  1. 1996-1999 had small, rectangular fogs in the middle of the bumper. 1999.5-2004 had integrated fogs in the lower corners of the bumper. Completely different, and a big deal. Take that, WD driver!
  2. Hmmm...do you know anyone who can weld? I know POR-15 stops it for the time being...I would search the Internet for tips on how to do that stuff as a temporary stop while you find a welder.
  3. I <3 my carrier, haha. I would be very impressed if Kennesaw Mountain Accessories could fab up a carrier for an R50. I'm still very dubious about the rear fram supporting the weight of a tire and carrier.
  4. I have the 1996 Service Manual saved on my hard drive...don't know how to host it though...if anyone knows that's cool.
  5. Very nice! I've always been curious about these cams, just haven't had a good enough reason to have a mechanc tear down the engine yet! Are these the mild or the more "extreme" cams? How much are they going to affect your idle? Will you lose some low-end? Gas mileage? Are you replacing anything while you're in there? Are these re-grinds? I'm very curious, and look forward to your writeup when you get 'em in! Nice job!
  6. Vengeful and me come straight to mind, I'm sure there are more! Welcome to the boards!
  7. Mine can fit 2 and a half dead hookers in the back, with the cargo cover pulled over! That's why R50s are better!
  8. HAHA! My friends called mine the "Assfinder", because we're in college and, you know... I love it, but not sure how soccer moms, etc. would react to "ASSFINDER" on the side of mine.
  9. Hmmm...I don't remember where the PDF R50 service manual went... My Pathfinder doesn't have this problem, but my Jeep's sway bar links were toast...it would make the same sound when hitting a pothole or over a speed bump. If you are suggesting that you should remove your rear sway bar permanently, I would suggest otherwise!
  10. One thing that you must consider is how strong the rear "frame" is. I know that the 3rd gen Toyota 4Runners really can't have a steel bumper with a tire carrier because the stress would be too much on the rear section of the frame. Just not sure how that would work on a monoframe Pathfinder. Most of the load with my carrier is placed on the passenger rear quarter panel, not the rear frame.
  11. Wait, are you talking about the carrier that is on my Pathfinder? Funny thing is that I'm not far from them at all!
  12. Welcome! I'm presuming it's 2wd? You can't really go wrong paying only $750 though! Give more details and post up pics!
  13. You're just stuck in the middle...I'm here for nine months of the year with all of the beautiful IU women! :o
  14. Remember I'm from Georgia not Montana (MT)
  15. Hey now! I'm just talking about all these Cali/Oregon/WA people we have! Us to the right of the river and below the Mason-Dixon line get no respect! The South will rise again! J/K
  16. Wow! Respect to you for your service! Now we have you and the Navy guy! I can understand now why you want a bit of light armor! I would think about a bit of light armor for the bumpers, but read the thread in Off Topic (OT) about a possible ban on brush guards in the state of New York, not sure if that's your state. Don't know if it will happen, but certainly something to consider. As for the tires, you can be like me and wait for the all-seasons that previous owner put on to wear out or you can get a nice, decently aggressive AT set of tires good for dirt, snow, rain, and dry. Ditch the 255/65-16 size and upgrade to either 245/75, 255/70 (which is what I have now), or 265/70. My tires only rub a tiny, tiny bit when reversing at full lock on an off-camber hill like a steep driveway, nothing to worry about. The subject has been covered before, feel free to run a search on what will fit. I say the latter two sizes I listed. For tire shopping, go to: The Tire Rack If I had $$$ and wanted great looks, I would go for the BFG AT. If I had some $$$ and wanted great quality, I would go for the Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT (excellent choice) If I had not enough for Revos I would buy either the Yokohama Geolandar ATII or the Firestone Destination AT. Both are fantastic tires, we had Destinations on our Jeep and loved 'em. Skids are just for off-roading; if you do none of this don't worry about skids. I would however address your suspension with either an AC lift or an OME lift. I prefer the OME lift but everyone has an opinion. Search for a suspension lift thread here. I started a poll about it this past December and got excellent answers. Unfortunately I had to get a camera instead. Good luck and keep asking questions!
  17. Welcome! Another Southerner to fight off the Left Coast!
  18. I do agree with that. rmd- I don't know your intentions with the truck; I want mine not to be a hardcore off-roader but more of a compromise between grocery-getter and moderate trail wheeler. If you are like me, you should start out with skids (at least replace the factory splash guard, mine is half ripped off), AT or MT tires, and a mild lift, either AC or OME. Then you can start adding body protection. Brush guards, winch bumpers, etc. look retarded on stock height, all-season tire rigs.
  19. Front Montana plate (came off a Montana car) because I live in Livingston, MT in the summers. It's there for show and to remind me of how beautiful the place is! rmd- As far as brushguards go, I personally don't like them very much because they look tough but are not. Don't go thinking your front end is invincible; brush guards can actually cause more damage in a light collision than without one. I would prefer you to put on an ARB bumper, but those are $$$. If you must, the best looking brush guard IMHO is the accesory Nissan one. I HATE rear guards, I think it looks terrible, plus nothing says mall-crawler like that. Do you honestly think that an off-roader would have one? Save the $$$ you would spend on front, rear, and taillight guards and just get an ARB. Bottom link is a Pathfinder that is Sierra Silver just like ours and has an unpainted black ARB, and a little lift. abomb1 has the Manik guard: abomb1 Halfway down and to the left is my favorite Pathfinder, belonging to Marc. He has the ARB bumper (hope he doesn't mind): Marc's Pathfinder
  20. It's a 7" rim. Go with a 255 or a 265, nothing else. It will look ridiculous. EDIT: I can see a 245/75 in your future. I understand that you have a lot of snow where you are, but are you sure that a good AT or MT 245/75 wouldn't be a good choice? A 215/85 would work fine, Land Rovers run that size with 7" rims, but just curious as to what you want with this size.
  21. I like your color! You and me have identical Pathfinders, except you have the 3.5  Here's mine: Welcome!
  22. Just to let the Pathfinder community know this, we are also a Maxima owner. On www.maxima.org, there is a member named Dave Burnette. Dave works at South Point Nissan in Austin, TX as a parts man. He is second to none in Nissan knowledge and is one of the nicest people you will deal with. He is a legend on the Maxima community, everyone orders from him and everyone has been more than satisfied. He has the LOWEST prices! Maxima Forums If you need any OE Nissan parts, call Dave Burnette at (888) 254-6060.
  23. Tmorgan, please please please call up my parts guy Dave Burnette. He knows EVERYTHING about Nissans, and was very informative in my search for a good clutch. He told me that Exedy is just a packaging corportation, i.e. they take Brand X or whatever, package it, and sell it to you as an Exedy clutch. Dave B. can tell you more about this than I can.
  24. That's exactly what I'm saying. Maybe I should have clarified: Bosch= European NGK, Denso=Asian Champion, Autolite=American I'm sure there are some companies I left out, but that's the basic rule of thumb. My Bosch platinums self-destructed in my Jeep, but the NGKs do great in every Nissan.
