I believe everything on the top is the same between the 2... Ask Slick about the auto trans pilot converter from the back of the crankshaft I dont know if your new motor has the 4wd waterpump, But while your in there, have some fun, Timing Belt, waterpump and t-stat.... Also while the donor motor is out you can swap out the exhaust studs... Much easier to work on when its out...

About to order parts, and need suggestions.

IMO, based on the # of belts that have been eaten, that needs to be the 1st thing you do... Water Pump and T-Stat too..... Then I would try shopping around for a rear axel to swap, then the SL... once you have the SL in and it aligned, then you can play with Tires and Wheels, even adding in a LP center link.... And dont for get about some additional Skids....(dam I still need to get mine) Just my .02 -
to Phil and L&P to Giancarlo for being the person that he is and for sharing with us...

Someone will scream "SEARCH" And Ill ask.... How many miles on your Pathy and when was the Timing Belt last changed???? I spent about 2k on upgrades and blew my $30 belt after 20 miles..... Calmini... I like it, other dont, i would highly recomend having some Grease Zerks installed in the UCA's prior to install... Brakes.... The one thing I will still pay someone to do.... Converting the Rear to disk can be done.... I have been looking at just swapping the whole rear axel... Make sure you get the same gearing as you currently have.... -
ok, just so we are all close to the same page... Your 92 is a Manual 5speed??? Donor motor is coming from what???
-
Auto or Manual??? Auto should come out np with the Torque Convert disconnected at the flywheel... Manual... you get to drop the front Axel

*Weeps in Silence... You are getting a WD21 now correct???

2wd and 4wd water pumps are different as well.... Oil pumps, the 4wd will have the tapped whole on the bottom for the timing belt cover, 2wd does not.... May have to use the 2wd timing cover stuff... 2wd should also have the timing mark and the 4wd doesnt, atleast none of my 4wd stuff had it... My 91's engine came from a 2wd, I stripped it down to the block and heads, cam and crank sprockets are the rounded ones vs the square from the 91, 2wd timing cover and water pump... intake up is original 91 stuff as well as the flywheel(had to repull the motor because the jdm did not match up with the starter... may have to pull it again rear main leaks after replacing it twice.... Pretty easy swap over... we are here to help if you hit a brick wall

The Calmini with 31x10.5R15 and 4"bs 15x8... I would not think that there would be any rubbing issues... Maybe some at full flex.... The only time I rub is when flexing on 33's... Whos got the Calmini SL running 31's???

The biggest thing I miss about a Manual Transmission is: Down Hill Decent control with out touching the brakes.... Even in 4 low and 1st gear you may have to ride the breaks a bit.... With a manual just leave it in 1st gear 2wd and the engine will do 90+% of the breaking... During this past hunting season 90% of the time I was in 4wd was to go down hill... Hmmm... do I need a 4th Pathfinder????

Shifting with no clutch Freaked the living $hit out of both of the daughters.... but a needed skill... rolling down a gentle sloping dirt road is best for practicing that imo... Then you can turn around and do the no roll backwards with the clutch  I was not allowed to drive it forward until I could back it the rest of the way up the driveway without rolling forward, no ebrake was allowed either.... About 6 months after all of this the clutch blew when my dad was driving.... I had to replace it by myself.... 1982 Ford Escort... A week later the throw out bearing went on the F250 I also had to replace that clutch alone.... The 3rd and 4th clutch I replaced were on my 85 RX7.....

I have my old T-Bars from my 91 taking space in my garage..... FREE.....

hehe... Find a BIG open field.... Lock it into 4 low... and let him dump the cluch a few times it will give him the feel for it. If no fields are available dirt logging road... Relateability is very important, and not having any to worry about hitting other items is required. Reverse is more forgiving than 1st, after dumping the clutch a few times in the field he should be able to stop and go back wards np... Logging roads work wonderfully for stop and go with not alot of pressure(he wants to be ) No matter what or how he does laugh with him, not at him... have some verbal flash backs... Man I remember the first time I did that type of stuff....
