  1. If you want to know any more you can go to your dealership and ask a service manager if he could print out your vehicle history report. You just give your VIN and they can show you warranty stuff, options, date of manufacture (mm/dd/yyyy) etc. I learned a LOT about my Pathfinder when I did that.
  2. I should have been more clear, my uncle USED to work for Bridgestone, then Michelin, then Yokohama. Now he is with a budget tire maker, and concertrates on China operations. When I last saw him and told him I needed new tires, it killed us because he left Yokohama 3 weeks before! I could have gotten free Geolandars! :o Tecciball, if I don't sell the car I'm getting either Destination A/Ts, Geolandar AT IIs or H/TS's. I don't offroad so...
  3. Are you talking about side steps? SE models have always had them, and they are good for preventing accidents like what you described, and also keep mud and debris from dinging up the rockers. LE models had wussy running boards. Sliders>Side Steps>Nothing>Running Boards
  4. I have that size on my Pathfinder now stock. I'm 99.99% sure you can run 265/70-16 stock. Tmorgan4 has 265/75-16 worn BFG ATs on his stock SE wheels, but I don't remember if he has a lift or not.
  5. Absolutely agree with that, but since the 1999.5+ has plastic bumpers, I was under the impression that you cannot Rhinoline plastic? Am I wrong on that?
  6. And thank you for stickying my thread...hopefully it will be an informative addition to the other one...lots of great info.
  7. Not even close to redline, but I had a loose belt that squealed so loud the whole town could hear it. So to stop the squealing I had to stomp the gas so the belt would catch. Don't worry, I got it fixed! When the motor is cold I don't go above 3k...I know better
  8. No, actually I didn't. It was going to be a Christmas gift; I had it all ordered and then Mom (who was buying the stuff) got paranoid because my MAF went out and pretty much starved my engine for oil. We thought the engine was going to go, and if it did Dad wasn't sure if he wanted to sell it with a bad engine or what. So I got a nice new Canon SD500 Digital ELPH camera instead. As it turns out, the VG33 is pretty strong. The engine burns oil when revved high when cold, i.e. rev it to redline on a cold start and you will get smoke and I think it consumes a few quarts between changes but nothing urgent. A replacement motor is in the future. When I started it up this morning I could hear the lifters, not a good sign, so I'll check the oil. But, my suspension is blown and my tires are almost worn out, so I'll ask Dad what he wants to do with it since it's his money. I'm a lucky son and I only pay for gas. Hell, he bought the damn thing!
  9. Cool...I'll be up there for Indy 500. I won't make it in, but I'll be passed out somewhere with my friends!
  10. Ehh, good call, but two reasons: 1. I needed to get started on my group project in Microsoft Access for my summer classes. 2. I have posted the link several times. I normally post it and I will now...I shall edit this post with the link. Edit: The thread that should be stickied or merged with the other one...*cough*
  11. Adding to that, not only a good set of all-terrains, but if you have the stock 15x6 chrome steelies I would swap those out, at least with the 15x8s on the SE or some newer Pathfinder wheels, or go aftermarket. Then you can move up to a 31" tire or if you have 16"s, you can at least do a 255/70-16.
  12. There are actually tires on trucks with the Remington name, or at least I have seen them in the Southeast a good bit. My uncle is in the tire biz as an executive for Yokohama. He said that there are only a few companies, e.g. GM owns Buick, Chevy, Saturn, etc. instead of them being independently owned. For example, the "National" brand tires on my rig are actually made by Yokohama. Michelin makes the Liberatior for Wal-Mart. To answer the original question, I have no experience with their tires. I have seen them as an inexpensive light truck tire. Friends have had great experiences with Kelly tires, another inexpensive tire you should try out.
  13. Basically, even though you changed the tranny fluid now, it's still on its last legs, i.e. too little too late. Nothing you can do really to prolong the life of it, maybe try one of those Lucas products but I personally think they are snake oil. About the neutral drops, you got it! Edit: About the neutral drops, don't take my advice. It's just asking to kill a driveshaft and a diff and whatever else along the way. Don't do it and I don't want to be responsible if you do!
  14. Mine was a 1996 too, Forest Green Laredo over Tan cloth, I actually miss the thing! As far as quickening it's demise, I would say a few neutral drops would do! Normally I would frown on this behavior but in this case maybe not! Or you could put some wrong fluid in the tranny but the shop may be able to detect that. Or just stomp on it when it's hesitating to shift. Makes me sick about destroying something but not a bad call for the situation.
  15. Funny, my ZJ Grand Cherokee did that too, but on the 1st to 2nd shift in the mornings, i.e. cold. That is the beginning of a failing auto tranny. You did the right thing by having the fluid changed, but it will crap out. Make sure that it is noted by mechanics that the tranny is on it's way out, and check your warranty clauses, because aftermarket warranty companies are up there on the slime charts...they will do anything to not pay a claim.
  16. No, just a girl... But you are redeemed for having good taste in wheels, restoring you "man" status.
  17. Most Ebay kits won't fit properly...plenty of horror stories there, and good luck finding matching wood trim.
  18. 4 MPG gain is bull@!*%, sorry. Try 1 MPG if you can keep your foot out of it. You should be doing this mod for the sound and the power. Since you have the VQ35, wise choice. I naturally stay away from K&N. Try Weapon-R and HKS. Doubt AEM makes an intake. The sock is a good idea, and don't worry about water, just don't drive in a lake, haha. Remember, the intake will lose HP and TQ if not properly insulated from engine heat. If the kit does not include a heatshield you will have to fab one up.
  19. I would get OEM Nissan strut mounts, OME suspension with the rear OME shocks, KYB struts off of www.tirerack.com Do a search...I started a huge thread about the same topic and got great advice.
  20. I think I remember somebody wiring their 96-99 corner lamps to act as turn signals...shouldn't be THAT hard anyways...
  21. Do a search for Dave Burnette at a dealer in Austin...I can't remember which one...I know I posted it in the Garage... For bushings, always Google that stuff and see if companies like Energy Suspension make them... For cats, I do Magnaflow, or just hollow them out and run O2 simulators.
  22. Weird, no idea... I wonder if it's the MAF or related to the MAF. I know a new one is around $500!!!
  23. Glad to see you are sticking with the Pathfinder, at least for now. Great looking exhaust, I'm a bit jealous!
  24. I voted QX4 and I have a Pathfinder... I would love to put those tails on mine...but I'm 99% sure I need a different wiring harness, and I don't want to mess with that. Do the QX4 tails have backing up lights? I know the 2001's are next to the license plate.
