GROUP BUY: Doug Thorley Headers

Good news :)

I was recently in the market for a set of DOUG THORLEY headers THY-424-2-C

I learned from "Steve" at Rugged Rocks that he plans to

place a new order for these Ceramic-coated headers from the

factory by March 19 2012 (his deadline).

The DT factory will deliver the headers by May 4 2012 which can then

be shipped to all clients.

The available header models:

THY-424-2-C_a $469.95

THY-424-2-C_b $469.95

Which I believe stand for SHORT version and LONG version (will double check that with Steve).

If you guys are interested in this Group Buy, the discount pattern will be as follows:

10% for 10 orders

15% for 15 orders

20% for 20+ orders

Trust me, this opportunity will not happen again in the near future.

So if you guys are interested, put your name in the list below and

let us make the best of it (20% off, that's like $375/piece + S&H)

it says it is for trucks with no lift kit.? will they now work with a lift.?

Yes. They will.

My WD21 is already 3"SL+3"BL and they will work. The same

part is available at 4x4Parts. However, they do not have the

CERAMIC coated version but rather the TRIPLE-NICKEL coated

ones which are far inferior to CERAMIC coating.

Go ahead and join the list ;)

My bad. I checked with "Steve" at "Rugged Rocks" and it turned out

that both versions are in fact "SHORTIES":

THY-424-2-C_a $469.95

THY-424-2-C_b $469.95

As a matter of fact, "Shorties" will give more TORQUE at low RPM and

are perfect for Offroad as well as Highway cruising.

So what is the A and B variant? EGR and no EGR?

The "_a" is for the

Nissan Hardbody 3.0L V6 1990-1997

The "_b" is for the

Nissan Pathfinder 3.0L V6 1990-1995

You can specify which one you want. Although I believe all of us on this forum

should be looking for the "_b"

Not necessarily...

Here is Seeeevo's thread. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=31343

Thanks for the heads up though, I have the shorty in nickel chrome and am quite happy with them! :aok:

FYI, to debunk allot of the myths based on the Thorley notes. The notes are wrong. All of them. they fit on all BL and SL pathfinders. In fact, they clear the steering shaft BETTER If you have BL.

LONG TUBES come down to the bottom of the firewall and have TBI emissions ports on the left header

SHORT TUBES only go about half way down and have MPFI emissions ports on the left header.

Hell no. 4runners are @!*%. I would have a 4runner a long time ago if they were better. Thorley makes a fine set of headers. If mine broke, my name would be on that list already.

My next set of headers (for the 'T93') are coming from Mr. 510. I have watched the entire build process and the development of a pathy specific left side header.

I like my Thorleys and Mr. 510's are every bit as good.

They do not have EGR but I'm sure he could very cheaply and easily add that per-request.

x2 Mr.510's headers are another great option if you can't get (or don't want) Thorleys.

Mr.510's headers maybe as good to the Thorleys but surely more expensive.

With this GB the price will drop down to like $375+S&H. How can you beat that!

Anyways, please feel free to contact "Steve" directly by phone/email to place

your order which needs to be done before March 19 2012 to make use of this

  • 3 months later...

Where did you order it from?

William

I spoke to soon. I saw them on Rugged Rocks and placed an order. Got a refund and a call from Steve today explaining the situation. Yet another reason why I shouldn't combine drinking with internet purchases.

Did this ever go through? I called Steve back in February/March and got on his list... he said he had some people, but was waiting for more before making an order.

I'm open to other options - I've been waiting a while and need to replace these headers so I can get my truck past emmissions.
