Frames?

So I know the WD21 up through 95 was a separate body/frame design and in 96, with the R50, they went to a frameless design. Did any of the later years go back to using a frame? I was at a local dealership looking at one of the new pathys and the salesman was telling me that they just switched to the unibody construction. I was gonna call BS but I just smiled and acted like I didn't know anything about cars at all (just testing to see how honest the salesman was and if I wanted to deal with him further)

The WD21 and R51 are the only models with a frame.

The R50 and current R52 are unibody.

Its easy to tell by taking a peek underneath which trucks have a frame.

Yeah I was hopeful that Nissan was going to honor the Pathfinder legacy when they R51 came out, but sadly (and predictably) it did not last and the Pathfinder is going the way of all good SUV's by falling victim to the creature comfort over versatility crowd.

WD21: We took a pickup truck and made the roof longer.

R50: We call them SUVs now.

R51: Come look at the Armada, leave with this instead! We make big trucks now.

R52: So our head designer drove his sister-in-law's Subaru Outback and really liked it...
