33x10.5x15 - 34x10.5x15 Tire recommendation..? Input please!

Hello all I'm looking to upgrade to some real meats for my rig!! I am looking for 33-34 inch tall with a 10.5 inch wide tire preferably. I have 15 inch rims... I need a tire that I can drive all year that's not super aggressive so I can drive it on the road and get decent mileage out of them, they also must be good in ice and snow. Not just okay but GOOD in ice and snow. I also want them to be good in the mud and on trails as well. No hardcore sidewall eating rock crawling but just mud pits and trails as that's what is around here. This is not a rock crawler, it's a winter/summer/camping/expedition rig.

I have seen the goodyear duratrac. they look ideal for what I'm looking for but they only come in a 31x10.5 and 33x12.5 as far as I can tell.. I am thinking 12.5 wide would be a little much for the icy roads that frequent my area in the winter... Are there any other tires that are similar to this style?? Best of all worlds it seems?

Thanks for the input!!

For what its worth I have the duratracs in 33x12.5 and they've been pretty good in the snow/ice so far. Though your gas mileage will suck and the truck will have no balls (downshift on every hill if yours is auto).

oh really? well if they are still good in ice then i am okay with that... i am about to fire up my vg33e swap with intake/headers/exhaust/elec fan tomorrow so that should be a noticeable increase in power, enough to run 33s i should hope!

any other options ?? i do like the duratracs tho....

The KM2 is not a good cold weather tire. them being a mud tire means they are extra soft, but that means they get super hard in freezing weather.

if you're looking for something that tall and only 10" wide, your options are limited.

33x10.50R15 BFGoodrich All-Terrain K/O, this is an EXCELLENT tire for all conditions.

Then there are some swamper radials, but I would not recommend them for daily driving.

Remember when I said your options were limited? :)

bfg ATs absolutely rock in the snow. They are so good, I rarely need 4wd, unless I'm trailriding, or the snow is More than 8" deep. I'd personally avoid anything wider that 11.5" (32x11.5s or 33x10.5"s fit great) as there are fitment issues unless you are willing to do some serious fender trimming. ATs tend to clog up with mud, because of their tighter tread blocks, but that is precisely what gives them great sand and snow performance. Siped MTs are probably the best compromise given your requirements. Hankook Dynapro MTs are also highly regarded, but they are only available in 12.5s in a 33"

hmmm okay well I am picking some tires up hopefully tomorrow. i have a 3" body lift and soon to be 3" suspension lift as well as trimmed fenders so room i don't think is an issue. I'll have to make a choice between bfg at and goodyear duratracs it seems as there is no compromise on the ice/snow ability.

Your pretty much asking for the impossible tire, A tire that's "good in the mud" is generally not going to be that good on the road. I don't have any experience with the new BFG MT's but if the old style was still available I would definitely recommend them. Your asking for a tire that is good in various conditions, but still want one that is good as a daily driver. In order to meet what you are after you need to go with an all terrain, hence the name all terrain, good in all terrains but not great really in any specific one of them. The BFG At is a great tire. A buddy of mine has over 60K on a set of 33's and they still look like new.

I ended up finding the duratracs in 33x12.5 for 220 a tire, even cheaper than the cheapest bfg at in my area. i went with them, getting installed on wednesday!! i think they should suite all my needs :) legal winter tire too...snowflake symbol. ill just have to accept that they will be a little fatter :P

ya that was my price including install at fountain tire. Ill stick with fountain as canadian tire wants 238$ per tire, i didnt ask if that included install he just said 238$ per tire and have to wait a week to get them lol. ouch. thats the second most expensive so far. i tried there just to see after u said that since mine werent installed yet and CT is a little closer to me. I just usually don't go there anymore.... lol except for the tool sales!!

and yes.... you are right I did just want the duratracs the whole time..... lol

When I was looking at the duratracs, the CT website said 218 per tire, installation included, balancing extra. Whatever. When I got there, buddy at the counter tries telling me they're 345 a tire!! I said no no no, look on your site, they're listed at 218 each in the 33x12.5 size. Turns out I was right. I only had to wait 1 day I guess they had some in the local warehouse.

Maybe they are more expensive in BC than Ontario. Our winters are a bitch and I've already tried them out on snow/ice covered trails and they're great.

cut off the pinch seam flush on the back of the front fender and then welded the sheet metal together, hammered it down a little further with a torch then undercoated it. the fronts of the fenders were cut when i got the truck.
