Der_Vier
Post 'em up! However, if you don't have anything nice to say about someones tattoo, don't be an @sstroll and run your (figurative) mouth. I'll go first. Have gotten them over the past 4.5 years. Pezzy
Any meanings behind the tatts?
Der_Vier
Stars around the cross are favourite colours of each person in my immediate family, the cross because we are Protestant Christians. The empty star is really just filling empty space. Music notes are because I play the drums (bit rusty since im at school) and like music a good bit. IV is due to me being the fourth namesake (same name as dad, gdad, greatgdad), Chinese are "love" and "dog" due to my love of K9's as well as our dog that passed away this January was a total love bug (all 85lbs of him). Crossed wrenches shoudl be obvious love wrenching on cars, building stuff and the like. The cherry blossom with the 13 I got on friday the 13th for $13 (yes it was a reputable shop, its a promotion they do every friday 13th).
nunya
Any meanings behind the tatts? Should be a "rule"... Post the tat AND why/what it means do scars count? (I'm a pansy when it comes to tats/needles period)
Der_Vier
Good call on the explanation. Scars can count if they were obtained in a \m/ way..like falling off skateboard going down a handrail, or getting hit by a bus, or maybe a chainsaw to the arm...none of this "my older brother scratched me when we were 5" stuff...that doesn't have cahones
Hawzzy
Any meanings behind the tatts? Good call Pezzy...shoould be a given with the tats...the story...if i can get the picture thing to work (im still newish) ill post ours (wifey and I) Hopefully that werks....well i always wanted a Can. flag but all it was a bit of a fad when i was 20 and they were all rectangular business cards...no life to em (the flag that is) so i waited till i was 30 to get the flag over my heart. The names were added later...my son Kieran and my daughter Devynn...we asked the tat artist too script out their names for us and he said if we wrote it (my wife got the same names on her ankle) it would be more personal!! Good point...soooooo...we took it a step further and we brought in the children to write a stencil of their names themselves!!!!! They were around 4 and 6. The guys at the shop just LOVED IT!!!! Couldnt get any more personal unless they did the ink itself eh??????? My wife got the roses for her birthday/mothers day this past year...its her birth flower and there is one there for each of us in our family. tye My next will be a photo realistic speckled trout ( fishing nut here) and my wife wants to get an old school Toronto Maple Leaf (NHL LEAF LOGO) in red with "made in Canada" or some derivitive on her upper back! Hey look at that...i did it with no help YAY!!! Edited November 15, 2010 by Hawzzy
Der_Vier
Nice flowers...i'm a big fan of them. Crazy flag eh? eh? That was a good idea to have the kids write their names...i've seen people do that before, more personal. Plus when the kids are 16 you can embaress them in front of their friends! doughboy
Don't have any currently, but I am scheduled to go in next Thursday to start the portrait of my dog, maybe finish in one shot. He's going on the back of my right calf. And the other two currently planned/drawn up are a Celtic cross with roses climbing up it, and a shamrock with my mothers madien name under it on my right upper arm. I will be fifth generation with the shamrock/maiden name tattoo.
Pezzy
I'm a huge Snoopy fan, so I have his buddy Woodstock on my right ankle. One day Snoopy will join him. The fishies on my back are for my star sign, Pisces. I had the fish done the first time, and a couple years later added the stars. I'm still not happy with it, I want to see someone who is good with shading, and try to blend it all somehow. Tye, I thought of getting a 'Made in Canada' tatt too... one day there will be something to that nature, again, I have to find / create the perfect image. My wife, Mary, came up with that one...surprised me...she really wants that one...just cant decide on the right wording/latout. I thought it would be funny if it looked like a clothing label "MADE IN/FABRIQUE AU CANADA" "NEW MATERIAL ONLY" "100% CANADIAN MADE" The leaf would be red and not blue. On the woodstock/snoopy...he should be bouncing off snoopy's doghouse...and i love the back piece...i know what you mean about shading tho...thats the most CRITICAL part and to make it blend/fade together is the key. Check these two out...one is fake but its cool...the other we found when researching flowers and stuff for Mary's...My fav Tat ive ever seen on her back there!!!!!!!! And im not a fan of butterflies tats. Tye Edited November 15, 2010 by Hawzzy

GrimGreg
Here are mine: "Link" was my first, I wanted a scorpion being Scorpio, but didn't want realistic or tribal, had this chain link design on a T-shirt. Again, I wanted a tricycle, but wanted something different, found this on a flash. Right calf. Wanted a flaming 8 ball, again wanted to be different, so I did it in negative to match the tricycle. Left calf. The "devil" was one everyone in my band decided to get, and we all got it slightly different, it was based on this: The bat was because I got the nickname "Batman" at work, so I fount a celtic charm of a bat and had the tattooist draw it up. This was before shading, need to get one with the shading, as it is a lot more detailed. But that is "King Cleo", I got it to match one my wife got on her shoulder as a coverup. Hawzzy
I figure I'd join in on the action. Here's one I got when I was living in Maui, on my back. Was that done with a "gun" or traditional style????? Polynesians have a long history of traditional tattoing with a VERY sharp boar bone i think!
