  1. Ok so today on the junkyards last 50% off everything sale, went and got a bunch of lock cylinders. Actually I got the all the lock cylinders from 2 pathfinders, could not figure out how to get the ignition cylinder out with out destroying the housing), got both doors and the hatch, 3rd pathfinder got all but the ignition, also got 2 door cylinders out of sentra's and 2 trunk cylinders out of 2 different sentra's. In total 15 lock cylinders, a door mirror glass ( for my sentra) and a wiring plug for my friends F-150, grand total was $2 to get in $5 for the parts. Of course I only paid for the glass and 2 lock cylinders!! LOL Honest I forgot about the other 13 in my tool box!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it !!! I took a few of the cylinders apart, cleaned all the springs and wafers and lock housings really good and re-did a ignition and 2 door cylinders to work with my PF's ignition key. Just have to find out about getting new outer chrome covers as I still can not remove them with out killing them. My question out of all this is, is it possible to pull the ignition lock cylinder with out destroying the housing??? I read somewhere about pushing some pins in, and I did see 2 brass pins but pushing them in seems to make the cylinder stay in better. So anyone have any info on removing the ignition cylinders with out damaging the outer housing? Web sites or links?? Today I spoke to a local locksmith who told me it is possible to remove the ignition lock cylinder as long as you have the key that fits the lock which of course I do have. I searched online and can not find any info pertaining to Nissan ignition cylinder removal. Thanks All.
  2. in the FSM under the manual A/C system it also shows the thermo control amplifier
  3. the plug should be up behind the glove box, and yes the manual air conditioning has it.
  4. Been so busy lately, daughter just bought a trailer where we live and is moving back down here in 12 days so we have been fixing stuff at her new home, plus just had roofer fix like 7 soft spots in our roof, had a wedding to go to last Saturday, PF gets put on the back burner and it's so darn hot down here really hard to get motivated to do anything outside. Want to go to junkyard also to start the re=keying the locks project.
  5. Thanks, glad to be a member on the best Pathfinder site online !!
  6. According to the Autometer site the oil pressure thread is: Oil Pressure Gauge Thread Size 1/4 NPT
  7. Had a few minutes to kill so I did a test riv nut install in a piece of the tube I cut off the front end, seems like it will work good even installing the riv nut in a tube:
  8. this is where I had my gauges in the 87 hardbody, 93 PF has the same dash right?
  9. My JDM was from a 4x4 so my tech said all he changed over was the throttle body as my truck has cruise the new engine did not. I even had him leave the oil in it that was in it as I wanted to make sure there were no leaks before I put Mobil one in, he pulled the plugs and checked them and said they were ok. The engine ran perfect when I picked it up, I had one light on the dash that turned out to be the exhaust temp sensor that the JDM engine didn't have, but I removed it from the old engine and the new engine had the plug for it but it had a cap in it. After I got it home I replaced the plugs, fuel & air filters and the oil and filter. But straight from the JDM engine store it ran very well. The first JDM engine I had put in my 87 Hardbody had to have the intake manifold and valve covers swapped, it had a FI system that I had never seen on any US based engine, the motor had to be out of a RWD as it had a belt driven fan, but it also had ribbed pulleys the stock VG30 has "V" belt pulleys. We also swapped the oil pump to a 300ZX one as it had the correct ribbed pulley to match the new JDM engine.
  10. OEM spark plug removal tool looks like this but for the VG30E it is about 10" long:
  11. If the ignition cylinder is the same as the door I'll do it myself. Will have to take one apart at the junkyard first so I don't ruin mine. Was going to stop at the local locksmith to see about the replacement covers in case I damage any of the ones I have, plan on pulling a few out of the junkyard PF's
  12. I noticed when at the junkyard that the VG30E pathfinders have a real long spark plug tool in the jack bag, I still have the socket from my 87 hardbody and it is much shorter. When I replaced my plugs I was able to remove it no problem but had to have my neighbor and his skinny arm get the new one in for me.
  13. Was thinking of what you said about re-keying my sentra to match the pathfinder than had a thought, what about the ignition? Can it be re-keyed the same way the door lock is done? Anyone know how to take the ignition cylinder apart??
  14. I think after I get them both mounted and take them off to paint I'll paint each one a different color to see which looks best, or I can have someone photoshop a pic to see. Prob going to do black though, but the sun is so hard on black down here. Would have to be a gloss or maybe that bar b cu black paint.
  15. I doubt any of the locks would use all the same wafer, but was just trying to figure out the possible number of combinations. I found a tool online that is made to remove the outer caps one site it was like $60 the second site had no price, probably could find a plier that would work similar, here is a pic of it:
  16. maybe one of our Nissan employees can research this for us?
  17. GOOD IDEA !!! probably going to the junk yard Saturday to grab a couple dozen lock cylinders, only thing that will give me a problem is getting that outer cover off. The 2 I took apart yesterday I had to use a cutting pliers to remove the outer piece and basically ruined them. I saw how the guy did it on that web site saying to use a screwdriver but none of the one's I had worked. Still want to know how many different wafers there are, on that site he shows four but don't know if that is all there is. Any idea where to buy wafers or outer covers? Math time ( I hate math!!), if the cylinder has 8 wafers and their are only 4 different ones, how many possible key combinations would there be? do you figure that by multiplying 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 40,320 ??? or ??
  18. like they say opinions are like ...... everyone has one!!, lol
  19. personally to me, the pathfinder ended after 95, I can't stand the real new one's at all, only thing pathfinder looking is the rear door handles, just my opinion. Bring on the negative comments !!
  20. James, did you paint over the sparkly finish or sand them down to the bare metal?
  21. I had (still have) a set of shock hoops and was going to do a coil over off the upper control arm to the hoop, but people were saying it wouldn't be strong enough to support the vehicle, guess it could have been judging by those pics. Figured if you did a coil over you could eliminate the torsion bars and just set your ride height by adjusting the coil.
  22. Just 5 minutes ago I finished re-keying a Sentra door lock to fit my pathfinder key, next junk yard trip I'm going to grab a few lock cylinders and re-key them to fit my Ignition key than swap them into my doors. Right now I have a separate key for the ignition and the doors, would be nice to have one key for all the locks. Oh, installed the glove box latch/lock that I re-keyed last night, works perfectly! Anyone have any idea how many different wafers there are for these locks? So far in taking 3 apart I have found 3 different ones.
  23. I was actually thinking of doing something like that when I had my hardbody, to eliminate the torsion bars
