If you did it again, what would you do?
OldSlowReliable replied to BonnerBB's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
SL does help you avoid High Center-ing, vs a BL which doesn't :-) -
murphy's law!
-
Pretty sure you need a 4x4 tranny to replace it, but i'm not certain
-
2" BL, and you can do it with a weekend and some basic hand tools It will def help to have a buddy to help with some of the more complicated tasks (lining up rear captive bolts and such) and if you have access to another vehicle, its a DREAM, Idk what I woulda done without my DD car, cause I had to make a few trips out to the parts stores and hardware store (to buy grinder, and radiator hose for 3" lift)

im getiing around 208 and 215 miles
OldSlowReliable replied to ac92pathfinder's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
My ma swears I have a 16 gallon tank, but I think its a the larger 20 somethin gallon cause I use just over a 1/4 tank of 6 gallons of gas (and get 140 miles outta that!) but she swears it has a faulty gas gauge... All I know, is that i usually get under or around 280 when the gauge starts to show around 1/4 left, and it usually sucks gas city, but gets great mileage going 55+ Unless you run it until it runs out of gas, you really can't know what your getting 200 out of, if you have a 16 gallon tank, and your actually filling it up when it has a 1/4 tank, 200 seems about right You could also have a faulty gas gauge -
Are you guys allowed to have 3" bl's down there? Cause if your just looking for a 2", I'd go for doin it yourself considering how little junk you gotta mess with for a 2" And idk if your looking for wider FENDERS or for wider FLARES, but 4x4parts.com has 'prerunner' flares that bulge an extra 4" out and I believe give more tire clearance, dunno bout shipping
-
aren't the JGC v8 springs stiffer than stock? So couldn't you cut some links off and have a stiffer ride?
-
Or have someone sit in it, dunno if they have window sensors O_O

Hit it with a rubber mallet? No ding!

I actually just went through and got quotes for transmissions, and I think the MOST expensive was 800 for an auto with 59k on it Plus, If you feel up to doing the swap yourself, it will save even more $$ They told me my transmission was junk 3 years ago and that it was a matter of months before I would need a new one, I was quoted 1800-2500 depending on what I chose to do, and haven't done it yet. (the repairs they would do would be replacing the entire transmission anyways, so I figured why replace it completely before its completely dead)
-
Personally, Ive seen both of these methods before, and I think i'll just stick with my $10.50 per tire walmart mounting, and if they can't get it perfect they give me price cuts, usually for some reason or another I can get atleast one tire for like 5 bucks

Replacing the Timing Belt & Adding an AT Cooler
OldSlowReliable replied to DoctorBill's topic in How-To's
in that pic, his radiator is out cause hes doing his timing belt, its really in between the A/C radiator and the Cooling System radiator -
likewise, on dune trips it feels like my leg is on fire...uhoh! I just figured it was the tranny getting warm, cause the tcase shifter was hot as well!
-
Check out sporting goods stores, I recently saw a yakima load warrior and mega warrior for 50% off each one....if I had a roof rack I would have snatched em up that instant!
-
again, I realize that I did post there (although it was deleted) but I don't understand the previous post. Back on topic.....problem solved
-
No I didn't forget, but I don't understand your reference.
-
wait what?
-
Well, it seems that it won't happen if the truck is turned on right when i wake up, but if i drive it round, and then try it, it DOES do it... I dunno, its probably just something rattling, didn't QUITE sound like it was the tranny or drivetrain now..
-
But if I did it myself AT HOME vs AT GARAGE, it would be even cheaper.....the only reason I would take it to one of these DIY places would be if the project specifically required a tool I didn't have to make it EASIER, not to do something entirely that I couldn't do otherwise...

About the CAI, I think i remember hearing about the little hose that usually plugs into the air channel not being put on some CAI's, and this causing issues
-
They sell an entire kit that has everything you need, gaskets, pumps, belts.......

Air Conditioner System - Check w/o Shop ?
OldSlowReliable replied to DoctorBill's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Thats what I was gonna suggest, but then I remembered those are like 30 bucks or more, so if he doesn't need it that's 30 bucks he didn't need to spend..... -
I should also add that it has been 'kicking' into gear for a while now, you put the shifter into D or R and it takes a sec, then lurches a bit and you feel it engage.....this has happened on the trail a few times and giving me a false 'go' resulting in me gassing it and hearing a big CLUNK of it starting to put power to the wheels
-
Already checked it, cause it kinda sounded like when the drain pipe for the radiator was hitting the fan after my BL, but I checked it out, and didn't really think that would happen ONLY in reverse and slightly in N
-
I just kinda lifted up the front, took da cap off, started it up, waited for it to go down, and kept filling it up...took the full container of coolant, and matched pretty much what I took out, little more cause I lost some to spillage while removing lower hose.....
