was also able to see exactly where the water was coming into the cab from and have pictures which I will post below, good luck. this u shaped bracket is on the inner fender and the plastic part screwed to it is the AC heater box
  12. think that was about when they were first introduced, I know they were priced very expensive at the time
  13. they also list fiberglass fenders for the 84-95 hardbody for $240 link here http://www.kartek.com/Specials/FiberglassNissan.html that's all I found for the hardbody or pathfinder, rest of the stuff is frontier, xterra or titan
  14. ok, that makes sense as I have instructions (that I did not scan) that were mailed to me from JCR for a shock kit and it says Desert Steel on the top of the page Oh, I e-mailed Jim Connor Racing last night here: http://www.jimconnerracing.com/Home.html
  15. just noticed this, this should answer the question on whether or not AC parts took over from Jim Connor Racing, notice the background, the truck the parking lot: from JCR catalog: from 4x4 parts web site: and since JCR was around BEFORE 4x4 parts..........
  16. sorry if this was mentioned but I didn't see anything about this, Has anyone considered drilling a hole in the side where the bushings/pin goes and screwing a Zerk fitting in so grease can be added later?? opps just saw this "Note the grease point, make sure its clear - later down the road this is where grease (with a pin style injector) can be injected into the joint." still think a Zerk fitting would be better
  17. the ball joint spacer welded in I guess was just the first way they figured out how to get some lift out of the Nissan front end (at a reasonable cost as I'm sure there were custom race style arms available for a long time), I have seen other companies (all long closed down) way back in the day doing the same thing. The newer tubular UCA's eliminate the spacer by changing the angle that the ball joint sits at in the UCA and thereby eliminates the need for the spacer. If you think about the design, cranking the torsion bars is what provides the lift by moving the lower control arm down, of course the upper control arm has to follow since they are connected by the spindle, so cranking the bars with stock parts limits the amount of lift because the upper arm will hit the bumpstop sooner, guess that's why people started replacing the bump stop with lower profile ones. Anyway, throw a spacer in and it allows the UCA to be moved lower providing more lift. Of course we know what happens when you crank the bars too far as far as the ride and cv angles are concerned. the colored arms and available at no extra cost too!! what a deal!! Anyone compare the prices to today's parts yet? The price lists I posted are jobber price sheets from my old job.
  18. "I think I remember way back that Automotive customizers bought all of JCR's inventory when they closed shop. "
  19. I wouldn't consider using the factory shock, I used to tell people all the time the first thing to replace on any new truck is the shocks, most of the stock shocks are usually garbage. I had a rancho single stabilizer on my 87 Hardbody but as koveman said about his and I agree even with the Rancho I didn't notice any difference
  20. I've seen the mount your talking about but don't recall ever seeing a truck that had a factory steering stabilizer. Most aftermarket stabilizers don't use that bracket anyway. When you install larger tires and wheels than stock they tend to emphasize any weaknesses you may have in your front end. larger tires will normally raise havoc over time on the Nissan front end so make sure to check your ball joints and idler arm, did you get it re-aligned after switching to the new tires? Nissan FAST shows a steering dampener as being an option
  21. No problem, I like posting old stuff like this for the younger generation to see, you should see my thread in the boombox forum that I belong too, it's about 5 pages longer than this one just with old ad's and stuff!! that's what I said in that thread, but I think I remember way back that Automotive customizers bought all of JCR's inventory when they closed shop. Just found out last night the JCR is still in the race business but not with Nissans. On my 87 Hardbody I had the reinforced uca's with the optional mounts to use triple shocks with the hoops, I had a lot of stuff from this catalog back in the day. I'll have to check in storage but I think I still have the dual shock mounts for the rear don't know if they would work on the pathfinder though.
  22. your catching up!! LOL I'm 44 by the way what do you think of the pics?
