I dig that bumper sticker!!! I saw a pretty good one today on the way in to work. It said: Driver carries no cash He is married. definetely not the best but I got a chuckle outof it.

Anybody have an idea off hand how often the distributor rotor should be changed? I changed my plugs when I did my t-belt change like 1500 miles ago but did not change the wires or cap or rotor now I hear a arcing sound coming from around #6 plug but I checked it at night and cannot see any arcing in the dark. So now I guess I should change the wires and cap and rotor. How difficult is it to change on a R50 I did a search and read something about some kinda screw on the VG30 engine just not sure if mine is the same any help is appreciated.

oh then I tried using the puller and ofcourse I put the jaws on the first lip and broke it!! yay then I realized I needed to use the bolts. lesson learned so watch out for the lips on teh balancer they are like some kinda pot-metal or something.
-
When I pulled my harmonic balancer I had a heck of a time breaking the main bolt loose. I did not have an air compressor and impact so I bought a cheapo from harbor freight (electric) figured why not. well if you have ever seen one it is huge. anyway it would not fit. So I got my biggest rachet and an impact socket 27mm for the R-50. wedged it under the frame and bumped the starter and it loosened it right up.

Maybe try a combination of what you have been doing? Try heating it up while spraying penetrating fluid let it sit and cool down a bit, then take a hammer and give it good taps while spraying more penetrating fluid in it then hit it with a impact. (harbor freight electric cheapo). Even though the electrick impact only goes up to like 240lbs or so (I think) the mere fact that you are "Impacting" it or hammering it whatever you wanna call it should break it loose. That is all I know to do besides the super long breaker bar. Or... If you need more a more powerful impact call up some tire repair shops sometimes they have trucks that do on-sight tire repairs. It might be a small fee but somebody could possibly stop by and use their heavy-duty impact. The last job I worked at every winter we would change out our fork-lift tires during the winter to hardrubber with chains. We did this ourselve but sometimes the lugs on the forklifts would be way to hard to get even with the big breaker bar so we would call our tire company(I say our tire co. since they provided all the tires for our fleet of trucks) somebody would stop by and help us out with his in-bed compressor and big-a$$ impact gun. I am sure they would charge you but I am just trying to give you some last ditch options. good luck precise!!! let us know what you do.

I was checking one out just the other day. I dig the ground clearence for a stock truck. I read somewhere that it's off-road capability is pretty darn good. The major turn-offs for me are A--it has way too much plastic on it B--It looks like more of a mall-crawler than a 4x4. C--Visibility from inside is horrible, the A-pillars block alot of your view (whoops did not see that tree!) and last it is "fugly". reminds me of a van that got squished. Oh and what is up with the bright M&M colors?? I have only seen them in ugly yellow, and M&M blue. I bet black looks alright. sorry just my .02.
-
And I understand this. I am just worrying too much because money is tight and I just spent the money and time replacing the t-belt and other things so I want my truck to be perfect. which it is not. Sometimes I get really pissed because just as I am finally saving a little dough for some armor something breaks...oh well that is how it is i guess just gotta be patient.
-
oh I looked a little harder and saw the wiring harness on the door. my bad.
-
Well max I think you should get netting like they use for windows in nascar... weld a tube straight across halfway up then order up some netting matching the color of your truck!!! I think it would be SWEEET. oh and by the way what did you do with yoru wires for the pw pl?? sssh
-
NOt completly sure what you mean by "jacks" are you talking about the plugs for teh OBDII diagnostic tool? Sorry I have never had to deal with these or the SES for that matter before. I am stumped, hopefully I can get it to autozone soon.
-
Doing the plugs and wires is not too bad.. The number 6 plug can be a PITA just remember to use the tools provided in teh spare tire repair kit. As far as the distributor I am not sure as I have not done it yet. Think I need to soon though
-
Hi all I do not have much time to spend searching so here it goes if you get mad because I did not search sorry then do not read any further. I was driving in Boulder CO yesterday and my SES light came on, I pulled over and popped the hood and everything appeared normal. Unfortunately I had to continue driving it all the way home (like an hour on the interstate). Today I checked everything like fluids etc and everything is tip top. And the truck is running perfectly?? I have no idea how to check ecu codes as I have never had too. I thought I remember somebody saying I could take it to autozone and they could read the codes for me is this true? Again sorry for not searching for my answers first but it is late and I gotta go hope somebody can help me out as I really do not want to take it in to the shop for like an o2 sensor or something. thanks :help: :help: :help:

With money in mind I still say go with pioneer...IF I know people with alpine and for the money you can not tell that much difference. Besides my pioneer deck and speakers in my camaro are 10 years old and sound great still. I have to admit I did put infinity tweets in there so that does help but none the less I still get compliments on my system. So I am sticking with what works and lasts. I am partial since I only usually use pioneer. Venge I dont understand how you can say pioneer does not hold up mine have lasted years with absolutely no problems.
-
Yeah you can not trust what the belt looks like or even how it flexes it is all about the ribs and what condition they are in. My timing belt looked brand new when I changed it, I held it up to the new one and could not tell a difference. But my truck had 118,000 miles on her so the t-belt probably would have snapped soon.
-
I am not totally sure what will work with bose. If you are going to replace the deck and speakers then my vote is go with Pioneer all the way around. I replaced all the systems in all of my vehicles with pioneer (could not do it to the 2004 chevy as the alarm is wired into the radio P>O>S but that is another post!) anyway I have never had any trouble with pioneer. The 6x9 speakers kick a$$ good all-around sound which is what I look for these days.

I was thinking the same thing too deisel for sure. But unless you actually brew your bio-deisel your still going to be gouged up the rear. Today I say deisel at $3.31/gallon that is ridiculous!!!. Gas was only at 2.98!!! what gives? I thought deisel was less refined than gasoline? And I support the effort to piss on mobil execs or any oil industry execs for that matter. I now have to commute 120 miles a day for work and it sucks. I am driving my wifes honda accord which is good on gas but still I am having to put like 40 bucks in every 3-4 days. Besides I was hoping to sell the accord and get another pathfinder... life really sucks sometimes. I have noticed our here there are alot of big v-8 trucks for sale relatively cheap.

UPDATE: FIXED!**NEW VIDEO** Starting problem
zonianbrat replied to ninoj's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
So is it fixed ninoj? -
Sorry my fault.
-
Well personally I think you will be ok but you might be alittle slower than everybody else. Supposedly you can tow up too 5,000 pounds although I would not. Your pathy has a tranny cooler so you should be ok there. I have never been to maryland before so I do not know what the terrain is like. ARe you going to be going up alot of hills? All in all I think you should be fine just take it easy.
-
Dang.....Double dang a year without an oil change? I have heard of amsoil but I have never heard that you can go 25-35 thousand miles that is nuts. I can see that maybe for an older person who only drives to the store and back. I just started using castrol syntec blend I have heard good and bad about synthetic so I figured I would go halfway with the blend. So far so good no leaks and I too plan on changing it every 5k if I am driving around the city and highway but 3k if I take her wheelin.

Thanks for the link cvearl!! that is a pretty cool site.
-
Compare the prices you find with the ones at www.courtesyparts.com. I would just post a link for you but unfortunately I do not know how. I just changed my t-belt,water pump, all drive belts plugs oil etc and I got all my parts from the above website and I got a screaming deal compared to what the stealership wanted to charge me for the parts. Great service too!!
-
Oh your right it was for stainless. I should do more research before I blurt out. sorry. Oh vengeful did you need your whole system replaced or did you just go with a bigger diameter pipe and muffler for simply better exhaust?
-
Very cool thank you.
