  1. Hey Chris, for the best of both worlds, and to alleviate any stress the power valve screws might give you, why not look for a nice 99.5-00 SE w/ the off road package. That way you get the better styling cues of the second gen. R50's w/ the VG's reliability. That guy OR99.5speed had a really nice example of said model
  2. VQ, hands down. VG's are slow as molasses and the VQ power valve screws are a relatively easy fix with a little bit of wrench knowledge, an afternoon and some loctite. BOTH engines impress the hell out of me however. My mother used to have a 97 Q w/ the VG, all I remember was it wailing along at 5K RPM whenever pushed to pass on the interstate. VQ's really haven't been around for all that long though, so it's pretty hard to be able to swear by them. My vote, as far as track records and reliability goes to begin WOULD go to the VG, given their incredibly reliable history, but I have no qualms about my VQ yet, and much prefer the extra horses kicking around Both are excellent engines!
  3. yes, it is the same engine, but I haven't done any sort of research on the Infiniti line w/ this engine (FX35, G35, M35)
  4. Far as I know they're the only ones, at least, that's the only place I've seen them. I've heard LOT'S of mixed reviews on them.
  5. Not sure what your question is? Are you asking if you can mount lights in this opening??? Why wouldn't you be able to?
  6. We shall see then. I only got them because they were much cheaper and an import parts store by my house happened to have them in stock. I guess only the long-term will tell.
  7. Thanks for giving me a hand w/ it! I managed to get all those wires untangled and wrapped up neatly now
  8. ...And this weekend it gets lifted
  9. Yeah I was thinking the same thing...I am doing my OME lift on Sat. and just replacing the bearings as well.....
  10. Just be prepared for sticker shock when asking that at your local parts dept.
  11. No they can't...only Nissans that can are Titan's and Armada's... As far as conversons, I think it's been discussed...try a search.
  12. New bearings and mounts...DEFINATELY new bearings, I wouldn't try to use your original's, possibly camber bolts as well. That should be it though.
  13. Alright, I'm installing the OME lift with GR-2's and RS 5000's today, along w/ new strut bearings. Pics when it's done
  14. Yep, 96-99's don't have a horn option. Has anybody tried holding down unlock for 3 seconds while pointing the keyfob at the truck? I did this the other day and my front windows went down. Call me a slow learner, but I didn't know I had that option!
  15. Yes, I do, but at the same time I know it never will be. I had this SAME EXACT ISSUE with my 02 SE-R and went through 2 engine replacements as a result of it. Shoddy work is what it comes down to, plain and simple. The fact that the dealer "threw in" a thing of loctite for Jarsiff is just hillarious to me, because it means they KNOW what's going on.
  16. Link Sounds like the same thing to me.
  17. The sporadic alarm issue is caused by worn out buttons in the rear doors (esp. if you say the rubber boot is gone) The car doesn't know when the doors really locked, especially if you can just pull on it and it will go off...the bad plugs are fooling it into thinking you're breaking in. I had a bad one on my front passenger door and replaced it and now it works fine again, but mine too would go off whenever it wanted, also when it was very wondy (because the leaning car made the plug think the door was open) Also, when I hit lock on the keyfob, the horn wouldn't beep, nor would the lights flash. This again was caused by the bad plug. It's no different than having the door wide open and hitting lock on the keyfob...it will lock buit you won't get the horn/lights. Replace those things, the issue will go away. I imagine a service dept. can order you some.
  18. man I really envy you Colorado folk sometime...but you Utah folk even more
