  1. what do you expect he owns a Mazda !!! LOL
  2. $1100 is nuts, what were they going to use gold pipe?? I see shops advertising dual exhaust down here for $250,
  3. I went out today and bought the second adapter I posted, the bolt hole spacing ended up being way to small but I overcame that problem, I made an adapter out of 3/8 or 1/2 in plexi, (not sure the exact thickness), that sits against the MAF sensor than I cut the corners off of the adapter I bought and used a washer on each bolt to hold the adapter to the spacer, under the spacer I ran a piece of weatherstripping for now will replace that with a large O-ring. i installed the K&N filter I had from my Dakota, could not use the K&N Apollo at this time I need to get a smaller coupling, the one I had from my Dakota is way to big and too long. I used a bracket that was under the stock airbox to hold the maf and filter up, just had to bend the top end straight. I can say one thing this thing is really LOUD, LOL. Only thing I notice that I haven't figured out yet is at idle I hear a constant whistling?? Pics below: close up of the bracket I used to support the filter assembly bolted into another bracket that was already there, think it was one of the stock air box mounts: And what exactly is this supposed to do?? I always thought it was there to reduce the sound of the air flowing thru the filter but when I flipped this part over and saw the way it is made and the fact that it doesn't even flow from one end to the other ( I ran water thru it to check), I was like WTF??
  4. I never used the E-brake in my 87, I think the cable actually broke after we did the body lift as one day I pulled the brake handle out and something let go, Going Tuesday to see if the 98 console is still at the junkyard if it is I'm buying it and will start the conversion next weekend, I had the stock console out last night re-doing the rear screw anchors and I looked out how the E-brake mount was attached to the floor, it doesn't look to difficult to move over, a little trimming here and there maybe some new nutserts in the floor for the bolts, we will see.
  5. I did the relay for the starter as specified, so far started truck about 10 times and started every time !! I didn't route or secure the wires yet wanted to see if it would work first, I didn't cut the wire going to the starter solenoid, I just extended it and ran it to the relay, than from the relay I ran a new 10 Gauge wire to the solenoid, what rating fuse would you recommend on the wire from the battery to the relay? I used 10 gauge for this wire and did not want to splice in a fuse holder with smaller gauge wire so for right now I ran it with no fuse, I know not good but wanted to see if it would work, pic below where I put the relay: blue is going to starter solenoid wire, yellow to solenoid and red to battery, black looped to relay screw is the ground
  6. Anyone ever consider swapping the E-brake from the floor mount to the dash mount like the early Hardbody's had? would make installing the newer center console easier
  7. The surplus site for Nissan parts has these 2 available, just sent an e-mail to inquire about price, would one of these be better than the single larger fan from the Taurus? I think the fans for an automatic are more powerful, the one I bought for my Sentra is a beast and it was for a automatic. I paid $65 for the sentra dual fan unit and it listed for $307 so if I decide to go with the Maxima fan maybe can get as good or better deal, the surplus site usually will give me a better price as I buy a lot of stuff from them. first 2 are from a automatic trans Maxima this is for a manual trans maxima
  8. change of plans, junkyard closes at 4:00 would take me an hour to get there and it's starting to thunder now so may wait till Tuesday as I am off, nice having Monday's off as when ever a holiday falls on Monday we get Tuesday off too, Govt job , LOL, hopefully the console will still be there, and maybe a taurus electric fan $15 can't beat the prices if it works being so old.
  9. just told my wife about the console from the 98 PF, and that it has cupholders, which is all she cares about, LOl but she just told me to go to the junkyard and get it!! said I'm not doing anything else but sitting in front of my computer, so I am off again, I'll grab that trim pc that I didn't get yesterday, it seems all and all when I got home I still have some funds left. Hope it's still there, she also told me to buy the 2 tires if I want them, but that's a pain in the butt, would have to buy the tires and wheels than have them unmounted and than return the wheels think I'll pass even though they are a really good deal, but what is the chance I will ever find 2 more matching 31" BFG mud terrains used again, catch you all later, if anyone wants me to look for anything send me a PM and I'll give you my cell number
  10. yes 2 of them will ratchet forward about 6 clicks, I swapped a pair into my 90 sentra from a sport coupe also, but just noticed a a pair of them in the PF do it also
  11. Just noticed yesterday that the rear seat had one ratcheting head rest and one fixed one, than checked the front seats and same thing, so I assume the ratcheting ones were supposed to be for the front seats, so I switched the 2 around, did the Pf's come with 2 ratcheting headrests?
