beastpath
Ok, have finally got my engine. How silicone hungry are these things?? Does it take just a dab or a lot to seal up any gaskets? Or none at all? Will post pics etc when i get done.
Kittamaru
for some reason, I have memory of someone saying not to use silicone on the gaskets... use a rubber based sealant. I can't figure out why I remember that... can someone more knowledgable give a better answer?

beastpath
x2. RTV for the win. Is RTV just a brand of silicone? If so, is there a specific type that you use, or is it just general auto or something?

5523Pathfinder
The orange silicone you get at the dealer has worked great for just about every resealing job Ive ever done. The price is spendy though.

MY1PATH
just go to a parts store and pick up some "sensor safe" RTV silicone with a temp rating of about 300 (higer for head gaskets and headers) any brand should do and that will fill all your needs. 87pathy
IN just about any engine re-build, you shouldn't need any RTV.. except in some special places.

GrimGreg
I'll use a thin layer on regular gaskets to hold them in place during assembly.
