Nissan to revive Datsun brand for emerging markets, report says

I would say Chrysler products are now made better than they were before. -
Nissan to revive Datsun brand for emerging markets, report says
Tungsten replied to jwblue's topic in General Forums
The reality is Nissan would not even exist anymore if it wasn't for the watering down. Nissan faced a real financial disaster in 1999 so they had to go cheap or die. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan#Alliance_with_Renault -
That doesn't look like a hydraulic mount to me. Hydraulic mounts from Nissan are not even that great anyway because they leak out.

I had something like unccpathfinder did. Everything failed to the point where the frame needed to be welded and the entire strut rod assembly had to be replaced on both sides. Don't wait until it's too late!

Nissan to revive Datsun brand for emerging markets, report says
Tungsten replied to jwblue's topic in General Forums
They are going to only revive it to sell even crappier vehicles to make it look like Nissan is a mid level brand instead of an entry level brand. I only see this attracting the fixed income single mom crowd like the Yugo did back in the day. -
Did you remove the BPT valve or the EGR valve? Only removing the BPT valve will not do anything but increase the amount of exhaust gas re-circulation.
-
An alternative option could be to stick the temperature probe into the EGR bung in the exhaust manifold with some special adapter. It would work just as well I imagine.

I found the problem... They were the horn contacts behind the steering wheel. Just a quick conductive grease and the noise is gone. Sounds pretty scary without it.

Is adding a Tranny Filter "really" a good idea?
Tungsten replied to leeuniverse's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Is this a serious thread? Of course, filters on a transmission are the best idea. Personally, I would get a Fleetguard 6500 type filter because it's so much bigger than a Magnefine and the maintenance intervals aren't as short. Any filter that you use will work and is recommended by transmission experts. -
Question regarding the "Defective Tranny Cooler".....?
Tungsten replied to leeuniverse's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
If you have a WD21, don't try to stuff a 1.5" deep cooler (B&M 70264) like I did in front of the condenser. I had to cut the grill up to get that thing to fit. -
All the BPT valve equipped trucks in my experience complain if you remove the EGR valve. That makes sense because the BPT already scales down EGR valve function to a minimum and improves performance. You can have the least possible exhaust gas and still pass NOx emissions with the BPT valve. Now before I get any PMs, mine never had a BPT valve, it was retrofitted in there with a BPT compatible EGR valve. All you need is: 1x bracket to hang the BPT valve 1x t-fitting 1x BPT tube 1x BPT valve I know my truck will pass with a BPT setup just fine. I haven't tried going for an emissions test without the EGR valve working at all but from what my previous results were it looks like it will pass without the valve even being there. For those of you who have a BPT valve you can do a few tests. 1. Try accelerating 2. Unplug the BPT valve and try accelerating 3. Unplug the EGR valve and try accelerating You will see that with no EGR the engine has the most power, with it the least, and with a BPT valve it is somewhere in the middle.

@ 9.4 horsepower yeah an older pathy should certainly pass emissions with no EGR valve because of the lower standards for that year

I don't know who your mechanic is but unless the frame has failed entirely you can still get it repaired even with massive rot. That body looks like it's in great shape. Still worth fixing IMO!

Question regarding the "Defective Tranny Cooler".....?
Tungsten replied to leeuniverse's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I have a 24k GVW cooler (biggest that could fit, seriously) run after the radiator cooler. I just need to add a filter in the chain before the radiator and it will be perfect. -
Question regarding the "Defective Tranny Cooler".....?
Tungsten replied to leeuniverse's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I don't know about that radiator but my new radiator was never near 200F. I took the reading from the top of the radiator with a multimeter when the truck was fully up to temp and it sat around 160F. I never bypassed mine and the fluid will get much cooler when it flows inside the external stacked cooler. My transmission will run at about 140F all day and get up to temp quickly in the winter. If your stock cooler is clogging, your transmission is already toast. Also, bypassed or not, installing a filter in the line along with the cooler is the best thing you can do for the transmission other than checking up on the fluid every so often. -
If you have a pathy with dual converters you might be able to get away running without the EGR valve. Remember, the California rigs have a BPT valve, which minimizes the amount of recirculated exhaust gas. Having the Pathfinders come without an EGR valve is very believable. VG30Es will have no adverse effects not running the EGR setup.

cut the wires off on the old shocks to preserve the connector holes
-
I think the newer ECUs will throw a CEL if they don't like what goes on with the temperature sensor. Must have been something Nissan did to deter people from unplugging the EGR valve.

Swapping the dashboard is fun in the wiring department.

How do you drive an automatic transmission?
Tungsten replied to ScottZ's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
R50s have enough room up front to run a cooler twice that thickness: B&M 70264 -
What are you buying again?
-
So that is just a water catcher for a compressor routed between the PCV output and intake?
-
HIDs are xenon. All the other bulbs are just halogen lights tinted blue to look like xenon. You need an igniter for xenon filled bulbs.
-
I don't know about that one but if you say so then I will have to agree. I know someone on here capped it and got worse mileage but I got a different opinion about it from others where it actually made the power better but no difference in mileage. It does improve power if you remove it, I have done that one before. I would just unplug that crap so you could plug it back in for emissions testing if you live in a state that requires emissions. If not, @!*%can it. Just a little FYI here: My cluster has a blank spot for a CEL but I just run a bulb there to monitor the oxygen sensor. It does not go on with the EGR unplugged or at least I haven't done enough testing to make sure that it won't go on. Removing the EGR function is very simple. Just unplug the tube going to the vacuum of the EGR valve and cap it. If you have a CEL after that, you can try and unplug the temperature monitor for the EGR. If you have the BPT valve, don't worry about it because once you pull the vacuum to the EGR valve, the BPT valve will become inoperable. Better yet, just pinch off the tube going to the valve and then you don't need any caps.

That's interesting... Any information on the shift kit yet? Harder shifts make the transmission last longer anyway.