  12. it wasn't that hard to do just would have thought the strut would have been easier to remove, are the factory struts for the whole door the same way?
  13. the one's I bought from the junkyard that were on the 99 PF had the correct upper mount just the bottom mount had the metal clips that make them easy to remove, and they are skinnier too, but they work and they were cheap!!
  14. Can someone do me a favor and measure the width at the widest point ( or between the seats) and let me know what the width is? thanks
  15. this is from FAST and is for the lower half of the mount:
  16. is this the adapter you used? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/accessories/accProductDetails.jsp?counter=5&categoryDisplayName=&fromString=&itemIdentifier=862362_0_0_&productId=862362&sortType=&parentId=8-10&filterByKeyWord=&categoryNValue=&navValue=101488&fromWhere=&itemId=1488-10&displayName=Mounting+Bracket&store=2406&skuDisplayName=4+in.+air+intake+duct+mounting+plate&brandName=Spectre probably this one I just found: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/accessories/accProductDetails.jsp?counter=0&categoryDisplayName=&fromString=&itemIdentifier=422450_0_0_&productId=422450&sortType=&parentId=8-10&filterByKeyWord=&categoryNValue=&navValue=101300&fromWhere=&itemId=1300-10&displayName=Intake+Duct+Filter+Adapter&store=2406&skuDisplayName=Air+duct+mounting+plate&brandName=Spectre
  17. ok, just checked the price at the local junkyard any single blade electric fan $14.99
  18. thanks will check it out tomorrow, I already have 3 K&N filters here, a 3" inlet I had on my V8 dakota, a 2.5 inlet I used on my 87 hardbody as a pre filter and the K&N Apollo kit I haven't taken out of the box yet, that is the one I plan to use as you can run the inlet pipe anywhere you wish to bring in more cold air and the entire filter is enclosed, pic below:
  19. just a heads up on swapping alternators, I wouldn't even consider going to a 90 amp from a 60 or 70, don't think there is that much of a gain to justify the swap, however the 96 Maxima came with either a 110 (I have one in my 90 sentra) or a 125 amp, these can reguarily be picked up at most junkyards for about $20, I got mine on a 50% off sale day, stopped at the local auto parts store on the way home and had them test it on their tester and it works fine, later on took it to a auto electric shop to see about getting a different pulley and had them test it also, tested 100%, good thing is once you do the swap even if you have to make up a custom bracket or something if it does fail you can buy a new one from the auto parts and it will bolt right in. Here are the numbers comparing the output of a stock 70 amp alternator to a Maxima 110 and 125 amp alternators, note: most numbers were taken from the FSM and the additional numbers on the 70 amp were taken from the tag that came with the last 70 amp alt I bought for my sentra: I know this is a electric fan thread but alternators have come up a few times and I think this applies to the topic. notice the output numbers at idle (although the lowest rpm is above most vehicles idle speed) when the electric fan would be running on the 70 amp +16 vs the 125 of +36 70 amp alternator (for my sentra for comparison) output at RPM: 1300 - greater than 16 amps 1600 - 41 * 1800 - 48 * 2000 - 54 * 2500 - greater than 50 3000 - 68 * 5000 - greater than 62 6000 - 80 * * = numbers taken from test sheet included with re-manufactured 70 amp alternator 110 amp alternator out of 96 Maxima 1300 - greater than 35 2500 - greater than 85 5000 - greater than 110 125 amp alternator out of 96 Maxima 1300 - greater than 36 2500 - greater than 94 5000 - greater than 123
  20. payday is this friday so if you don't get one by than I'll def. pick one up for you next weekend
  21. yes the ball mount unscrews from the hatch, I just cut the ball mount in half on the old strut, the struts I found in the junkyard have the metal retaining clips so they are easy to install or replace next time. Now need to find some for the whole door
  22. what gauge wire do you recommend to tie into the wire going to the solenoid? 10 gauge big enough? guess it doesn't pay to use a larger gauge than what the factory used right? so as was posted previously about checking the interlock relay, if the interlock relay is going bad or acting screwy, than adding the new relay won't help as the trigger wire for the new relay comes off the output of the interlock relay correct? Will wire that up tomorrow, thanks will post results
  23. that's the part I pulled but when I got to the checkout I wouldn't have had enough for the stuff I needed, sorry next time if you don't get one before than going to have to look for the pics of the console swap, I need some useable cupholders !!
