Ther have been 2 main fire issues with the WDs; this one, and one caused by the carpet under the gas pedal getting set alite by the hot exhaust via a rust hole.

Does it move back when you let go? If so, it is probably all tire sidewall movement.

Oh, those of us that actually leave pavement would much rather have a Patrol than an Armada on the dealer's lot for us to buy. But as you pointed out we lack the ability to have them so we have to base opinion on the options we do have. Alas the only Patrols we have are late 60s models. We also don't have Terrano IIs, or Xtrails available to compare either.

If you had it at #1 TDC before taking it apart and didn't move anything while it was apart then the pully's marks should line up somewhere close to the pointer.

Sorry but, the anti-sway being bad won't help or hurt that situation. I have no sway, and I have no movement like that. It's either the trailing arm bushings, pan hard or it's bushings, or frame failure.

For driving, my Pathfinders are perfectly comfortable, I can't stand "plush" seats, I actually think they hurt after about 5 minutes. For "aerodynamics" meh, mine ride well as long as there isn't a 30mph+ crosswind, never had an issue with a 18 wheeler (they make good draft partners if you run a CB though ). I'd take my Path to Florida again, but I wouldn't run it "non-stop" (asside from gas) again, not from ride comfort, but eye strain. Not saying the WDs are road warriors, but they're not bad at all for cruisin anywhere (better than a lot of cars I've rode in).

Yeah, I wouldn't expect anything good said about it, 05+ ones are more useless than a H2 offroad. Best offroader Nissan makes in the 05+ lineup in my opinion is the Frontier. As with the previous model Xterra they made "improvements" and it's still a failure. It's still suffers all the downfalls of the older ones (too tall, bad weight distribution, leaf rear....), only real improvement is the available factory locker. You can get everything for the Xterra on a Frontier and have a much more stable vehicle with it.

I know the dealer sells replacement front floor pans (or used to). They actually had a TSB for replacing one. They might be able to get rears also. I just used new sheet stock when I repaired mine.

People just don't realize that brake fluid goes bad.

A couple other usual suspects for squeaks are the compression rods and the bolts on the front crossmember needing retorqued.

I was talking to a friend who is a Nissan whore and he was saying they made some of the 2drs as "cargo/delivery" trucks that had no rear seats. I'm curious what they had in place of the rear seats. Has anyone come across one of these, and if so what do you know?

Why I unplugged my sensor in the latch. I tried 3 different "fixes"; wrap tape over hoop to make thicker, insetr washers under hoop, beat (slight tap) with a hammer on the loop to bent into sensor. They all worked, for about 6 months (or less). I don't need my footwell lights comming on when I open the hatch anyway.

Yeah, most of those shelters aren't designed for a snow load. I looked into one for my wife's car that we store under the carport in the winter. Hell, I get jittery about my carport if we get over 6", as it starts to kinda bow in the middle. Has yet to give out at all, but if it would it would destroy my wife's VW.

Longest trip my 93 has been on was from here in Central Ohio to Southern Florida, 18 hrs drive time each way. On top of that I went wheeling in KY on my way down to FL which added another 6 hrs on the way down (forget all the milages). I take a 5-9 hr (depending on location) drive to go wheeling about every 3 months, and both my Pathfinders get to play like that. Remember, 3000 miles might sound like a long trip, but look at it this way it is just an oil change interval. How many people are afraid their car won't last till the next oil change?
