  1. Mine has been great but I would try to pony up for a 2001. The 1999.5 and 2000 are identical. It may have been wheeled, you don't want an abused truck. However, I prefer manual over the auto hubs. Just IMHO. Nothing crazy, and they have fewer flaws than the WD21. There really is not R50 trouble spot. The auto trannys are fine, pretty stout. I have a manual, but I would probably put a tranny cooler on the auto, but it's not like on the WD21 where the tranny will grenade with the stock cooler.
  2. You have a switch? Are you in Canada or something? Weird. I have no idea of what the problem is, but with complex stuff like this stuff breaks.
  3. Don't cover up the hole...just a warning. Get a dipstick ASAP!
  4. XPLOR, I believe the factory Bose system utilizes an individal amp per speaker on the front doors, and a single amp powering the two rear speakers. Most of the time when new speakers are installed new wires are installed as well. I have a low-end Pioneer HU, and kept my Bose speakers because I have no money. My situation is not optimal. And XPLOR, I wouldn't recommend that you keep the factory Bose HU. It's actually a Clarion BTW. Decent HUs aren't more than $200-250 if you shop around on the internet. If you are wanting a double-DIN HU, I don''t know of any other than low-end CD/Cassette combos, as well as the Pioneer touchscreen nav. systems. I'm sure there are more...I still think your needs would be serviced with an XM-ready and iPod ready HU. Mess around on ebay looking for the brands mentioned earlier.
  5. How hot does a car interior get when sitting out in the sun? A hell of a lot hotter than the ambient temperature. Tinted moonroof is different than tinted windows, I have 15% tint on my windows. Think about it: I was going to pay the tint shop to tint my moonroof, and they declined. Shouldn't they want my business? They said that they've had several instances of it happening. Maybe not every car, but enough to make a difference.
  6. Yeah, I was thinking used Nak or used McIntosh. But Eclipse has gone downhill in the past year or two as well...didn't Clarion or somebody buy them? I can't remember. As far as speakers, the Infinitys are great, but maybe if you can find some Alpine Type R's. Went out of production a while ago but I still see them crop up. Not sure if they fit the R50 or not though...
  7. I have round ones on my R50 and LOVE 'EM! The PO put them on; when I first bought the truck I immediately thought "I'm taking these things off first thing" but after driving with them they are invaluable.
  8. Exactly. This was in S. GA, read *EXTREME HEAT*. Do at your own risk but it was enough to keep me away.
  9. I would do Alpine or find a used Nak on Ebay. McIntosh if you've got $$$ to burn. While Infinity is a good brand, try CDTs. Great speakers, and I think the two-ways are $99 as well. Alpine amp all the way. I have an Alpine V12 amp and LOVE IT!
  10. :rofl I love IT! VatoZone!
  11. Bad idea. The tint shop said they don't tint moonroofs because they will literally explode in the heat. I wanted mine tinted too but no dice.
  12. Bwahaha I'm looking at Heeps and Land Rovers to replace mine! -alcohol-
  13. They definitely do rust frame first, it sucks. You'll see 4Runners with the body completely rotted but no frame holes!
  14. I'd guess thats too much camber...but tire wear is more complicated than you may think. Maybe an alignment would help, and tell you what's out of spec?
  15. Ahh, didn't read that it was a TSL. With a mud tire I wouldn't doubt siping would improve certain aspects. For some reason I was thinking you wanted to sipe regular all-terrains or something.
  16. Not worth it. Just get a good tire.
  17. Pretty sure all cars do that...I think it's an emissions thing or something like that. It should settle down after about 15 seconds or so.
  18. Just want to echo what has been said about the filters. There's a reason why I just drop in a new Nissan filter every 15k.
  19. I've always read glowing reviews of Techron, and aside from what the liability-conscious Nissan engineers state, nobody has had trouble caused by Techron fuel cleaner. If you had $$$ to burn, you could actually run your engine off of solely Techron. I haven't Seafoamed my engine yet because I'm not sure if I need to replace it or not.
  20. I love it! My first car, well, truck, was a 2003 Canteen Xterra. I was torn between Canteen and Granite. Either way, great truck. The old 15" wheels look so much better than the factory wheels too. Round headlights > Square headlights.
  21. I'm calling BS on Nissan for saying that if they're talking about injector cleaners. Chevron Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner is a fantastic product.
  22. Cool thread! "Higher Love" by Steve Winwood. August 27, 1986
