  1. I gave the old girls some shine yesterday. Cleaned/vacuumed the interior, then washed/waxed the exterior. Today, I hope to buy a new can of PB Blaster too start hosing down the bolts that are due to be broke loose in about a week.
  2. Was your last CL stock slickers? Is the new one staying stock? I haven't even put a lift on yet, and I'm considering ripping the front end apart just too send my CL off to grassroots4x4.
  3. I made her jealous by slinking off and test driving another Pathy. (I couldn't help it, the low miles and a 5 speed....maybe monogamy isn't for me!) She cheered up when the other pathy was a year older with a dented rear end. She is rather pleased that we sold the VW off into 150 mile/day commuting hell slavery, and used the winnings to order Superlift UCA's, Rancho RS5000's, 3" lift coils, hella 500's, a tranny cooler, oil relocation kit, and an idler arm brace. Of course she's never satisfied. She's already started asking me about new shoes...
  4. If your single, you can buy all this stuff yourself...
  5. I don't need an expensive scanner to check the codes on my pathy. Compared to needing access to a VAG-COM to check the codes on my VW, I prefer the Nissan system.
  6. Seems likely, that was wd-40's intended purpose, dispersing water and whatnot.
  7. Well you have to admit, they do that really well. I wouldn't purchase many other brands with 193K on the odometer.
  8. Yeah I'm leaving them in for now. I'll fill 'er up and see if the fuel gauge changes at all. Could very well be the sending unit. The tach was at 0, but after driving to work today it sat at 3K for the rest of the trip. At least it's not bouncing all over the place? Time will tell I suppose. Will have to rip into it more once I'm done with this acursed move.
  9. So - I bought my 95, and it came with a fuel gauge that wasn't reading correctly, and a tachometer that was bouncing all over the place. B was kind enough to send me replacement units from his parts truck. I just got them installed today. Which leads me to this: No results from the fuel gauge, and the tach sits dead still, instead of bouncing all over the place. All the connections are tight. No fuses are blown. I've noticed some holes in rear of the assembly that have no screws? Also the back plastic with the solder connections isn't flat, could it have warped and severed some connections? I've heard about the voltage regulator going out, but much like B, I'm not that friendly with electrons.
  10. Nice work on the frontend swap, I've contemplated doing the same to my gti, but haven't been able to find a jetta front end cheaply enough. The past couple years I've been spending more working on bicycles. I've been restoring old ones and flipping them to fuel my habit. I just rebuilt this 1984 Motobecane a few months ago. Its my road bike/summer commuter. I built my cargo bike last summer. And I'm currently gathering parts for this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBh4TnUYnwo&feature=PlayList&p=A6F961D5DFA044C4&playnext_from=PL&index=0&playnext=1 Of course once I find another pathfinder all that might get de-railed.
  11. My '87 had 267,000ish on it when I sold it a few years ago. I miss that beast. Was reliable as all get out, even with nearly 300K on the clock.
  12. I might add that silicone does start looking rather nasty after its been on a roof for a few years I scraped all the crap off and replaced with new before I sold my truck though. *sigh* all this talk about lights is making me 4x4 sick.....hmmmm, wonder what a light bar would look like on a VW sssh
  13. My Pathy (back when I had her) just had a hole drilled through near the rise on the roof, near the passenger side door. Was only sealed with silicone, not pretty but effective. MUCH more effective than the 20 year old sunroof seals lol.
  14. General site design looks pretty good Jay. But I have to ask, did you get permission to use everyones pictures? All the pathy pics you have on the site or in the roatating header seem to have been plucked straight from NPORA.
  15. Man you go through vehicles like I go through beer Congrats on the purchase though, Tacomas are sweet!
  16. I'm not a pro installer or anything, but I'd re-doublecheck all your connections/wiring diagram. And if all else fails, could it be a defective HU?
  17. My passenger side front turn signal hasn't been working lately, so I pulled it apart just now to try and see if it was the bulb. It wasn't. Anywho the bulb looks fine, but its base is very corroded, as is the socket in the turn signal itself. I'll just buy a new bulb, but whats the best way to clean out the socket? I'll try and pick up a battery brush, but should I use any chemicals or anything with it?
  18. I'm guessing he used a relay, at least when you google the lights he bought the descriptions include a relay in the parts list
  19. My guess would be somethings effed up in the wiring. I'd double check all your wiring/connections/grounds, etc as it sounds like everythings working, but once power gets all the way back to the lights it shorts out somwhere, blowing the fuse. I tried to find a picture of the wiring harness for these things but couldn't. Just going over it in my mind on how you would hook that up. I'm assuming there is a relay involved somewhere. How many/what connections are on the back of the switch?
  20. I've seen some people on the board have fabbed brackets to move the plate onto the tire carrier itself. Might be an idea. But then again, is this valid? Nissan designed these trucks that way, and issued a 31 as standard equipment, seems like maybe the cop was just trying to meet his quota or something.
  21. I used to run a set of backup lights I found on e-bay. Came with a nifty set of brackets to mount them on a standard hitch. Wired them up with a relay and they worked fine, probably still are, wherever my old GMC truck is. Cost less than $50 if IIRC.
  22. That would be it, if I can get a decent enough pic with my cell phone I'll post it. Although the PO had some metal plates made to mount the larger KC's, they move the mounting point behind the light bar itself to place the larger lamp.
